Unhappy over the way things have been developing lately, Brendan furiously grabs Ste's face and says that he can't be with both him and Rae.

Darren Day has revealed that he enjoyed filming the darker scenes which feature in Hollyoaks' forthcoming late-night special.

The actor's sinister character Danny Houston takes centre stage in next week's one-off episode 'King of Hearts', which sees him make life hell for his ex-girlfriend Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper) and her new lover Rhys Ashworth (Andy Moss).

After discovering that the pair have scammed him in a game of poker, Danny gives them a deadline to pay the money back and more, leaving them facing a dangerous race against time.

However, in a shocking twist, Danny also vows to wipe the debt clean if he can sleep with Jacqui, who dumped him for Rhys earlier this year.

Discussing the storyline, Day told Bang Showbiz: "It's completely about revenge. The last thing Danny said to Jacqui was, 'I'm going to make you pay for this in a way you wouldn't believe'.

"He sees this as the perfect opportunity to carry out his revenge. He's threatening, he's a bully, it's dark - it was very fun to play out."

'King of Hearts' airs on Wednesday, December 15 at 10pm on Channel 4.
