No snow at all in the west midlands but it is very cold. My housemate said he walked into the bathroom this morning and slipped on ice! We don't have central heating so the bathroom gets very cold. The cold is judged in degrees of condensation from normal breathing.

Snow started up here around half 7 last night. Only a few centimeters but enough to delay buses. More forecast for tomorrow. :(

Abigail
28-11-2010, 02:02
We had a few cm of snow fall last night. I got up to go to the loo at 8am this morning and my house mate asked me if we were in Narnia. I was like WTF

It's about -6 here, there's ice on the inside of the bathroom window, which is double glazed!

Tori

I can't believe that for once it's colder in the UK than in Germany. Distinct win in getting away from the cold weather I sense!

StarsOfCCTV

I am going to have to email the estate agents the house is just too cold and we're wasting a whole load of money with the heating because the radiators don't work properly and the utility lets all the cold in.. Grr.

I think its about -3 here. I don't know, I've hibernated in my room all weekend and done work. :p Its been cloudy all weekend and looking like its going to snow but I don't think it will, sadly!

Siobhan

really surprising here but we have had 2 days of snow and more on the way... I love the snowy landscape but worried they will cancel school tomorrow for the kids....

Snowing up here too. Not too bad though its fn freezing. Curtains pulled doors locked and heating turned up another notch.

I think UWE turned down the heating deliberately to prevent us from falling asleep at 9am lectures.

Yes and you dont have to pay for the oil.

it is one of the reasons I go into the office in Winter when kids are at school saves my bills.... I am at home today and kids are bored..

Well I'm fooking snowed in 14 inches of the stuff fell over the weekend every school in Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife and the colleges all closed today and tomorrow. There has been no buses since Sunday afternoon because they can't get up the hill where I live. Had to walk a mile and a half to the shops then back again. Been a good neighbour and checked on my elderly neighbours and did their shopping for them. Then spent the afternoon trying to clear the path not that it mattered because I soon as I got up the stairs a fresh load fell. Rumour has it on the news that a new delivery of salt from Peru arrived on a ship to Edinburgh's Leith dock area. I don't know if the Council are going to make a statue of Alex Salmond out of it because they're no griitting the flaming roads with it. Seriously you'd think I lived in deap dark fecking Siberia and not 5 miles from the centre of the capital of Scotland.

I hate to mention this...but we've had hardly any snow round here (Clacton). I can't believe it when I see what the rest of the country is going through. There was no snow on the ground this morning, the car windscreens were all clear. Oh well, guess I'll stay here then.

Perdita
01-12-2010, 12:55
Same where I live but it is bitterly cold today, -7 but a nasty freezing cold wind chill bringing temperatures down to -15/-16 according to news  :(

Abigail

Well it snowed overnight in London.. not much but enough to cause a few problems, I should think. The side roads will be ice rinks tomorrow they are only gritting major routes. I'm back in Bristol now though, the M4 was fine - I think its about the only motorway that is! There is no snow in Bristol at the moment.

Tori
03-12-2010, 09:04
Well I'm hoping the UK airports are less affected by snow today! My mate was meant to be flying out of Heathrow yesterday, but had his flight cancelled 3 times! So today we're all desperately hoping that he'll get there and my friend coming from Geneva will also!

It's cold here, (about -10) but it doesn't feel too bad, thankfully! (Although I may change my mind after I've been into town and done shopping and waited in the airport for another gazillion hours!)

Chloe O'brien
03-12-2010, 18:18
Got down to -15 in Edinburgh lastr night. School still closed will have to wait until Sunday to see if they will open on Monday. Still no buses coming up my way it's a nightmare.

Chloe O'brien
05-12-2010, 03:19

Chloe O'brien
05-12-2010, 03:21
Well it aint up our way only turning to ice. And there's nore snow forecasts for next weekend. At this rate it will be 2011 before Scotland can see any green grass.

NOOOOO!! I love snow if I can enjoy it but enough already... Was chatting with my nephew in Norway and asked him if he was blowing the snow to Ireland and he said that the norwegians have a facebook campaign Blow the snow to Ireland, which is very popular  he was down to -35 degrees over the weekend and they have a 3 day storm coming there (said it must be bad cause it made the news)

Abigail

It started to rain a few days ago, which washed away some snow. Unfortunately it was freezing during the night and now it's turned to compacted ice. I slipped on my way into uni this morning, thankfully nobody was around and I haven't done any serious damage apart from a muscle strain.

Siobhan
07-12-2010, 08:41
This is probably the first time I have been excited about rain in Ireland!!! snow is slowly melting but I know it will freeze tonight and it will be like an ice rink in the morning

alan45
07-12-2010, 10:37
Dont get too excited yet Shiv. Even though the sun is shining up here its still minus 4. They are expecting more snow in Donegal and L'Derry spreading south later but hopefully it will turn to rain.

Good luck with the budget. Juts in time for your very own scrooge Brian Lenihan to ruin Christmas. No doubt the drink will get a rattle.

Siobhan
07-12-2010, 10:42
I am not even thinking about the budget.. I just know they will just add another increase to our levy, income tax and anything that affects people who work hard for a living while the rich remain so

Chloe O'brien
07-12-2010, 12:47
I'm back at work today had to work again, buses still a nightmare it will take weeks to melt. Maybe gone by July. -10 tonight.

The Army has been drafted into help clear the streets of Edinburgh. It was on the news last night that Edinburgh has seen it's worst weather since 1963. I'm so angry that the Army has to be drafted into clear the snow, why can't they get all the lazy layabouts on beneifits of the butts to help clear it.

Because somebody surely would complain that his/her human rights have been violated

Abigail
09-12-2010, 23:22
We had another thin sprinkling on snow overnight but it melted along with some of the compacted snow and ice today. It's becoming very dangerous and slippery around here.

Its forecast to snow in Bristol Sat/Sun and in London Fri/Sat. Sleet in both the days before snow is forecast. Back in London Friday evening. Not getting my hopes up though - didn't snow when they forecast it last time!

But I really want it to snow.. I want to take pretty pictures with my camera!!

Eta: Though I won't be too happy if it decides to snow while I'm on the M4.. heavy rain is bad enough! :p

~I'm so glad to said that. When i'm clearing the path tomorrow. i'll stick it in a bag and post it down to you as we still have clumps of ice on the pavements from the snowfall at the begining of December.

We had tonnes of snow the week before Christmas but thankfully it melted on the 27th as I flew out to Germany on the 28th to guess what!! More snow.. was shocked when I came back to Green grass!!!

Chloe O'brien

I was at the shops yesterday and the snow we had on Friday was starting to melt. I passed this guy and he said he'd forgotten what tarmac looked liked. We're due to get some rain this week so hopefully that will get rid of it.

seemingly you got the brunt of it, because when I came back after xmas it was melting, then it warmed up and we're now snow free (for the moment!)
