View Full Version : Neighbours Kate set for new romance
Neighbours' Kate Ramsay is set for a new romance, her alter ego has revealed.
After the demise of her rocky relationship with Declan Napier, the Ramsay Street teenager will get involved with another character already known to viewers.
Actress Ashleigh Brewer, who plays Kate, said: "Declan and Kate are pretty much dead and gone. There's a new relationship in the works that you're about to see, which is really fun and exciting. It's a character that's been around already so it's someone the audience already knows."
Kate has been in a long-term relationship with dad-of-one Declan, played by James Sorensen and later by Erin Mullally, but things have recently cooled between the pair.
And the actress reckons her plucky character, who has taken care of her siblings since their mother's death, is in need of someone who can take care of her for a change.
"She's the person who does all the looking after. She looks after her little sister and now she needs someone who can step in a look after her a bit."

I bet it is Lucas or Kyle
Lucas would be a little old for her, Kyle would be better suited, imo, if it is him

Ohh I know the one I think.. the one that used to be really horrible lol? I didn't even notice he was still in it :rotfl:.
Well there can't be many options.. because Zeke is leaving soon isn't he? So can't be him..
And the rest are definately too old for her?

Yes Zeke is leaving
I taught it might be Lucas also as he is living with them now maybe she gets a crush on him but Kyle seems the logical choice

Yeah that why I thought Lucas. But yeah agreed. Kyle does seem more logical.

i quite like her with Lucas, they seem to get on very well. yeah he's kind of old for her but she's very mature and has had to take on a lot for someone her age.
Neighbours star Ashleigh Brewer has called for soap bosses to bring her character's dad into the show.
Ashleigh plays resilient teenager Kate Ramsay, who looked after her younger siblings Sophie and Harry after the death of her mum.
But the actress reckons it's time for their father, who is supposedly dead, to come back into their lives.
She said: "There's a big mystery because the only person who told us he was dead was Paul Robinson. Paul went to Sydney, found someone who knew him and found out he was dead. But you can never trust anything Paul Robinson says. So that's kind of up in the air. I've said all along it would be great if they brought him in."
Kate has been in a long-term relationship with Declan Napier (Erin Mullally), but she is set to fall for someone new.
Scott McGregor has revealed that he is pleased to have Ashleigh Brewer as his new screen love interest in Neighbours.
In scenes soon to air in Australia, the pair's alter egos Detective Mark Brennan and Kate Ramsay will embark on a relationship to the surprise of some Ramsay Street residents.
Speaking to TV Week about working closely with Brewer, McGregor commented: "We've become good mates. I get along with the other girls on the show as well, but if I had to pick anyone to have an on-screen romance with, it'd be Ash. She's fantastic."
Discussing how Mark and Kate's attraction has developed, the actor explained: "Mark first met Kate during the 'Who Pushed P.R?' investigation. He thought she was pretty cute from the moment she walked in to make a statement, but he obviously kept his mind on the job.
"Mark's a cop and Kate hasn't known much about him. He's also a fair bit older than her and is very focused on his work. He wanted something to happen, but at the same time, he's been a bit wary starting up with Kate because of her ties to Paul and Declan."
McGregor was originally recruited as a guest cast member before producers decided to keep him in Ramsay Street for a longer stint.

Neighbours star Ashleigh Brewer has revealed that she is currently exploring another side to Kate Ramsay's personality thanks to the character's new romance.
Kate's latest love interest is Detective Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor), who was introduced as part of the soap's 'Who Pushed P.R?' storyline before producers decided to keep the character in Erinsborough for a longer stint.
Fans in the UK have yet to see the pair get together, but their relationship is about to blossom in episodes soon to air in Australia.
In an interview with Holy Soap, Brewer said of Kate: "I'm really happy with the path she's gone down. She's really happy in this new relationship.
"And the audience is going to see a new side to Kate. She lets go a bit and starts acting a bit younger, which I was really hoping for!"
Since joining the show last year, Brewer's main screen love interest has been Declan Napier, originally played by James Sorensen and now portrayed by Erin Mullally.
A new romance is set to flourish on Ramsay Street, and it's going to be interesting.
With her relationship with Declan on the skids, Kate Ramsay is due to strike up a relationship with hot cop Mark Brennan.
But as Kate is just a teenager, and Mark is committed to his work, it may not be the easiest of rides.
Actor Scott McGregor told us: "Brennan tends to put work first and relationships suffer, so it will be interesting to see what happens with Kate Ramsay."
He went on: "He meets her interviewing everyone about Paul Robinson. He thinks she pretty cute but not a lot comes of it until later on.
"It's early days. Anything can happen, but there's definitely a spark, they enjoy each other's company and there's something definitely there."
However, the notable age difference between the pair hasn't gone unnoticed among Scott's friends.
"Kate's 19 and my character is about 25. It's funny because a few friends of mine have mentioned it, but I think it's because of what they do and where they are in life.
"At one point Kate's having driving lessons and I'm working as a detective who's moved up through the ranks quickly, so we do seem quite different in age, but it's better left unsaid I think!"

Ashleigh Brewer has revealed that she would like her Neighbours character Kate Ramsay to get a new boyfriend in the coming months.
Kate will be left without a love interest in Erinsborough later this year as Scott McGregor, who plays her on-off partner Mark Brennan, has decided to leave the show and recently filmed his final scenes.
In an interview with Holy Soap, Brewer confirmed that she is now looking forward to seeing who Kate could fall for next.
She explained: "I love working with someone really closely - relationship storylines are great to play when the mix is right."
Asked who she would like to see as Kate's next boyfriend, Brewer replied: "Ooh, that's an interesting question. There has been speculation about Kate and Kyle getting together. I think they could work, but Kyle would really want to look after Kate and she isn't willing to accept that she needs looking after.
"She is very independent and that could almost be the end of them before they start, she needs someone more parallel with her - but the writers may have other ideas."
Chris Milligan, who portrays the role of Kyle, was recently promoted to a full-time cast member on Neighbours.
Neighbours actress Ashleigh Brewer has revealed that she is often teased by her co-stars for an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction on set.
Brewer, who plays Kate Ramsay on the Australian show, told Inside Soap that she once accidentally flashed her knickers during a catwalk scene backstage.
"I'd only been on the show for a couple of months, and I was wearing a really short skirt as my costume," she explained.
"It was the storyline where Donna Brown put on a runway show. I was told to put my hand up when I stepped off the catwalk, and as I put it up, my skirt went up to my belly button!
She added that her co-stars haven't forgotten the incident, saying: "They replayed it at the Christmas party that year - so I couldn't live it down."
Brewer recently said that she would like a new romance plot for her character Kate in the near future.
