EastEnders star Himesh Patel has revealed that his character Tamwar Masood will face "a very big obstacle" in a new romance storyline.

In the coming weeks, Tamwar will be left feeling lonely on the Square as his friend Darren Miller starts spending more time with girlfriend Jodie Gold - but he is expected to soon find a possible new love interest of his own.

Speaking to Walford Web about what kind of woman Tamwar is looking for, Patel explained: "I'm not sure he knows, due to lack of experience in that part of life.

"It's got to the stage where he just wants someone, whether that someone is perfect or not. He won't ask many questions and that is what's going to cause problems."

Meanwhile, asked whether the identity of Tamwar's potential girlfriend will surprise fans, the actor replied: "It depends how long you've been watching the show."

He added: "There's one very, very big obstacle to overcome. It's something that Tamwar couldn't possibly prepare himself for."

Earlier this year, Patel spoke of how he was pleased to be sharing more scenes with his screen brother Marc Elliott (Syed).

Phil's behaviour arouses suspicion
Airs on Monday, November 22 2010 20:00 GMT on BBC One

At Carol and Glenda's, Connor receives a text from Phil about a 'job'. Carol is worried about what a job with Phil means, but is happy to see him taking the initiative to find work. Glenda makes it clear to Carol that she knows what is going on between the two of them and it has inspired her to go on a manhunt. As Connor goes to leave, Glenda comes out dressed sexily. At first, Connor playfully flirts with her, but then he comments on her being lonely, which hits her hard. Later, Glenda is on the lookout for men but she cannot find much talent. She goes to the pub where she sees Phil behaving oddly with Ryan and her suspicions grow.

Outside number 27, an estate agent is erecting a 'for sale' sign and inside, Shirley has noticed £5,000 missing from the stolen money. She confronts Phil, but he avoids her and takes a call from Connor, agreeing to meet outside The Vic at 12pm. While Phil is on the phone, Billy walks in and tries to make Shirley feel bad about stealing the money from Roxy then allowing the blame to fall on Julie. Phil finds Ryan in the pub to tell him to hurry up finding the motor he wanted, then goes to meet Connor. Outside the café, Bianca and Shirley see Phil and Connor talking. Later, Shirley finds Phil at The Arches and demands to know what is going on. He takes her to number 55 and says he is completing a few deals to secure the house for them. At first, Shirley is concerned by the nature of these 'deals' but then she gets excited and they go to The Vic to celebrate.

Meanwhile, Kat and Alfie playfully argue about the cost of prams and Alfie is inspired to do something charitable so he puts up a poster for a 'Butlers and Maids Charity Auction'. Ryan arrives wanting Kat to try to reach Stacey, but when Alfie tries to contact her, he's unsuccessful. Kat is sure Stacey is fine, but she is worried that they are one barmaid down. When Janine heads to The Vic, she spots a sign saying 'staff wanted'. She tells Ryan it will be great to work together but Kat makes it clear she would not be happy with that. Kat is distracted by a phone call and Alfie tells Janine she can start on a trial basis. Kat approaches Alfie who thinks she is annoyed with him for hiring Janine, however she tells him that Stacey has just called and she sounded terrible.

Elsewhere, Lauren's behaviour causes more tension at Max's house; Billy accidentally lets Roxy know that Phil stole her money; Zainab goes to meet with the estate agent about her bid for the Argee Bhajee but Ian shows up too; Bianca tries to warn Carol about Connor but she is not interested; Vanessa tells Lauren about her chat with Stacey in a bid to win her over; Phil informs Roxy that he wouldn't steal from her as they're both Mitchells; and Afia makes an excellent impression when she has her first proper meeting with Zainab and Masood.

Ian discovers Jane's intentions
Airs on Tuesday, November 23 2010 19:30 GMT on BBC One

Ian is struggling to keep his interest in purchasing the Argee Bhajee a secret from Jane. While discussing his interest with Peter, Jane overhears and her suspicion grows. Later, Ian meets the estate agent and tries to bribe him to find out who the other bidders are. Although the estate agent takes the bribe, he only discloses that the other bidder is Zainab. The price of the bid remains unknown. As the day continues, Ian unsuccessfully tries to spy on Zainab while she writes her bid. Undeterred, Ian breaks into the Masoods' in an attempt to see what Zainab's bid is. Before Ian has time to escape, Zainab and Tamwar return from the shops and Ian has to hide behind the open door.

Ian creeps to the front door but the doorbell rings. Standing at the door are Bianca, Glenda, Whitney, Denise, Jane and Zainab, who have all agreed to get ready together in preparation for the charity auction being held by Alfie that evening. Ian darts to the cupboard under the stairs to hide. Although Zainab has banned alcohol, the girls sneak some in and Jane finishes numerous drinks. They begin to discuss Jane's relationship with Ian and Jane bursts into tears, leaving the other women lost. An emotional Jane explains the state of their relationship and says that she no longer loves Ian so she is leaving him. Under the stairs, Ian is distressed having witnessing the entire conversation.

Meanwhile, at Carol and Glenda's, Carol notices a bag of weed and, assuming it belongs to Connor, insists that he leaves. Despite a look of disappointment, Carol stands firms and kicks him out. Later, when Glenda returns and looks in her handbag, she comments that her stash is missing. Carol realises what has happened and tries to reach Connor to apologise but can only get through to his voicemail. Bianca later arrives at Carol's and meets a wall of smoke. After barging her way in, it materialises Carol has been smoking herself.

Elsewhere, Phil, Shirley, Jay and Billy have moved into 55 Victoria Road together; the women of the Square prepare to auction themselves and their cleaning services at Alfie's charity event; Masood coaches Tamwar on how to act ahead of his first meeting with Afia's father; Phil accuses Billy of telling Glenda where Roxy's money went after Glenda's prying becomes a problem; Alfie tells Ryan that Kat knows where Stacey and Lily are; Tamwar's meeting with Afia's dad goes well; and Glenda accidentally finds Ian hiding in the cupboard.

Janine commits another vengeful act
Airs on Thursday, November 25 2010 19:30 GMT on BBC One

Hour-long episode

Ryan notices Kat leaving The Vic with a weekend bag and follows her. They argue about why Ryan needs to know where Lily and Stacey are. However, Kat eventually sympathises with Ryan and agrees to meet him after the auction to go and see Stacey. As the evening continues, Kat causes a stir by dragging Ryan on to the stage and calling for bids. Meanwhile, Janine takes a sneaky look in Kat's bag to see baby clothes. She assumes they belong to Stacey and she immediately becomes suspicious of what Kat and Ryan are up to.

Later during Ryan's shift, he goes to the kitchen. Whilst picking up lemons from the cold store room, Janine shuts the door on him and hurries away leaving Ryan locked in. Soon afterwards, Janine tells Kat that she is leaving because her and Ryan have argued and leaves the pub. Ryan remains in the cold store room. Pat pays a visit to Janine and finds out where Ryan is. She orders her to go and let him out, but Janine refuses, stating that Ryan does not care enough about her and cares more about Stacey.

Meanwhile, Ian comes out from under the stairs and checks the envelope. He then goes home upset but this quickly turns into anger and he decides to go to The Vic to confront Jane. On his way, he bumps into Glenda and he asks why she did not speak up when she discovered him under the stairs. Glenda doesn't think Jane appreciates Ian and they agree to go to Glenda's to talk. They kiss and Glenda darts out to get some wine before they move into the bedroom. As Ian waits for Glenda naked, Bianca accidentally walks in on him. They share an awkward exchange in which Ian asks Bianca to keep this a secret and offers a pay rise.

Elsewhere, Carl tells Connor that she knows the weed was Glenda's and not his; Tamwar tells Zainab and Masood that he is bringing Afia and her father around to meet them that evening; Bianca confronts Connor over his suspicious behaviour; and when Tamwar's parents meet their guests, they recognise Afia's father as a face from the past and Masood throws both of them out of the house.

Ian tries to win back Jane's trust
Airs on Friday, November 26 2010 20:00 GMT on BBC One

Glenda attempts to apologise to Ian for leaving him dangling last night and Ian responds awkwardly, insisting that it doesn't matter while trying to ensure that Bianca does not overhear. Ian then informs Bianca that he is actually happy she found him because he now knows he really loves Jane. Later, Ian submits his bid for the Argee Bhajee and asks the estate agent for a favour. He goes on to inform Jane that he needs to see her at the restaurant. She arrives to one table in the middle of the restaurant laid romantically for two. Ian has named the restaurant after her, however Jane is suspicious and asks Ian what he has done wrong to cause such guilty actions. Jane approaches the topic of Lucy's miscarriage but Ian argues that it was all Lucy's idea. Jane is still largely unconvinced.

Meanwhile, Afia visits Tamwar at the stall to try to clear things up, saying that she honestly did not know there was past history between their families. Unfortunately, Tamwar's parents have banned him from seeing her and therefore nothing can happen between them. Upset, Afia leaves. Masood and Zainab discuss how to handle the situation appropriately. Masood insists nothing should happen. Afia's father pays a visit to Zainab to try to convince her to allow Afia and Tamwar to see each other. Masood arrives home and, infuriated to see him there, asks their visitor to leave.

Masood then receives a call from the bank saying that their application has been successful. Angry, he confronts Zainab. They argue with Masood venting his frustration and walking out, leaving Zainab reeling. When Masood meets Jane at the café, she talks about her troubled relationship with Ian and Masood reaches to hold her hand.

Elsewhere, Ryan decides to focus on Janine rather than Stacey and Lily as she rescued him the previous evening; Phil presents Shirley with a deep fat fryer as a gift; Alfie and Kat's auction has raised £350; and a conversation with Kat leaves Ryan suspicious about his 'accident' in the cold store room.
