Zac Drayson teases 'Home and Away' return

Home and Away star Zac Drayson has revealed what fans can expect from his character Will Smith's forthcoming return to Summer Bay.

Last month, it was confirmed that Will is to pay a visit to the town after a five-year absence, to the delight of his former foster mother Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger).

In scenes which air in Australia next week, Will turns up in the Bay alongside his young daughter Lily - and soon admits that all is not well with his marriage to Gypsy.

Speaking to TV Week, Drayson explained: "He and Gypsy are going through a rough patch, so he comes home to clear his head. They're not divorced - they're just having a break."

Asked how long Will stays in Summer Bay for, the actor replied: "I can't tell you that, but I'm going to be around for a while!"

Drayson also claimed that Gypsy's portrayer Kimberley Cooper would be interested in making a comeback of her own in the future.

He said: "I've spoken to Kimberley and she's really keen to return, but she couldn't fit it around her wedding plans."

Lily - now 11 years of age - is being played by actress Charlie Rose Maclennan, who previously portrayed Zoe O'Donnell on the BBC's Sydney-based soap Out of the Blue.

Zac Drayson has said that it feels "great" being back on the set of Home and Away.

The Australian actor, who quit his role as Will Smith in 2002, said that he decided to return to the show after travelling around the country with friends for the past three years.

Drayson told The Daily Telegraph: "A mate of mine was working as a producer and just said, 'What do you think about coming back?' [It] just felt right.

"Being back is great; it really did feel like coming home. But I'm not signed for three, four years this time around, so I'll be here for a while and then see where I end up. It's a good time to be an Aussie actor, I reckon."

Home and Away returnee Zac Drayson has teased that there will be a surprise in store for fans when the reasons for his character Will Smith's current personal problems are revealed on screen.

In scenes which aired in Australia last week, Will returned to Summer Bay for the first time in five years following a rough patch in his marriage to Gypsy.

Meanwhile, forthcoming episodes of the soap will see Will finally open up to his former foster mother Irene Roberts (Lynne McGranger) - explaining the real reasons why his relationship is in tatters.

Speaking to TV Week, Drayson commented: "He finally reveals what happened and the secret shocks Irene. When Will came back to Summer Bay, Irene knew something was amiss. She was sad to find out his marriage to Gypsy was on the rocks, but didn't know any details of how and why."

Although Will's secret is currently being kept under wraps, Drayson hinted at how Irene reacts to his bombshell.

He said: "She's shocked and perhaps a bit disappointed in Will. She loves him as a foster child, but also wants the best for his daughter Lily. Will needs a reminder of what's important in his life, and that is Lily. Irene's advice certainly gives Will something to think about, and yes, perhaps it's time to make some changes in his life."
