2896: Steph reveals some tragic news

Steph and Gilly happily reflect on the success of the charity pants walk as they head to the hospital. Steph goes in for her appointment and afterwards proudly presents the cheque to the hospital.
But back at home, Steph sits Gilly down to talk and drops the bombshell that there's nothing the doctors can do for her anymore - her cancer's terminal.
Meanwhile, as India blithely questions Cindy about her mystery man, Cindy worries about his identity being revealed. Alistair turns up wanting an answer to his big question, and tries to convince her to accept. Cindy agrees to marry Alistair, overjoyed at the sight of the ring on her finger.
Elsewhere, Malachy and Lynsey enjoy flirting with each other but are interrupted by Brendan; Louis receives some good news; Darren announces that he's been accepted on to an accountancy course; and Malachy is frustrated at work when Mercedes turns up dressed to kill for a meeting with a mystery guy.
2897: Steph's prognosis shocks her family

As they all try to take in the heartbreaking revelation, Tom angrily flees the house, accusing Steph of breaking her promise that she's not going to die on him.
Meanwhile, Lynsey tries her best to act casual when Cheryl reports that Malachy might have a mystery girl on the go and later broaches the subject with him. They acknowledge that they need to keep things secret but with that, fall into a passionate embrace.
Elsewhere, Alistair tries to charm an awkward Cindy with romantic gestures; Eva attempts to spice up Anita's life by setting Duncan up on a date with her; India and Tex angrily accuse Cindy of being nothing more than a gold-digger; and Eva locks lips with Duncan when he shamefully admits that he can't kiss - as a horrified Anita watches on.
2898: Sinead vows to make an impact

SoapsHollyoaksAs they prepare to start their first day at Hollyoaks High, newcomer Sinead shows her brother Finn exactly how she's going to make waves.
The mischievous teen sets up a practical joke for the Deputy Head, but unable to stand by and watch him walk into the trap, Finn leaps into Rob's path and instead it's the Head who ends up on the floor covered in water.
While Sinead reprimands Finn, they are both disgusted to hear that Amber has a crush on Rob and Finn makes a startling revelation - Rob's their dad!
Meanwhile, Alistair hurries a reluctant Cindy to sign on the dotted line of their prenuptial agreement - he's keen to make a start with the wedding arrangements. But while Cindy philosophises about the brevity of life, Alistair collapses to the floor with an apparent heart attack.
Elsewhere, Rob is promoted to Acting Head and offers Eva a job of design assistant at the school; Steph is shocked by Gilly's denial of the facts and tells him firmly that he has to accept the reality of her illness or else she can't marry him; and Anita is incensed by Eva's stunt and says that she never wants to see her again.
2899: Cindy starts to have second thoughts

SoapsHollyoaksIndia frets over Alistair in his hospital bed. She is displeased to see Cindy doing the same, but Cindy assures India that she is genuinely worried about Alistair and hands back the engagement ring.
After asking to see the pre-nuptial agreement, Darren reveals that Cindy would get all of Alistair's cash if he died, but will get nothing if she marries and divorces him. As a result, Cindy starts to think twice about the proposal.
Meanwhile, Sinead and Finn have a heart-sinking moment when they see Rob trying to join in a kick-about at lunchtime - it looks like he'll be Acting Head at the school for a while. Later, their mum Diane panics when Rob's not home and she sees the time - she needs to have her IVF shot. She then makes Sinead administer the injection, sparking a family row.
Elsewhere, Gilly's heartbroken at having been rejected by Steph; Ravi gives in when Eva makes another pass at him; Rhys learns that Steph's cancer is terminal and tries to get Gilly to open up; and Eva asks Ravi to let her stay in the flat for a little while longer.
2900: Cindy and Alistair get back on track

SoapsHollyoaksEva sees Alistair drowning his sorrows and wastes no time introducing herself. When Cindy calls looking to meet up, Alistair tells her where to find him, before ordering a round of champagne for Eva.
Later, when Alistair pays a visit to India and Tex and appears full of life, it seems his recent medical scare might have been for show. Tex is glad Cindy's seemingly backed off from seeing him. However, when Tex and India next see Cindy, she's got the ring on her finger and the wedding is back on.
Just as things get back on track for the couple, Cindy discovers that the McQueens have got hold of CCTV footage showing what really happened on the day that Alistair's life was saved at Il Gnosh. Realising they have her over a barrel, what will Cindy do?
Meanwhile, Sinead still feels put out that her dad is Acting Head of her school. Diane tries to assure her that it's not such a big deal, but things are still strained between mother and daughter after yesterday's incident.
Elsewhere, Ste catches Brendan with a mysterious package. He pretends not to have noticed as Brendan hastily stuffs it out of sight, but it's obvious his curiosity is piqued. When Brendan's back is turned, Ste examines the parcel. It looks dodgy and Ste decides to hide it somewhere safer…
