Former Hollyoaks and The Bill star Stefan Booth has landed a part in EastEnders, taking on the role of Tanya Branning's new fiancé Greg.

The 30-year-old actor will make his first appearance in Albert Square next month when builder Greg turns up to work on the reconstruction of the Queen Vic following a dramatic blaze at the pub.

According to reports today, while the role of Greg is currently a guest part, Booth is keen to stick with the soap on a longer-term basis.

Speaking of his casting, Booth commented: "I'm absolutely delighted to be coming into Albert Square. Even as a kid, whenever I wasn't running around making mischief, we'd all sit in front of the telly watching EastEnders.

"Jo Joyner is a splendid actress to work with and I can't wait to get my teeth into the exciting storylines ahead."

Following his arrival on Albert Square, viewers are likely to see the newcomer clashing with Tanya's ex-husband Max (Jake Wood), who first heard about Greg's involvement in her life earlier this year.

A Walford source told The Mirror: "Max has his fair share of women but he still has a soft spot for Tanya despite all they have been through. Don't be too surprised if he makes mincemeat out of Greg."

Meanwhile, Jo Joyner is making a full-time comeback as Tanya following a period of maternity leave and a stint on three-part BBC series Candy Cabs.

According to Wiki, he is 30, Jo Joyner is in her early thirties, so not a great difference there, not sure how old Tanya is meant to be to have a 16 year old daughter

Here's the man who has given Tanya Branning a new lease of life following her split from love rat Max.

Viewers will get to see hunky Greg - played by ex-Hollyoaks star Stefan Booth - when he appears in Albert Square next month to work on reconstructing the Queen Vic.

And while Tanya (Jo Joyner) is smitten with her new fiance, he won't be receiving a warm welcome from her womanising ex (Jake Wood).

An EastEnders source told the Mirror: "Max has his fair share of women but he still has a soft spot for Tanya despite all they have been through. Don't be too surprised if he makes mincemeat out of Greg."

Stefan has joined the show on a short-term contract but is said to be hoping for a longer run.

He said: "Even as a kid, when I wasn't running around making mischief, we'd sit in front of the TV watching EastEnders."

Stefan Booth has revealed that he is so "excited" to have joined the cast of EastEnders.

The former Hollyoaks and The Bill actor made his on-screen debut as Tanya Branning's fiancé Greg last week.

Speaking to Soaplife about Greg's relationship with Tanya (Jo Joyner), Booth said that it is "very physical".

"She's fun, she's girly and he wants to look after her," he continued. "He wants to be part of her and her family's life. He likes that she's a mum and he certainly has a soft spot for Oscar. He likes this idea of being a surrogate father."

He added that Greg is a "bloke's bloke" who wants to "take it all the way" and marry Tanya.

"She's the girl for him," he said. "She completes him."

Speaking about joining the BBC soap's cast, Booth praised the "really cool" Jessie Wallace and "brilliant" Nina Wadia.

"Everyone's been lovely so far," he said.

ROMANCE has truly blossomed for Tanya Branning as she marries hunky Greg Jessop.
The beauty salon owner clutches a bouquet of pink roses in wedding scenes to be shown on EastEnders in April.

Jo Joyner, 33, who plays the mum of three, recently returned to the soap from maternity leave.

Her reappearance saw her character hook up with handyman Greg, played by Stefan Booth, 31.

But not everyone shares the couple's joy. Tanya's ex Max is not amused - so expect one or two thorny moments.

For most blushing brides, their wedding day is the happiest day of their lives - but this being EastEnders, nothing was ever going to be that simple for character Tanya Branning.
The divorced mother of three - played by Jo Joyner, 32 - is seen tying the knot with her toyboy handyman boyfriend Greg Jessop (played by Stefan Booth) in scenes due to be screened in April.

But in a shocking twist, she runs away shortly after saying her 'I dos' to be by ex-husband Max's side when she hears he's been seriously hurt in an accident.

The story unfolded yesterday as the cast of the much-loved BBC1 soap filmed outside on location in a London suburb.

Tanya is seen apparently being told about the drama by Max's brother Jack, and her face instantly falls.

Even though she split from the father of her three children last year (before Jo in real life left on maternity leave after giving birth to twins), Tanya has been showing signs of still having feelings for her ex.

It's not the only drama involving Max ahead either.

Whitney Dean, who is falling under Janine Butcher's evil spell and will soon end up as a prostitute, is set to make a pass at the used car lot owner.

Earlier in the wedding scenes, Tanya was seen beaming at her pink-themed wedding in her white dress and veil.
Most of the soap's cast were out in force - with a certain Ian Beale, Greg's best man - looking like he'd hit the wedding buffet already.

There have been rumours for a while that Tanya still held a candle for Max, so it could explain why her groom was looking gloomy earlier this week during the filming of the scenes.

Then again, poor Greg not only had to contend with Ian Beale as a best man, but pink highlighted morning suits that would put a Big Fat Gypsy Wedding to shame.
Kat Moon was resplendent in a typically understated garish red gown with a black and red hat with a veil, but the Queen Vic landlady didn't appear to have the heart to join in the celebrations.

Shot outside on location, the job at hand was clearly a chilly one however, which could explain the lack of delight displayed by the cast outside the church.

Both Laurie Brett, who plays Jane Beale, and Lindsey Coulson, who plays Carol Jackson, were seen in huge puffa coats both looking rather fed up and freezing.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Branning was seen pushing her pram bearing stolen baby Tommy - as parents Kat and Alfie remain unaware that their child is still alive, after bereft Ronnie snatched him to replace her child James, a victim of Sudden Infant Death syndrome.
It's thought that the baby snatch cot death plot will finally be resolved around Easter time.

Tanya and Greg's wedding meanwhile will be shown at the beginning of April - just a few weeks before Phil Mitchell and Shirley Carter walk down the aisle.

The hard-nut couple are thought to have their wedding screened on April 29 – the day Prince William weds Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey.

EastEnders actress Jo Joyner has backed Greg Jessop as the right man for her character Tanya Branning for the time being.

The pair, who have been an item for a year, will take centre stage on the BBC soap next month as their wedding day arrives, giving Tanya the chance for a fresh start following her split from previous husband Max.

Reports that Max and daughter Abi will have a car crash on Tanya's wedding day, prompting her to flee from the church after saying her vows, have recently led to speculation that a Max and Tanya reunion could be on the cards.

However, speaking to TV Times, Joyner explained: "Tanya will always love Max, but he has caused her so much heartache and pain. She'll be safe with Greg. He's the right man for Tanya at the moment.

"Women like Tanya can't help but love a wrong 'un though, so I do worry that Greg might turn out to be too nice. Poor Greg! But at the moment she's happy."

She continued: "I don't think she wants any more kids, though. Greg is great with the ones she has and they already feel like a family. I'm pleased for her and I'm so glad about the wedding as I have always wanted an EastEnders wedding.

"We've given it plenty of East End sparkle, too - there are some very bright pinks and a sparkly tiara."

EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood recently teased that there will be changes ahead for Max, Tanya, Greg and Vanessa in the coming weeks.

Jo Joyner has revealed that filming for her upcoming EastEnders wedding was not an enjoyable experience.

The actress, whose character Tanya Branning is preparing for her second marriage to boyfriend Greg Jessop, told the PA that filming in poor weather made managing her dress a difficult task.

Joyner explained: "It was absolutely freezing because it was only a few weeks ago. It was wet, windy and rainy but all these things are good because they kind of mark that possibly the wedding was doomed - you know what they say if it rains on your wedding day, let alone a car crash and everything else.

"It's very difficult for costume under those circumstances to try and keep a white dress white when you're stood on this horrifically muddy grass outside, filming for 12 hours with hot water bottles and dressing gowns, it's very unglamorous."

Joyner added that "things are going to get interesting and complicated" in the coming months for Tanya's relationship with children Abby and Lauren as a result of the upcoming storyline.

EastEnders star Jo Joyner has revealed that she doesn't want her character to have any more children.

The actress, who plays mum of three Tanya Branning in the BBC One soap, admitted that after being pregnant in the show and then in real life, she hopes there won't be any new arrivals for Tanya with new partner Greg Jessop (Stefan Booth).

According to PA, she said: "Four?! I don't know, I don't think I could face another year - I had a year of being pregnant on telly as Tanya, then in real life I was pregnant with twins, give me a break! I don't think I could wear a bump, real or not, for another couple of years, surely.

"No, I don't think... Oscar's only three and Abi and Lauren are entering into quite a difficult time, they're young women, so things are going to get interesting and complicated with the two of them, I'm sure. I think she's got enough to handle at the moment!"

Speaking of returning to work after having twins, named Freddie and Edie, she added: "It's made it a bit harder to juggle. Luckily my husband is incredibly hands-on so I got the chance to swap heads and find myself again.

"It's 15 months now and I feel like I'm only just coming out of some weird place that I'm in where you're remembering who you are and feeling ambitious again and thinking about what you want in life. Actually I feel even more driven than I did before, but there's two little reasons to carry on."

Joyner recently admitted that she feels maternal towards her on-screen children.

Jo Joyner has revealed that she is thrilled to have her EastEnders character's family arriving on screen in next week's wedding episodes.

As Tanya Branning prepares to marry fiancé Greg Jessop in the days ahead, she receives a surprise as her mother Cora Cross and sister Rainie turn up in Walford for the ceremony.

Award-winning actress Ann Mitchell has taken on the part of Cora, while Tanya Franks has reprised her role as troubled Rainie.

Speaking of the upcoming Cross family scenes, Joyner told Inside Soap: "It's a real treat to have some female solidarity around Tanya. It's great for me to work with some women, too - I always seem to be with men!

"Ann Mitchell, who plays Cora, is a fantastic addition to EastEnders and we're lucky to have her. I'm really looking forward to the various dynamics which will be in play."

Joyner added that Tanya will give Rainie another chance when she makes her reappearance, despite her turbulent history.

She said: "If there's one quality Tanya has, it's a massive capacity for forgiveness - just look at her and Max. She will always forgive Rainie, whatever she does.

"Tanya's actually quite annoyed to see her and Cora when they first arrive, but because there's so much going on with the preparations, she doesn't really have time to deal with them until after the wedding."

Tanya and Greg's dramatic wedding episodes air on April 14 and 15.

EastEnders star Jo Joyner has warned that her character Tanya Branning could break fiancé Greg Jessop's heart.

The pair's wedding day will arrive on screen in next week's episodes, but Tanya has been tipped to struggle with unresolved feelings for ex-husband Max (Jake Wood) in the run-up to the ceremony after he turns up at her house and declares that he should be the one standing next to her at the church.

Speculation about Max and Tanya was fuelled last month when EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood teased that Max's car crash on Tanya's big day could spark a new direction for the pair.

Speaking to Inside Soap about whether Tanya would ever reunite with Max, Joyner commented: "If Tanya did that, I'd despair of her - wouldn't you? But I do understand her. Some people are like faithful dogs, aren't they?

"And I love working with Jake Wood. Playing scenes with him is so easy because our characters have all this history together."

Joyner said that the lasting chemistry between Tanya and Max could mean that "a lot of people are going to get hurt", adding that her character is "ultimately a one-man woman, and if she can't have that man, she should be alone".

"Tanya shouldn't mess Greg about," she continued. "She needs to either live with Max, knowing she'll never be the only woman in his life, or stay on her own with her three kids.

"People stop me to ask if I think the marriage will be a disaster and I tell them, 'Greg sees her in her dress before the ceremony, she's late to the church, it rains and they live in Walford'. It's not looking good for Tanya, is it?"

EastEnders actor Stefan Booth has revealed his character Greg Jessop would love to be a father.

The soap star thinks his toy boy character is keen to start a family with fiancee Tanya Branning, who already has three children, but isn't sure Greg will ever get his wish.

Stefan said: "I'm sure kids would definitely be on the list of wants for Greg, everything that's secure and 2.4 and blissfully normal, but it's EastEnders isn't it?

"You're in EastEnders, the sky could fall on your head next with no prior warning, everything changes on a dime, so watch this space."

The builder is due to marry Tanya next week, but the wedding is not set to run smoothly as Tanya still has feelings for her ex-husband Max, who is involved in a car crash with her daughter Abi on the way to the church.

Tanya may have doubts on her big day, but Stefan insists Greg really loves Tanya.

He said: "Greg adores Tanya - it's all he wants, he just wants a long-lasting, loving relationship, and to be honest with you it's nice to see that in a soap. It's unusual.

"Greg's going to have a great time. I think he's going to be remarkably oblivious to most of what's going on until the last minute in true Greg style.

"But it's what he's been building up to for the last few months, it's what he's always wanted with Tanya. And it's great to have a good old soap wedding isn't it?"

EastEnders star Jake Wood has revealed that he is glad the soap's writers are revisiting the unresolved feelings between Max and Tanya Branning.

The pair's relationship comes back to the forefront of the Walford drama this week as Max pays a visit to Tanya on the day of her wedding and claims that it should be him standing next to her at the church rather than her fiancé Greg Jessop (Stefan Booth).

In a further twist, Max has a car crash while taking daughter Abi to the ceremony later that day. EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood recently teased that the accident could spark changes for Tanya, Greg, Max and his partner Vanessa.

Speaking to Scottish tabloid the Sunday Mail about Max and Tanya's complicated relationship, Wood commented: "Max and Tanya are intertwined. They can't live with each other, they can't live without each other. I'm sure everyone knows couples like that.

"It's never felt to me like they are going over old ground. Their relationship started as an affair, she was a babysitter and Max was married at the time. In a way if that comes around again, it's kind of full circle for them. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for them."

Wood also claimed that it is easy for people to relate to Max's complicated personal life and his many mistakes.

He said: "It's my job to make it work, no matter what he does. I have to find justification for him and 90% of the time it's spot on. He's the kind of guy for whom the grass is always greener. People know guys like that. They get a good thing and mess it up for one reason or another.

"It's always felt very truthful to me. Sometimes, he's a bad boy but essentially he's good-hearted. He wants to do the right thing but he doesn't always do it or go about it the right way. He hasn't got the tools to do it."

Then Tanya, played by Jo Joyner, is torn between them as Greg pressures her to start a family.

"The shoe's on the other foot for Tanya because in the past she's been a victim of Max's cheating."

EastEnders star Stefan Booth has refused to rule out the possibility of a punch-up between his character Greg Jessop and love rival Max Branning.

Greg tied the knot with Max's ex-wife Tanya (Jo Joyner) last month, though viewers have seen that Tanya seems unable to fully switch off her feelings for her former partner.

At the same time, Max is also still harbouring hopes of a reunion with Tanya after they enjoyed a passionate clinch following his recent car accident.

Discussing who would win in a fight between Greg and Max, Booth told Inside Soap that Greg "would do his best to avoid fisticuffs" in most areas of his life.

However, he added: "If he had to fight over anything, it would definitely be to defend Tanya or their love together. That's the one thing he'd step up for."

Meanwhile, asked whether he would like Greg to show a darker side, Booth replied: "Greg's tough but gentle. He's fundamentally a nice guy and it's rare to get that in a soap. He seems very straightforward, so it's refreshing for Tanya to have that influence in her life."

Tanya and Max were recently tipped to have an affair in a forthcoming storyline.

EastEnders' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood has confirmed recent press rumours surrounding romance storylines for the Branning family.

Earlier this year, ex-couple Tanya (Jo Joyner) and Max (Jake Wood) were tipped to cheat on their respective partners Greg and Vanessa by embarking on a steamy affair, while their daughter Lauren was said to be heading for a fling with Ryan Malloy.

Kirkwood has now confirmed that both stories are going ahead in an interview with Inside Soap.

Teasing Max and Tanya's future, the Walford boss explained: "Over the coming months, we'll see a very hot and steamy affair between the ex-husband and wife. They're living on opposite sides of the Square and both are irresistibly drawn to each other.

"But there'll be a huge, life-changing shock for Tanya, which will have massive repercussions for the affair."

Lauren's (Jacqueline Jossa) new plot with Ryan, meanwhile, will come following her recent attempts to support the barman's half-sister Whitney Dean following her ordeal with sinister pimp Rob Grayson.

Kirkwood told the magazine: "In the last couple of months, we've seen Whitney get back on her feet and rehabilitate herself, mostly with the help of best friend Lauren. But now Lauren's set to have a torrid affair with Ryan, which will really shake things up.

"And added into the mix is evil Rob, who's set to return to the Square just at the point where Whitney is perhaps at her most vulnerable."

EastEnders is expected to air both storylines over the summer months.

TEEN minx Lauren Branning will expose her dad as a love rat for the second time in EastEnders.

When Max pulls out of his wedding to Vanessa Gold he refuses to tell his fiancée why.

But daughter Lauren is only too pleased to reveal that Max is still in love with her mum Tanya Jessop and that the pair have been having a sizzling affair.

The babe, played by Jacqueline Jossa, famously exposed Max’s affair with his daughter-in-law Stacey Slater four years ago.

Distraught Vanessa, played by Zoe Lucker, has no idea what she has done wrong and pleads with Max to tell her the reason for the split.

Max (Jake Wood) insists there is no one else but Lauren decides Vanessa deserves to know the truth.

Max is then forced to admit his ex Tanya is the one he has always loved, leaving Vanessa in pieces and her dream of a double wedding with daughter Jodie and fiancé Darren Miller in tatters.

An EastEnders insider said: “Everyone remembers how Lauren exposed Max’s affair with Stacey – it was one of the soap’s most dramatic episodes ever.

“So bosses decided it would be brilliant if she ruined her dad’s love life all over again by telling Vanessa he’s a cheat.

“Lauren’s relationship has always been strained with her dad. Things got so bad a few years ago that she even tried to run him over.

“When she finds out that her mum Tanya has fallen back into his arms she does not like it one bit. She blames everything on her dad and, with his track record, you can’t blame her.

“Vanessa is devastated by the news. She never saw it coming and had no idea about Max’s secret meetings with Tanya. What she does next remains to be seen. But one thing everyone can count on is that the fall-out from the affair will be huge.

“Fans have seen how Vanessa has become more unhinged these last few months as her obsessive compulsive disorder has taken hold.

“The conclusion will be a must-see for all EastEnders fans.”

Nearly 14million viewers tuned in on Christmas Day 2007 when Lauren revealed her dad’s affair with Stacey, the new bride of his son Bradley.

She wrapped up a DVD showing the pair kissing and talking about their affair which was played to the entire Branning family as they celebrated Christmas.

Viewers of the hit BBC1 soap will be able to watch the drama come to its gripping climax when Lauren exposes her parents’ affair later this summer.

Stefan Booth has insisted that he is not as naïve as his EastEnders character Greg Jessop, admitting that he would have dumped cheating Tanya weeks ago.

Greg is currently oblivious to the fact that his wife has been having an affair with her ex-husband Max Branning (Jake Wood), but the infidelity storyline is expected to reach an explosive climax in next week's episodes.

Booth commented during an appearance on This Morning today: "Poor old Greg - he's been taken for a ride, hasn't he? He really has. But it's been a really great experience up until this point and I'm really glad. What was meant to be three or four episodes has turned into a gargantuan year."

Asked if Greg is completely blind to Tanya's (Jo Joyner) affair, the actor replied: "He is. I have to be honest, if it was me, I would have been out in half an hour and I'd have been gone! But that wouldn't be much of a storyline, would it?"

Booth confirmed that the next few episodes of EastEnders will see "it all coming out in the wash [and] really hitting the fan". However, he would not reveal the exact outcome of the plot.

"It's really great the storyline has come out for some people, but for me, I get really disappointed when I see a storyline that's leaked," he explained. "For us guys, we work so hard to make sure that everything surprises people."

Booth added: "I can't wait for you all to see it - enjoy it. EastEnders is a really good place to work - it's a really good bunch of people. And working with Jo and Jake, they're solid actors to work with. They all are."
