On last week's Richard & Judy, HOLBY CITY actress Tina Hobley revealed that Ian Aspinall, who plays Mubbs, will also be leaving the show this year.

Ian was currently one of the longest serving cast members having joined the show in Series 4.

He joins Art Malik (Zubin) and Mark Moraghan (Owen) who have also announced their departures.

BBC Publicity confirmed the story adding 'Ian Aspinall will be leaving Holby City in the summer but will remain on screen until October.'

Series Producer Emma Turner said 'Mubbs is a fantastic character but as the show moves away from focusing on the Maternity Ward there will not the storylines to keep his character at the heart of the drama.'

The show plans to focus on cardiothoracics and introduce some exciting new characters.

Rumour has it that midwife Mickie will train to become a doctor, to keep her character in the show.

It does seem like half the cast is leaving. I was down last week and nearly everyone I saw, I was like, you're leaving soon, whos gonna be left?

can there be that many new characters brought in at one time? usually there are one or two brought in at a time and they fit in with the others but so many at once will be too much.

I guess they won't bring them all in together. Owen is leaving at Christmas but Mubbs, Zubin and Lisa leave before that, they leave in September/October-ish time.

what about Donna ??? I must have missed it,,, I know she didn't get that job and Mark was chosen over her,, so can any one bring me up to date ??? Also is Ric's ex wife Lola gonna stick around ??? she is a hoot !!! I really like her cos she annoys the heck out of Connie:p

I Hate seeing all those cool characters leave,, but i am sure they are leaving for greener pastures,, i remember just before Donna came on ,,her contract was just for one season...so maybe this is it ???
WHAT DID U GUYS THINK ABOUT RIC AND DIANE IN ZIMBAWE ??? :hmm:

aw i like donna! and ric and diane went to ghana didnt they lol. i thought it was a really good episode and quite sad in some parts. what did you think??

I think donna and lola ( Ric's ex) would have been one heck of a team and they would have drove Connie up the wall..:rotfl:
Ric and Diane were superb... they were so different than they were in the Holby setting,, Yea parts of it was sad,but I wonder what is gonna happen tonight when Diane returns to Owen ????:searchme:

if zubins leaving he may leave jess - poor her!

i hope chrissie and owen dont get togehter just before he leaves. thatll be sad.

i wanted donna to stay. i think she brought a kind of energy to 'the staff' and some things she did did make me laugh.

ok so loads of peopel have said that quite a few people are leaving but i only know that owen, lisa and mubbs and i think Zubin is leaving is there anyone else??

well not really but i like owen mubbs and if donna leaves then i like her to. they always get rid of the good ones lol... i dont like lisa though shes just annoying!
