How to learn a language

Just wondering has anyone been able to leanr a language, or a bit of one through those CDS and stuff Im always seeing adverts for on the telly?
Are they any good?
Would anyone reccomend them?

If you havent used them like me, is anyone thinking about giving it a go or wanted to just never have time?

Abbie.. I am currently learn German and like you I was wondering about CD etc... I found that the BBC site was really good for me http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/
they test your current level and suggest courses.. I took the German steps course and each week I got an email on the module I had to do (speaking, writing and reading) and at the end of the course you do a test.

After this I found Before you know it which I found to be fantastic and has loads of language to choose from. You can download basic package for free and decide then if you want to upgrade. Comment on this is that is much better than Rosette Stone (they work very similar) http://www.byki.com/

My currently level now is that I am starting to read and translate books in German.

Wow thanks, Ive downloaded the second one, going to have a look now and see what its like :)

I just feel after going to Morocco I would love to speak french a bit more and if I would to travel next summer

Then BBC site and BYKI are best for starters and the basics.. that dictionary is just for some words you need to translate.. Good luck or I should say Bon Chance
