View Full Version : Patsy pregnant with baby no. 4
EASTENDERS' star Patsy Palmer is pregnant with her fourth child.
The actress, who plays loud-mouthed Bianca, is thrilled that she is expecting with taxi driver husband Richard Merkell.
She will take maternity leave but will return to Albert Square, where her on-screen husband is Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen).
A spokeswoman for the BBC1 soap said: "We can confirm Patsy is pregnant and that she's delighted."
The redhead, 38, is already showing a slight baby bump.
And an onlooker who saw her shopping near her Brighton home said: "She looked absolutely radiant."
Patsy already has Fenton, nine, and Emilia, eight, with Richard, and 18-year-old son Charley from a relationship with former boxer Alfie Rothwell.
Wonder if they write the pregnancy into a storyline, would be nice if Bianca and Ricky could have another baby :D

EASTENDERS Patsy Palmer has given birth to a baby boy - after spending three weeks in hospital following a pregnancy scare.
Little Bertie - Patsy's fouth child - arrived a month early and will spend the next few weeks in hospital. But he is said to be "healthy and well".
A family friend said: "Patsy's waters broke a few weeks ago and she was rushed to hospital. To be on the safe side she stayed in. Bertie arrived last Wednesday and the family are all over the moon."
Patsy, 38, - who plays Bianca in the BBC soap - has two other children with husband Richard Merkell and a son from a previous relationship.

Patsy Palmer has revealed she'd consider heading up to Weatherfield.
The soap queen, best known for playing feisty Bianca Jackson in EastEnders, is currently on maternity leave after giving birth to her fourth child Bertie in December, and hinted she wouldn't mind jumping ship to rival ITV soap Coronation Street.
"Yeah, if they wanted me to - at the moment I wouldn't as I'm looking after my baby, but why not?" she told Piers Morgan on his Life Stories show.
"I don't miss it [EastEnders]. At the moment I'm being a mum and that's the job I want to do, so I don't miss being at work. I don't know when I'm going back."
Patsy's alter-ego Bianca was sent to prison on the soap after attacking Connor Stanley (Arinze Kene), a storyline that was brought forward by the actress' early labour.
"I wasn't supposed to be leaving as early as I did, but my waters broke - on my one day off!" she recalled.
"They had a huge story that was meant to be happening, but it had to be redone."
The 38-year-old now fears for the fate of her character: "You could be watching it one minute, then it's your funeral the next. You never know."

Patsy Palmer has reaffirmed her commitment to returning to EastEnders "when the time is right".
The actress made a swift departure from the soap in December as she gave birth to her fourth child Bertie almost a month before he was due. She later denied reports that she had decided to quit the programme due the controversy surrounding Ronnie Branning's baby swap storyline.
Speaking in a new interview with Closer magazine about her future as Bianca Butcher, Palmer explained: "I have every intention of returning when the time is right.
"I'm just seeing what happens. I'm not on contract there anymore but I would never write it off."
She added: "I can't imagine going back full-time because I just don't want to leave [Bertie]. I don't even want much time to myself."
Palmer's screen husband Sid Owen is also currently on a break from EastEnders to focus on charity work. However, the pair have been tipped to return to screens in 2012.

What's going to happen to Bianca and Ricky's kids. Are they going to get dumped with Pat or Carol?
Patsy Palmer has revealed that she is in talks to appear in a US drama, after taking time off from her role in EastEnders.
Palmer, who plays Bianca in the soap, is currently on maternity leave after her fourth child Bertie was born in December.
She has previously said that she will return to EastEnders "when the time is right", but now says that she will be back on the square if the US deal doesn't go through.
She told the News of the World: "I've got a meeting but I'm sure I won't get the job. When you see me back on EastEnders you'll know I didn't!
"Instead of Hollywood, chances are I'll end up back in Borehamwood."
Palmer has said that returning to work will be difficult because she wants to spend "every minute" with Bertie. She also has three other children - Charley, 19, Fenton, 10, and Emilia, 9.
Her on-screen partner Sid Owen is also planning to take a break from EastEnders in order to pursue charity work, although the pair are tipped to make a comeback in 2012.

I would have like to have seen at least one scene in eastenders recently, and that is to see bianca and whtiney talking to each other in prison.
EastEnders star Patsy Palmer has revealed that she would not rule out having another baby.
Palmer, best known for her role as Walford mum Bianca Butcher, gave birth to her fourth child Bertie late last year.
Speaking to The Mirror while on holiday in Spain with her children and husband Richard Merkell, the actress commented: "I still can't believe I'm the mother of four children. It's a huge source of pride for me, not to mention achievement.
"It's hard work but I have help from Richard. He's a great dad and a fantastic husband. Bertie is in a lovely routine now and it's great to spend this time here with him. Every day I see him doing something new and I don't want to miss a thing. It brings a tear to my eye. He is so beautiful.
"I love being a mum. I could easily have another baby and I would never rule it out. I reckon I must have a baby-making machine in me somewhere."
Palmer added: "I don't miss working at all. In fact, I don't even watch EastEnders now. I'm too busy being a mum."
Palmer made an abrupt departure from EastEnders last year as Bertie arrived almost a month prematurely.
She is now out of contract with the BBC soap but has previously said that she would like to return as Bianca "when the time is right".
EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer has revealed that she recently suffered a miscarriage.
The star found out that she was pregnant just months after giving birth to her fourth child Bertie last year.
Palmer revealed that she discovered that she had lost the baby during a scan in October, but that her family were able to help her through the difficult time.
"It was a shock to be pregnant so soon after having our baby Bertie," she told Hello. "At first I was excited but, deep down, I felt fearful that I wasn't physically strong enough.
"Then, at my nine-week scan in October, they told me I'd lost the baby. We don't know why. But it shook us all.
"We'd got used to the idea of having another one in the family. I even joked that I'd be like the old woman in the shoe who had so many children she didn't know what to do. It was especially sad for the kids."
She added: "My mum recognised the symptoms. She said the light had gone out of my eyes. I've suffered with depression before. I told myself to be brave and to be grateful for what I've got - four amazing children. I know how lucky I am. My family are the light of my life."
Patsy Palmer will make a return to EastEnders later this month as Bianca Butcher after making an abrupt departure last year.
Patsy Palmer has revealed that she would like more children with husband Richard Merkell.
The EastEnders actress, who already has a family of four, said she would like to double her brood to eight.
Referring to her upcoming six-month hiatus from the Walford serial, the star told Inside Soap: "I think my kids would be unhappy if I was at work all the time.
"But going into work is like an out-of-body experience, and it's hard. It takes time to adjust, and that's why I need a little bit of time off - otherwise I'd go mad!
"My husband Richard is so brilliant, though. None of my children are stressed because he's so amazing. I'd love to have another four kids if I could!"
Teasing Bianca's financial ruin and Albert Square exit, Palmer said: "Bianca has a mad moment, but I think she's delirious at this point.
"Imagine not having a penny to your name, and not being able to do a thing about it.
"This sort of situation is happening to more and more people every day, so I'm glad that we're doing this storyline."
EastEnders star Patsy Palmer and husband Richard Merkell have renewed their marriage vows.
The couple enjoyed a white wedding on a Caribbean beach last week after deciding to reaffirm their commitment to each other.
Palmer and Merkell originally tied the knot in 2000 shortly after the premature birth of their son Fenton.
Reflecting on the original ceremony, Palmer told Hello: "When I married Richard, everything was such a rush. I'd just given birth to Fenton prematurely at 32 weeks and he had to stay in hospital.
"We went to register Fenton's birth at Chelsea Register Office and out of all the gloom and worry we wanted to do something really lovely and get married.
"I was still big from my pregnancy so I didn't wear a proper wedding dress, just a baggy cotton frock, and we never even bothered with wedding photos."
Palmer added that the Caribbean wedding was "every bit a celebration of our lives and love for each other".
She explained: "We wanted a simple but spiritual ceremony with lots of fun and laughter and to take away some really lovely happy memories, as well as make the children feel secure. It was exactly that and more. I feel really blessed.
"I think every married couple should do it every ten years. It is so easy to get divorced now but much harder to stay married."
Mum-of-four Palmer is currently on a six-month break from EastEnders. Viewers will see her character Bianca Butcher depart screens on Friday (April 27).
Patsy Palmer is aware that her EastEnders alter-ego may be written out in the future.
The 39-year-old actress, who is taking a six-month break from mouthy market seller Bianca Butcher, acknowledged that writers may make the decision to axe her character from the BBC soap one day.
"I'm really grateful that I've got such a good job, but at the same time I don't get paid for not going to work so in effect I'm losing out on six months worth of wages," she said on This Morning.
"You never know when they're going to do that on EastEnders. Obviously some amazing characters have been written out or died. They haven't written me out yet, but you never know."
Patsy - who makes her last EastEnders appearance before her Albert Square exit tonight in a Bianca special, airing at 8pm on BBC One - revealed she's looking forward to spending time with her four children.
"Just when I went back after having the baby, I was signing a new contract and I just asked whether that would be possible," said the actress, who recently renewed her vows.
"Because it's the school holidays between March and September, they're at different schools, the baby's only 16 months old. And it's quite hard to juggle it all. And I don't like to keep saying no to them all the time. If they've got something at school, I like to be involved in that."
