carl tried and successfully won back chas after so long they go and ruin everything again by giving him a storyline where he cheats on her or wants to cheat on her? how stupid

I'm struggling to see how the police can charge Ryan or am I missing something? Investigating him sure, but actually charging him would require actual evidence of some kind.

I'd have thought with the police looking into Nathan and Natasha, their actions would be so glaringly obvious I would have thought they would be heaqvilly onto them.

Nathan planted the gun in Ryan's house or the garage I think

He also got Ryan's jacket last week and tried to get gun shot residue on it, and when he was putting the jacket back he took Ryan's jewelry. No doubt he will plant this somewhere near where they find the body. That's probably what deflects the attention from Nathan to Ryan.

Even though Sharach really had no redeeming characteristics, Friday's episode was really touching.. Sad but a fitting end but poor old Marlon is going to be wracked with guilt.

Carl and Eve's attraction grows

Carl breaks down on a job and Eve kindly offers to go get him for Chas. Flirty Eve saves the day and later Carl tries to repay her by giving her some money.

Eve adamantly informs Carl she isn't taking any cash, but still seductively insists he owes her. How much longer can Carl fight temptation?

Meanwhile, a hopeful Viv suggests to Bob that they give their marriage another shot, but they both come to the conclusion that they've lost their spark.

Elsewhere, the Dingles give Shadrach a good send-off at his funeral; Leyla is disappointed by lack of custom at her new shop; and tensions run high between Natasha and Nathan.


New evidence is found near Mark's grave
Airs on Tuesday, August 3 2010 19:00 BST on ITV1

Nathan relaxes as the police question the Wyldes about a gold chain found near Mark's grave.

Natasha panics upon hearing the news, but Nathan assures her that their plan is starting to come together. Who does the chain belong to?

Meanwhile, Carl tells a furious Eve that he knows about her money troubles. He uses her collecting him yesterday as an excuse to give her some cash and they share a charged moment before Chas interrupts. Is Carl getting in too deep?

Elsewhere in the village, Leyla continues to worry about her lack of customers but is touched when Doug buys some groceries he doesn't need.

Later, she's frustrated when she shuts the shop to go to the loo and misses out on some business. She resolves to be more professional and is determined to make it work.

Aaron also faces frustration when Cain refuses to help him to buy a car which he's sure will be a real money spinner. Against everyone's advice, he decides to do it on his own.

The police arrest Ryan
Airs on Wednesday, August 4 2010 19:00 BST on ITV1

EmmerdaleThe police confirm that the DNA on the chain found near Mark's grave is Ryan's and begin questioning Katie about his whereabouts on the night of Mark's murder.

Natasha quietly wonders if their plan is coming to fruition when Faye is taken to the police station. But when Faye can't confirm Ryan's alibi, the police head straight to the garage and arrest Ryan on suspicion of murder.

Meanwhile, Scarlett vents to Eve about how much Carl belittles her and Eve sneakily uses it as a chance to flirt as she offers him advice about dealing with Scarlett.

Carl's attempts to make it up to Scarlett fail, but he doesn't care as long as he's in Eve's good books. Will Carl's infatuation subside or will it get the better of him?

Elsewhere, Aaron uses money from the garage petty cash to buy the car to do up and sell on, while Nicola struggles to cope with Val overruling her.

Another discovery implicates Ryan
Airs on Thursday, August 5 2010 19:00 BST on ITV1

Ryan is deeply unnerved as the police question him and he can't explain why his chain was near Mark's grave. When officers searching Dale View discover Ryan's jacket is covered in gun residue, it's clear he's going nowhere fast.

Natasha is incredulous to realise Nathan set Ryan up instead of Faye, but he dismisses her and smugly triumphs at his plan coming together. Will Natasha save innocent Ryan?

Meanwhile, Nicola is at a loss when she signs for a beer delivery and Bob points out she's ordered too much and it's nearly reached its use-by-date.

Fortunately, Val saves the day and Nicola reluctantly agrees to thank her while Jimmy agrees he will take time off to help with the pub. Is the business too much for Nicola?

Elsewhere, Jimmy fumes at Carl for giving Eve cash and not telling Chas about it; Moira and John worry when Hannah is evasive and short-tempered after receiving a mystery text; Aaron arranges to take Jackson on a night out for his birthday but is put out when Jackson invites some friends along; and Katie feels guilty for talking to the police about Ryan and worries they could spin her statement.


The police find a gun at the garage

The police want to keep Ryan in as long as they can and attain a search warrant for the garage. Cain is troubled when the police find a patch of recently dug earth and when they uncover a gun, Cain is asked to make a statement.

At the police station, Ryan is sure he has been set up but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Meanwhile, Nathan taunts Cain about Ryan, and leaves him tormented by his knowledge that Ryan is the innocent one in this mess. But will Cain find the strength to do the right thing and tell the police about the wallet?

Meanwhile, Holly tries to paint a picture of innocence as she offers to babysit for Viv and Bob's twins. Impressed, Moira lends her some money to go out with Roz.

Adam soon chastises Holly for remaining friends with Roz, and out of earshot, Holly calls her friend and arranges to buy some pills. Will Holly ever learn?

Elsewhere, Jimmy pushes Nicola to realise they need Val's help; Aaron calls it a night when he can't shake his irritation at the arrival of Jackson's friends on their night out; and the rumour mill continues to grind in The Woolpack as people speculate about Ryan being a murderer.

Ryan is charged with Mark's murder

Ryan desperately tries to maintain his innocence as Faye hires him a decent solicitor. Meanwhile, Natasha guiltily comforts Maisie, who is struggling to cope.

At the police station, Ryan comes to the conclusion that Nathan framed him, but is trapped when all the forensics confirm that he killed Mark. Ryan is charged with murder, and as the news spreads through the village, Faye is on the brink as she insists she will prove Ryan's innocent.

Meanwhile, Holly is hungover and as she's not feeling up to working in the pub, she heads to the toilets for a pick-me-up. Later, she's wired as she listens to Viv's instructions for babysitting. After putting the twins to bed, Holly notices some pills on the shelf, and realising they're Valium, she pops a couple and hearing the door go she quickly pockets them.

On her way home, the Valium is kicking in and as Holly starts to feel drowsy, Aaron realises she's on something and confronts her. She quickly dismisses him, but will Holly get caught out?

Elsewhere, David and Doug comfort Leyla after her mum passes away; Paddy's thrilled to see Marlon so happy as they have a drink with Rhona in the Woolpack; Nicola becomes increasingly frustrated when she is unable to celebrate Angelica's birthday the way she'd planned; and Moira is relieved to find out Hannah isn't being bullied again but is shy over a boy.
