ITV's new-look breakfast show will be called Daybreak when Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley take the helm, the broadcaster has announced.

Bosses have been planning a massive re-vamp of the early morning GMTV show, which has already seen the departures of several presenters announced.

The BBC said on Thursday that Bleakley would not return to The One Show when it comes back on Monday. She was due to continue presenting the BBC1 magazine programme until September.

Viewers will see the transformed ITV1 show from September, broadcast from "brand new, state-of-the-art studios". Joining anchors Chiles and Bleakley will be an "unrivalled team of special correspondents tasked with setting the day's agenda", ITV said.

The wave of GMTV presenters who have already been announced as either set to leave or who have already gone includes Emma Crosby, Andrew Castle, Ben Shephard and Penny Smith.

Programme makers said the show will emphasise its news and "distinctive, credible journalism" as well as blending entertainment, sport, health, human interest and lifestyle stories.

Lorraine Kelly will present a revamped follow-on show to Daybreak live from a new studio in September. Lorraine is being billed as "the home of celebrity interviews and inspirational stories from exceptional people". She said: "I love breakfast TV and I am absolutely delighted to be continuing with my own show. I am also very lucky to have an incredibly talented and hard-working team and we are all looking forward to September."

Director of factual, daytime and GMTV Alison Sharman said Chiles and Bleakley would be the "lynchpins" of Daybreak, which aims to pull in new viewers as well as maintaining current ones. She said: "Since acquiring GMTV we have carried out a thorough review and set out to transform and significantly invest in a business that had been lagging behind its competitors in recent years. Change, both on and off screen, is an essential part of the process in our bid to reclaim the top breakfast show spot.

"We want to ensure that the core audience of housewives with children keep watching but are also determined to attract new viewers to our revitalised breakfast show. As we approach the next stage of this transformational journey, our newly confirmed anchors - Christine and Adrian - will be the lynchpins of Daybreak with their unique and brilliant partnership."

The revamp also sees the company GMTV Limited changing its name to ITV Breakfast Limited, with Daybreak and Lorraine both coming under its umbrella.

ITV have confirmed that GMTV will be rebranded as Daybreak.

Launching in September, the show will be hosted by Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley.

The £1.5m relaunch will include new music and graphics along with a new studio overlooking the River Thames which will be equipped with technology for high-definition broadcasting.

Chiles and Bleakley will be joined by a team of special correspondents with the aim of bringing viewers a more news-led show along with entertainment, human interest and sport features.

ITV Director of Factual and Daytime Alison Sharman said that the rebrand had been planned since ITV bought out Disney's 25P% stake in the show last year.

"Since acquiring GMTV we have carried out a thorough review and set out to transform and significantly invest in a business that had been lagging behind its competitors in recent years," she said. "Change, both on and off screen, is an essential part of the process in our bid to reclaim the top breakfast show spot."

She added: "We want to ensure that the core audience of housewives with children keep watching but are also determined to attract new viewers to our revitalised breakfast show."

Lorraine Kelly's current slot will also be rebranded as Daybreak Lorraine.

The 50-year-old presenter said: "I love breakfast TV and I am absolutely delighted to be continuing with my own show! I am also very lucky to have an incredibly talented and hard working team and we are all looking forward to September."

Kate Garraway has been confirmed as part of the Daybreak editorial team.

The GMTV presenter will join anchors Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley from September as the entertainment editor. Garraway's role will include covering all the major showbiz stories, interviewing A-list stars and covering entertainment events around the world.

Steve Hargreave will work alongside Garraway as the entertainment correspondent.

Speaking about her new role, the 43-year-old said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to spread my wings in an exciting new role. Showbusiness is big business and Daybreak will be the place for all the big interviews and stories."

Meanwhile, John Stapleton has been confirmed as the show's special correspondent, Richard Gaisford will be the chief correspondent, Dr Hilary Jones continues as the health editor, while Grainne Seoige will be the features editor.

Director of factual, daytime and GMTV Alison Sharman said: "Daybreak plays a key part in ITV’s ongoing transformation and reflects the fact that creative renewal lies at the heart of our schedule, which is being modernised and improved under Peter Fincham.

Kate Garraway has said that she is "thrilled" with her role on GMTV when it relaunches as Daybreak.

It was confirmed last week that the presenter will remain on the new show as entertainment editor.

In her New magazine column, Garraway wrote that she is "absolutely thrilled" with the new position.

"In the last ten years at GMTV, I’ve debated with three prime ministers, travelled five continents and shared the experiences of people at the heart of a decade of news events," she said.

"But, I must admit, that while I’ve loved debating financial policy with Gordon Brown and wading knee-deep in flood waters and the like on big stories, I am rather relishing the chance in my new job of curling up to chat with the likes of Brad Pitt. Wouldn't you?"

The 43-year-old claimed that she was excited about the revamped programme, which will be anchored by former One Show duo Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley.

"I’m also really looking forward to working with my new colleagues, Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, and making Daybreak a massive success," she said.

WENNGail Porter has admitted that she doesn't know whether she will be a part of ITV's new morning show Daybreak.

Porter currently works as a reporter on GMTV but told The Daily Telegraph that she has not heard anything about appearing on its replacement.

"Nobody knows anything," she said. "They haven't said if we will have jobs, no-one is talking contracts, nothing."

ITV has previously claimed that former One Show duo Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley will be at "the heart" of the show, while Lorraine Kelly's slot will be rebranded as Daybreak Lorraine.

Kate Garraway has also been confirmed as part of the editorial team alongside Steve Hargreave, John Stapleton, Richard Gaisford, Dr Hilary Jones and Grainne Seoige.

Daybreak is expected to launch in September.

Jonathan Ross's former house band 4 Poofs And A Piano have reportedly joined ITV's new breakfast programme Daybreak.

According to The Sun, the group will appear on Friday mornings and perform a song based on the week's news.

"We can't wait to work with the lovely Adrian - and of course Christine," they said in a statement.

Daybreak, which replaces GMTV, begins on Monday.

Sky's 'Sunrise' host Eamonn Holmes has reportedly dubbed 'Daybreak' presenter Christine Bleakley "Miss Stratosphere", suggesting that she may be thinking of herself as more important than she actually is.

According to The Daily Star, he said: "Oh yes, Miss Stratosphere. So pleased for her; let’s just hope she doesn’t forget about the little people as she continues to rise.”

The rival breakfast presenter also claimed to have turned down the chance to host ITV1's new show 'Daybreak', which Christine currently co-presents with Adrian Chiles.

“I was offered the role but turned it down. Yes, I guess it was a difficult decision but I don’t regret it. Why would I? I get to work with great people every day”, he commented.

Holmes also accused 'Daybreak' of taking ideas from his own show, as he stated: "I won’t be watching ['Daybreak'].

"I’m far too busy on my own show, although I take it as a compliment that they like ours so much they decided to steal elements from it for theirs. And they even tried to steal some of the team.”

'Daybreak' drew about 1 million viewers when it launched last Monday, compared to around 660,000 for its predecessor 'GMTV' last week.

Eamonn Holmes has criticised the reporting of comments he made about Christine Bleakley, claiming that the press are attempting to cause trouble between the pair.

Holmes told Bang Showbiz that the Daybreak host was "in the stratosphere now". He added that he was "really pleased" for his fellow Northern Irish presenter but hoped she "remembers all the small people on the way up".

"Some papers trying to make mischief re me and Christine Bleakley deliberately not choosing to see my remarks as humorous or self deprecating," he wrote on Twitter.

"Whatever ...it gives them their fun but they fail to add how long we have known each other and my personal and professional view that she will be Britain's biggest female telly presenter for the next 3 years. No-one is more thrilled for her success than me.

"I said she is STRATOSPHERIC - well she is and at the moment everyone else is just remotely trotting behind in terms of publicity."

Holmes also said that the breakfast TV competition is "good" and asked people to "enjoy the fight for viewers".

He added: "Ps However much I rate Christine, and few have helped or advised her more, I still think that SkyNews Sunrise is the best breakfast show."

Yesterday, the former GMTV host revealed that he turned down an offer to present Daybreak.

ITV1's new breakfast show 'Daybreak' has lost 20% of its viewers in just one week, dropping from 1 million to 800,000.

Its current ratings are raising doubts as to whether the show can bring more viewers to the channel than its predecessor 'GMTV', which came to an end on 3 September.

'Daybreak' sparked criticism before it even started, as ITV bosses decided to spend huge amounts of money to revamp their breakfast show, invest in a new studio and bring in former 'One Show' stars Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley to front the programme for an alleged cost of £10m.

A show insider told The Mirror: "No matter which way you look at it it's hugely embarrassing. ITV bosses have thrown everything at this to make it work - money, time and big-name stars but viewers are switching off, or worse, switching over.

"No one expected we'd be able to maintain a million viewers from the word go but to be lower than ‘GMTV’ already is disheartening to say the least."

Many 'GMTV' viewers – including some Yahoo! users – have also criticised 'Daybreak'.

Meanwhile 'BBC Breakfast' is still going strong, with 1.4m people tuning in to BBC One last Monday.

Lorraine Kelly is reportedly being considered for an "enhanced role" on ITV morning show Daybreak.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the presenter could anchor a revamped show next year after research suggested she was more popular than main hosts Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles.

A source said: "Lorraine was the only one of the main presenters scoring well on audience research. So she is likely to get an enhanced role, or even become one of the main presenters."

ITV bosses are said to be "tearing their hair out" after ratings for the GMTV replacement fell to 721,000 on Wednesday.

The source added: "The whole point of Adrian and Christine's partnership was viewers could speculate whether they were having a relationship in real life, but now they know nothing is going on."

Bleakley and Chiles both moved to ITV earlier this year on multi-million pound contracts. Kelly currently presents Lorraine every weekday morning following Daybreak.

Having watched a couple of episodes, I think the new show is appalling, bring back GMTV, way better than the current tosh imo. Even Lorraile is not going to save them

GLAMOUR girl Christine Bleakley faces the axe from ITV1’s crisis-hit Daybreak in a New Year shake-up.

Insiders at the breakfast show say the WAG, who has a £4million contract, has just weeks to save her job.

Monday’s audience was just 700,000 – 20,000 fewer than last week’s and nearly half that of main rival BBC Breakfast.

Part of the problem is believed to be Christine’s relationship with England and Chelsea football star Frank Lampard, 32.

Insiders say Christine, 30, is driving away viewers who can no longer relate to her now she has shed her girl-next-door image.

Viewers find Christine and co-host Adrian Chiles, 43 – so popular on BBC 1’s early evening One Show – a morning turn-off. Sources say one of them will be axed unless viewing figures enjoy a big boost soon.

GMTV veteran Lorraine Kelly, 50, whose slot after Daybreak has strong ratings, could make a sensational return – casting a shadow over Christine’s future.

A source said: “Part of Christine and Adrian’s appeal was their on-screen chemistry and mild flirt-ations, but that’s gone now that Christine’s dating Frank.

“Pairing Adrian with Lorraine would be a last throw of the dice, but it might work.”

I must be the only person who actually likes the show. I don't want anything heavy in the morning before work so it suits me fine. The fact a presenter is dating a premiership football player is of no consequence, I don't aspire to be like her no more than I aspired to be like Fiona Phillips when she presented it. That has no relevance to me whatsoever.

It could be a Bleakley Christmas for TV presenter Christine after reports her Daybreak morning show will be axed in just four weeks.

Sources in Dublin have reported that the Newtownards woman and her co-host Adrian Chiles have received official notice that the show is to be wound up.

Ratings have plummeted since the new show replaced GMTV in September.

Viewing figures for the show recently fell to around 600,000.

Its rival, BBC Breakfast, pulls in around 1.5m viewers every morning.

The new show was launched in September.

The two presenters made multi-million pound deals with ITV after falling out with BBC bosses and quitting The One Show.

News of the axe came after sources close to Galway-born Daybreak features presenter Grainne Seoige claimed her agent Noel Kelly was already in talks with ITV to try and salvage her UK TV career.

Celebrity agent Max Clifford has said he was not surprised by the news that Seoige is looking around for other opportunities.

“If I was her agent I would be getting her out there on other shows. Daybreak was a small step in the right direction,” he said.

“The problem is that it hasn't been a successful launch. Her agents have got to be looking at other things. She hasn't made her mark but then again she hasn't had the chance to.”

However, Mr Clifford believes ITV should give audiences longer to warm to Daybreak.

“I understood they had six months. I wouldn't believe four weeks but if they are making that decision then I'd say it's much too soon,” he said.

ITV bosses spent around £1m in rebranding and revamping the show with new sets and a big marketing push.

An ITV spokesman dismissed speculation that Daybreak was going to be axed.

“ITV made a long-term investment in new breakfast programming and, after over five years of decline for GMTV, Daybreak is already closing the gap in year-on-year decline after just one month, with housewives and children and younger audiences,” he said.

Christine Bleakley has stated that she was personally hurt by the criticism levelled at Daybreak.

The 31-year-old reiterated her belief that the ITV breakfast show had begun to improve, and confessed to taking initial criticism of the format to heart.

She argued to Buzz magazine: "People say they have a thick skin but we're all human. You do get upset.

"There are things that don't work, and we'll change them. We have the most magnificent view, but at 6am it's pitch black. We're learning as we go. We have to earn our right to be the choice in the mornings.

"Onwards and upwards. The last week has been great and I'm excited about the future."

Former GMTV regulars Lorraine Kelly and Fiona Phillips are amongst those to have spoken out against the replacement show, which has risen to almost 840,000 viewers in the last week.

DAYBREAK'S Adrian Chiles last night admitted its first episode was "a crock of ********".
The grumpy star, who defected from the BBC's One Show this year with co-host Christine Bleakley, said they had expected the ITV breakfast programme to be a "storming, immediate, runaway success".
More than a million viewers tuned in for its September 6 launch - but by the end of October the figure had halved. Brummie Chiles, 43 - still hopeful for the show's future - said: "Normally I'm pessimistic about absolutely everything.
"But, God forgive me my arrogance, I tried being positive about this. I was absolutely sure. And I was absolutely ********** wrong."
Bleakley, 31 - dating Chelsea ace Frank Lampard - said of the first show: "We got through it, put it that way. We thought it was OK."
Chiles added: "And then we woke in the morning and found out it was actually one of the biggest crocks of ******** anyone had seen in years."
But he said: "I think it can work. Lately we've had a laugh - it's more like the old days.

Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley may be sidelined from their Daybreak presenting role in the New Year or even axed outright, a show source has suggested.

Bosses on the troubled ITV breakfast programme are said to be "seriously considering" replacing the former One Show pair with stand-in hosts Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway on a more regular basis from January.

An insider told The Sun'sBuzz magazine: "Ratings go up every time they pair up, and the feedback from viewers has, not surprisingly, been that Dan has much more sex appeal than Adrian."

However, when questioned about an increased role on the show, Lobb stated: "It’s flattering that people like seeing us on the sofa, but I enjoy working as part of a team."

Chiles recently confessed that he had wrongly assumed that his reunion with Bleakley would be an "immediate runaway success".

DAYBREAK host Christine Bleakley will be made to work a bit harder for her £4million deal with ITV - by fronting her own game show as well.
Christine, 32, will present Control - a general knowledge quiz with a twist, where contestants compete for cash prizes.

An insider said: "Details are under wraps, but it's a brand new quiz show which will put Christine firmly into prime time.

"The questions will appear pretty easy but the person asking them will be making it difficult for them to get them right.

"Bosses said when they hired her that they wanted her to do stuff other than Daybreak.

"They're paying her a fortune so they need to get value for money. It will also do her profile some good - as she isn't exactly being seen by many early morning viewers."

Filming will start at the end of the month and the show is being earmarked for a peak-time slot on ITV1.

Christine follows £6million Daybreak co-host Adrian Chiles - who launched his own project, That Sunday Night Show, last month.

She has virtually disappeared from view since she controversially moved to ITV1 from BBC1's The One Show last year.

Daybreak, launched in September, is still pulling in a woeful 770,000 viewers - less than half of its BBC rival Breakfast.

ITV execs had hoped the figure would go up as it found its feet - but are now resigned to it being a flop.

Ian Rumsey has quit his role as the editor of ITV1's flagship breakfast show Daybreak.

Rumsey will remain in his post while ITV search for a replacement. He claimed in an email to staff that his decision to leave the programme had been "tough".

The former head of ITV News started as GMTV editor in May 2010 and oversaw the transition to the new Daybreak format.

Daybreak suffered from poor ratings in its first weeks on air and has fallen behind BBC Breakfast in the morning TV battle.

Hosts Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley's positions on the show have also become a constant source of tabloid speculation.

Kate Garraway has reportedly quit her role as entertainment editor on Daybreak.

The presenter, who was the only GMTV host to secure a role on its replacement, will leave when her contract runs out in September. Possible replacements are said to include Crimewatch's Rav Wilding.

Garraway's exit is thought to have come as a blow to her colleagues and follows the resignation of her former husband and the show's editor Ian Rumsey last week.

"Kate is a very popular member of the team so this is a huge blow. Morale really is at an all-time low," an insider told the Daily Star Sunday.

ITV1's troubled breakfast show has suffered a number of setbacks since its launch last year, with low ratings leading to the broadcaster admitting that the show had underperformed.

Anchors Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley's roles on the show have also been subject to speculation and BBC Breakfast's Chris Hollins has been tipped as a replacement for Chiles.

Garraway recently signed up to be a series regular on David Walliams's Sky1 panel show Wall of Fame.

Adrian Chiles's Daybreak presenting duties have been cut down to four days a week.

The 44-year-old will no longer host the Friday edition of ITV's breakfast programme alongside his former One Show colleague Christine Bleakley, a spokesperson confirmed.

"When we signed Adrian in 2010 it was always planned as part of the contract that he would move to four days a week on Daybreak in the second year of the show," the ITV rep clarified.

Although a replacement presenter has not yet been announced, it was reported in June that BBC Breakfast favourite Chris Hollins was being sought to fill Chiles's role.

Daybreak editor Ian Rumsey quit the programme on Wednesday following the prolonged damage caused by poor early ratings.

ITV has denied speculation that it will axe Chiles or Bleakley outright, saying that the stars' pay-offs would cost the channel £4m.

ADRIAN Chiles and Christine Bleakley have finally been axed by ailing ITV breakfast show Daybreak, it emerged last night.

The pair — hired on multi-million deals in a blaze of publicity last year — are set to leave in weeks.

It comes after the rebranded former GMTV breakfast show flopped, with ratings down to 350,000 on some days — only a FIFTH of rival BBC Breakfast.

Brummie Adrian, 44, is seen by many as "grumpy" and Christine, 32, as an "airhead" according to research.

A source said: "It's game over. ITV have tried everything to make the show work, but viewers are fed up with Adrian and Christine.

"The point of scrapping a well-liked brand like GMTV was to come up with something a lot better — but the opposite's been true."

An announcement is expected after new boss David Kermode arrives on December 1. The former BBC Breakfast editor is understood to have taken the job on condition he could change the hosts.

BBC Breakfast host Chris Hollins, ex-GMTV anchor Eamonn Holmes and Natasha Kaplinsky have been rumoured as possible replacements.

The shake-up could see bigger roles for second-tier Daybreak hosts Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway, Christine was last night made co-host of Dancing On Ice, replacing Holly Willoughby who is off to BBC1 to present new singing show The Voice.

Holly will continue to co-present ITV's This Morning with Phillip Schofield.

Christine, who is engaged to England soccer ace Frank Lampard, and Adrian previously fronted BBC1's One Show.

Adrian joined ITV on a £6million four-year contract while Christine was given a £4million deal.

Sian Williams has reportedly been offered a job on ITV's breakfast show Daybreak.

Last weekend, it emerged that the programme's current hosts Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley will be axed from the series shortly.

Williams currently works on the BBC's rival morning show Breakfast, but reports have now claimed that she has been approached for Daybreak.

The rumours have been fuelled by previous reports that Williams does not want to move to Salford when BBC Breakfast relocates.

"ITV want someone who is equally at home grilling major figures as well as handling the more trivial topics that light up early morning viewing," a source told the Daily Mail.

"They believe they may be able to tempt her to join them because her life revolves around London."

Meanwhile, an alleged insider told The Sun: "If ITV managed to lure her away, it would be a huge coup."

However, a spokesperson for ITV denied the reports, while representatives for Williams and BBC Breakfast declined to comment.

When news of the Daybreak shakeup first leaked, Natasha Kaplinsky and Eamonn Holmes were named as frontrunners for the show.

Holmes has since confessed that he would like to be considered for the job but Kaplinsky appears to have ruled out the possibility.

Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles will leave Daybreak at the end of the year, ITV has confirmed.

Last week, reports suggested that the pair were being axed as presenters of the breakfast series, after failing to help the show compete against its BBC rival in the ratings.

Announcing their exits, the broadcaster said that both Bleakley and Chiles were stepping down from their roles in order to focus on their peaktime commitments.

Peter Fincham, ITV director of television, said: "Adrian and Christine are both superb presenters. They have worked tirelessly to help establish Daybreak on ITV1 and they leave the show at a point when ratings have recently seen their biggest year-on-year increase.

"Adrian has had a hugely positive reception as the host of ITV's live football coverage since he joined us for the 2010 World Cup and I'm pleased that he will be at the helm of the UK's biggest free-to-air football offering, and will continue to present his successful That Sunday Night Show."

Fincham added: "I'm delighted that Christine will join Phillip Schofield as the host of one of our biggest entertainment hits, Dancing on Ice, as well as our Christmas event, Text Santa - and as we look ahead to next year we will be working with her on two exciting new peaktime projects."

As well as hosting Dancing On Ice, ITV also confirmed that they are working with Bleakley to develop a new peaktime factual entertainment challenge show, as well as a home renovation programme.

ITV had previously pledged it's support to the duo, who both joined the channel last year. However, speaking earlier this year, ITV chief executive Adam Crozier admitted that the GMTV replacement had underperformed.

ITV is axing Daybreak, it has been reported.

The Mirror has revealed that the breakfast show is being dropped just two years after its £10 million launch.

Lorraine Kelly is reportedly lined up to host the new show. Current hosts Kate Garraway and Dan Lobb may still be involved in the new format, which will likely focus on news for the first hour until 7am.

GMTV's Richard Arnold is also believed to be returning as a showbiz reporter.

ITV is said to fear that the programme is still associated with presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, who left the show at the end of last year.

A source told the newspaper: "If anything this shows that GMTV wasn't a failing formula after all and should never have been axed."

An insider added of the new show: "One working title is Lorraine but that's not popular with everyone and may not stay. There are plenty of other possibilities

"It wasn't the name that didn't work out, but the programme itself. All the focus is on getting the show right this time."

ITV admitted in March 2011 that Daybreak had not performed as well as hoped following the launch of the series.

After moving on from the show, Chiles said that he accepted "a lot of blame" for its failure, admitting he was "dead wrong" for it.

Daybreak will be relaunched with Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones as presenters, it has been announced.

The ITV breakfast show, which replaced GMTV in September 2010, is currently fronted by Kate Garraway and Dan Lobb.

Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley were the franchise's first presenters, but were dropped towards the end of last year.

Kelly, who was first linked to the hosting role in March, said: "I'm really looking forward to this challenge and to working with Aled who is a warm, funny and a thoroughly decent bloke and is already a good friend."

Meanwhile, Jones added: "I am so thrilled to be joining ITV for their breakfast show. I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing the sofa every morning with such a consummate professional as Lorraine Kelly.

"We've known each other for a very long time and have always had a lot of fun together. We hope that the viewers enjoy being part of our breakfast family."

The news appears to rule out Daybreak changing its name completely due to low ratings, as had previously been speculated.

Breakfast TV favourite Kelly hosts Lorraine after the Daybreak junction between 8.30am and 9.25am, while Jones is best known for fronting BBC One's Songs of Praise.

ITV's factual and daytime commissioner, Katy Thorogood, expects the pair to become a "formidable partnership".

Both stars will take up their positions on the programme later this year.

It will be nice to have breakfast with Lorraine for a change, I normally leave before she comes on in the morning. I think Lorraine and Aled will work well together. I'm glad Kate never got it she is hopeless as a presenter.

Gethin Jones is joining ITV1's breakfast programme Daybreak from Monday, May 21.

Jones will be the features reporter and his first role will be presenting a week long special for Children’s Hospice Week.

He will be visiting different hospices around the country each morning meeting children and their families and looking at the great work they do.

He started filming last week when he took a group of children from a hospice to meet Simon Cowell on the set of Britain’s Got Talent.

The following week Jones will front the Jubilee Jamboree feature, a series of special broadcasts from around the UK to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Jones said: I'm delighted to finally announce that I'm joining the Daybreak team. Filming started a few weeks ago, involving preparation for Children's Hospice Week and the Diamond Jubilee. I hope you can join us to share the stories of these remarkable children and to celebrate the 60th anniversary in style!"

Editor of Daybreak, David Kermode, said: "We're so excited to have Gethin on board. He has bags of enthusiasm, he's brilliant at putting those he meets at ease and he has loads of experience of live TV. He's going to be a big star in our new line up."
