• Marlon (Mark Charnock) decides to help Shadrach (Andy Devine), whether he likes it or not

• Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) bids farewell to her life in the village as she introduces the new landlords of the woolpack
• Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is elated when Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley) offers to loan them cash for the pub. Will they be the new landlords or will someone else beat them to it?
• Nikhil (Rik Makarem) reveals the truth to a stunned Maisie (Alice Coulthard)

Meanwhile, Emmerdale's Maisie Wylde is left reeling when she finds Nikhil with another woman.

Turning up at the Sharmas' to make amends, Maisie's furious to see a scantily-clad Amber at the top of the stairs…

Shadrach agrees to stop drinking

Shadrach tells Marlon that he doesn't want to die and knows Marlon is right in what he says.

With that, Shadrach vows to try and stop drinking - even if it kills him.

Jai calls Nikhil's ex Amber and asks her to stop contacting him in the hope it'll help solve Nikhil's problem.

Elsewhere, Declan's patient as Natasha continues to push him away; and Val wants to throw Diane and Charlie a leaving do.


Nikhil's past catches up with him

Maisie's furious when she arrives at Holdgate to find Nikhil with a scantily clad woman. Will Nikhil finally tell Maisie the truth?

Meanwhile, Charlie thanks Rodney for being such a good friend and decides to give him his car.

Later, as Diane calls last orders for the final time, she realises how much she's leaving behind.

Elsewhere, Marlon's stumped when Shadrach gets philosophical about his life. When Shadrach sincerely asks Marlon for his help, Marlon triumphantly helps Shadrach pour away his alcohol.


Nikhil admits the truth to Maisie
Airs on Wednesday, July 21 2010 19:00 BST on ITV1

Diane makes her final preparations for France and transfers the rest of her cash. Later, she's moved by the effort that Val and Rodney have gone to with the leaving party but is disappointed that Doug hasn't turned up.

As she makes a poignant speech about her time in the village and how she'll always call it home, Diane introduces the new landlord and landlady of the pub.

Seeing Diane with her loved ones prompts Charlie to realise that he needs to let his daughter know that he's ill before he leaves.

With that, Diane encourages Charlie to say his own goodbyes, before waving him off in a taxi.

Meanwhile, Nikhil tentatively visits Maisie and comes clean. Maisie's relieved that Amber wasn't the only reason he was holding back and he's delighted Maisie isn't bothered in the slightest about his secret.


Diane and Charlie prepare to leave the village

Diane and Charlie are all ready to leave but will things go as smoothly as they'd planned?

The new landlords of The Woolpack revel in their new status - but will the locals get used to them?

Meanwhile, Declan tries to win Natasha around when he reveals that he's booked them a holiday.

Natasha's unenthused and regrets not being able to confide in him.


The Dingles decide to throw Shadrach a party
Airs on Thursday, July 22 2010 20:00 BST on ITV1

Diane's reeling following recent events.

Meanwhile, Marlon takes it upon himself to help Shadrach enjoy his birthday.

Marlon reminds the rest of the Dingles about what day it is and decides that they should throw him a birthday party.

Elsewhere, Nathan urges Natasha to take Declan up on his offer of a holiday when Cain threatens her again.

Natasha's later relieved when Declan confirms that the offer of a short break is still on the table.

Marlon's livid with Shadrach for drinking
Airs on Friday, July 23 2010 19:00 BST on ITV1

Marlon's optimistic that Shadrach's off the booze and excitedly arranges his birthday party. Meanwhile, Shadrach goes for a walk and when he returns and sees everyone gathered at Tall Trees, he's hesitant to join them.

Later, Laurel finds a sad Shadrach who admits he couldn't face his party sober. Eventually pushing him to show his face, Marlon's furious when he shows up after the party - inebriated.

Will the Dingles forgive Shadrach this time? Or will this be his last birthday in Emmerdale?

Meanwhile, Natasha's relieved that Will's fine about her relationship with Declan.

As she and Declan head off on holiday, Nathan promises not to do anything stupid in her absence.

So Shadrach dies on friday then. I think this storyline has been done too quickly, I was expecting his death to be drawn out and painful, to show what drinking that much does to your body.

I didn`t see that bit where Scarlet offered Nicola and Jimmy a loan.
Jimmy will make a much better landlord than Nicola will make a landlady.
