BTTB can exclusively reveal, thanks to our inside sources, that former Shortland Street series producer Jason Daniel has been appointed as Home and Away's new script producer.

Jason has an extensive worldwide background, starting out as a story editor on Neighbours between 1989-1991. From there he became head writer on Shortland Street before taking on a Drama Executive role for Grundy Europe. Following a 5 year stint as Head of Drama Development for Fremantle's US and European arms, he returned to Shortland Street as series producer until 2008.

Jason takes over from current script producer James Walker, who has held the role from mid-2009 - first jointly with Faith McKinnon, and then individually since the beginning of 2010's storylines.

As the script producer's plotting for the show is undertaken up to 6 months in advance, James' storylines will continue until the end of the year, with Jason's storylines debuting in the 2011 season.

Finally, there will hopefully be some life in the show once again rather than these dull storylines we've had of late.

Yeah, I'm bored of H&A at the moment - something I never thought I'd say.

I think there was another thread asking the same question or something very similar a few months back. I'm sure I replied in length then.
