2831: Kris and Mercedes come to blows
Airs on Monday, May 31 2010 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Malachy tries to convince the police that he murdered Calvin, while Mercedes urges Jacqui to turn Theresa in. The police grow suspicious of Malachy's story - is looks like he's simply trying to protect his wife.

With his brother prepared to take the rap for something he didn't do, Kris and Mercedes come to blows. When Malachy separates them, Kris is left facing an ugly truth: his brother's still protecting Mercedes, despite all she's done to him.

Malachy's expecting gratitude from Mercedes but instead, she delivers a short, sharp slap. If Malachy believes that Mercedes killed Calvin, is this the end for their marriage?

Meanwhile, Loretta makes Jake jump through hoops in order to please her. She's still furious that he slept with Caroline and insists that he makes amends.

Jake does tries his best to impress and he thinks that he's won Loretta round when she sneaks off to look at flats.

He's later surprised to find Loretta in a heated argument with an estate agent called Adam - and further amazed to see Adam push her away. Convinced that Adam's a psycho stalker, Jake sees red. Will Jake realise what's really going on?

Elsewhere, Ste watches Olly and Amy wander around half-naked and jealously tries to spoil their fun.



2832: Jake's shocked by Adam's revelation

Jake tries to convince Loretta to report Adam to the police. He's confused, though, when she fobs him off with a lame excuse.

Jake notes down Adam's number from Loretta's mobile and finally tracks him down. But when Jake finally hears Adam's side of the story, he's shocked to learn that Loretta's not telling him the whole truth.

With Loretta's dark jealously growing, does Jake need to watch his back?

Meanwhile, Jacqui pressures Theresa to make a decision about whether she's keeping Calvin's baby. When a confused Theresa wavers, Jacqui takes the decision out of her hands and books an appointment at an abortion clinic.

Desperate and isolated, Theresa turns to an unlikely ally for help.

Lauren worries about Leo as Calvin's death has hit him hard. Gaz, meanwhile, urges Lauren to go on the run with him but she's torn. Lauren realises that she loves Gaz but she can't bear to leave her grieving father…

Elsewhere, Darren does his best to help prepare Josh for the life he faces in prison. Darren, however, doesn't pull any punches - life at Her Majesty's pleasure is hell.

As reality dawns on Josh, he's horrified by what his future holds.



2833: Steph receives some tragic news

Tom warns Gilly to treat Steph right, while Steph receives some shocking news about her health…

Gilly tries to persuade Neville to see Josh - after all, his son could be sent to prison later in the week. Neville, however, is cold and dismissive.

Darren becomes concerned for the Ashworths as Neville and Suzanne row over Josh, prompting Suzanne to hit the bottle. Will Darren say 'no' when Suzanne turns her attentions to him?

At Kyle's flat, Theresa refuses to go home to the McQueens' but Kyle puts it to her in simple terms - if Theresa wants to use Kyle's pad as a halfway house, she needs to start paying her way.

Meanwhile, Jake wonders if he's worrying unnecessarily about Loretta. On the face of it, she's the perfect girlfriend, yet his niggling suspicions about her won't go away.

In a bid to buy himself some time to investigate further, Jake dodges questions about his plans to buy a flat with Loretta. Seeing Loretta's disappointment, Frankie comes up with a quick and ideal solution - Loretta should move in with them!

Elsewhere, Ste's confident that Olly's getting nowhere with Amy - that is until Olly plies Amy with drink…



2834: Jake ponders his future with Loretta

Steph tries to comes to terms with the devastating news about her health.

Confused by her sudden coolness, Gilly fears that she's missing Max - but Steph can't bring herself to tell Gilly the truth, so pushes him away instead. What will Gilly say when he learns the real reason behind her distance?

Meanwhile, Jake asks himself the burning question about Loretta - is she controlling him? Loretta's ex-boyfriend Adam shows up and warns Jake that she's dangerous and that he should steer clear.

Loretta, however, makes herself at home at the Osbornes'. With his concerns about Loretta falling on deaf ears, what will Jake do to resolve his girlfriend problem?

Amy panics that Olly's becoming frustrated with her as they've yet to sleep together. Ste's quick to remind her that she's not ready and insists that she make Olly wait until she is. With Ste scheduled to work all evening, though, Olly lets a seething Ste know that tonight's his night with Amy.

Intent on stopping Olly from bedding Amy, Ste changes his shift. But Olly sneaks out and shuts Ste in Relish's walk-in fridge. As Ste begins to shiver, things hot up between the sheets with Amy and Olly.

But when Amy realises she's still not ready for sex, will Olly stop and listen?

Elsewhere, Josh contemplates the charges he faces in court the following day and he's certain that he's going to prison.

Later, Dave announces that as it's Josh's last day of freedom, they're going to have some fun…




2835: Josh has his day in court

Amy tries to convince Olly that she's not ready to sleep with him but Olly turns vicious - he's not taking 'no' for an answer.

Theresa's outstayed her welcome at Kyle's house and as she dodges questions about the McQueens' involvement in Calvin's murder, Kyle reveals that the gang member he acquired the gun from wants it back.

Kyle threatens Theresa over the missing gun and issues her with an ultimatum - return the gun or she'll be badly hurt.

Meanwhile, the Ashworths are on edge ahead of Josh's court case. An inebriated Josh, however, turns up at Darren's flat in a state. Darren tries to sober him up in a bid to escort him to court on time.

Once there, Josh bravely refuses his family's help and takes one last look at them, before disappearing inside the courtroom. Rhys's guilt consumes him as he waits to hear his brother's fate.

Darren, meanwhile, tries to comfort a distressed Suzanne but overplays his hand.

Elsewhere, Ricky confides in Kris that he's struggling to help his father - he's in pain and is upset that he can't help.

Sensing Ricky's pain, Kris urges Martin to come clean to his son and admit that his condition is worsening. Martin, however, refuses to foul up Ricky's GCSEs and begs Kris for drastic help.

I am glad Hollyoaks are covering this and I think the actress will do a great job

Steph is one of the few hollyoaks characters who have grown and grown over the years. When she first appeared in Chester with her family she was a bit of a slut but she has matured and is the best of the Dean family. She will handle this story well and like Lacey Turner does have a future outside soapland not just in reality tv shows.
