Hollyoaks star Claire Cooper has revealed that she would love to join the cast of EastEnders in the future.

In an interview with DS, the actress said that it would be a privilege to land a part on the Walford drama if her current role as Jacqui McQueen ever came to an end.

Speaking of the BBC soap, Cooper commented: "You're never going to turn down work and it's a fantastic show in its own right. I'm so happy where I am right now, I try and live in the present rather than the future but if the opportunity ever arose and I wasn't here, gosh - I'd be delighted."

EastEnders' new executive producer Bryan Kirkwood helmed Hollyoaks for three years from 2006.

Asked how she felt when she heard about her former boss's new post, Cooper replied: "I was so chuffed. He's fantastic. He helped develop my character initially and supported me from the word go and trusted every choice that I made. I'm a friend of Bryan and think he'll do some fantastic work over there."

Although best known for her Hollyoaks role, Cooper has also appeared in Waking The Dead and Waterloo Road.
