And she’s going to cause even more trouble for the vicar and his wife, starting with the accusation that Ashley is the father of her unborn child.

Laurel had no idea what went on when she was away and she doesn’t like what she hears when Ashley tells her about Sally’s loony behaviour.

An Emmerdale insider said: “It’s going to be edge-of-the-cliff stuff.

“Viewers will see Sally at her craziest. Just wait and see what happens over the next few weeks..”

Danny Miller has admitted that he was nervous about playing a gay character in Emmerdale.

Speaking to The People, Miller explained that he was anxious about kissing other men in his role as Aaron Livesy.

"The producer called me in to discuss the direction he wanted to take with the character," Miller said.

"Being a straight actor and having to kiss another lad, I'm not going to lie, I was a bit worried about it, because it's a great test of your acting skills. And I wasn't expecting it. I'd never thought Aaron could be gay - he's probably the most unlikely person in the village to be gay."

He added: "I saw it as a challenge and said yes, but I was still quite anxious about it."

Miller also revealed that he is often the subject of homophobic abuse when he goes out.

"I already get the odd shout of, 'Oi, gay boy', which isn't nice regardless of whether you are gay or not," he said. "But you just have to keep your head down, because the minute you react to them or retaliate that's what they want."
