Unknown to Carla , Nick see the books, so what, do the scriptwriters think we are that thick? Carla knew what state the books were in when she said no to Nick the first time, so why would she now sell just because he know too ! It does not make sense ..

But this is typical soap life, phone conversations get overheard because the people on the phone turn their back to doorways etc. where somebody might be standing/passing by to hear, there are always people just passing as something is happening etc......
