View Full Version : Tracey frames Gail for murder
KILLER Tracy Barlow will return to Corrie to frame innocent murder suspect Gail McIntyre - in exchange for freedom.
Tracy, played by Kate Ford, is serving 15 years in prison for murdering lover Charlie Stubbs in 2007.
But when Gail (formerly Platt) is held on remand over the death of hubby Joe, Tracy is offered an early release deal in exchange for extracting a confession.
So Gail finds herself sharing a cell with Tracy. Deirdre and Ken's evil daughter then sets about manipulating Gail into opening up - before twisting her words in a bid to send her down.
Tracy reappears on screen in May, begging her jail governor to allow her to attend the funeral of grandma Blanche.
But after getting out for the day, she gets a taste for freedom.
Meanwhile, Gail (Helen Worth) is on remand in the same prison suspected of killing Joe, who died trying to fake his death in an insurance scam.
A Corrie source said: "With just three weeks until the trial, police tell Tracy they're willing to do a deal if she can get some new evidence, or a confession, from Gail."
Tracy jumps at the chance and the cops arrange for them to become cellmates.
Our source continued: "Viewers will have forgotten how manipulative Tracy is. She'll convince Gail they need to trust each other and offers to watch her back."
It's not long before Gail is opening up about Joe's death.
But Tracy keeps a mental note of all Gail is saying so she can twist the words for police.
Kate, 32, who quit Corrie in 2007, agreed to reprise her role after assurances her return would be dramatic.

HUH. I thought the producers said Traceyluvs release from jail would be realistic.
With Tracyluv, it could only be blackmail or framing somebody else. She obviously will not return to the Street a reformed character.
I think its ridiculous and unbelievable she should get remission on her sentence for giving hearsay and false evidence. She is after all a convicted murderer. I see the hand of Daran Little in her ridiculous return

Gail: Tracey, where did you get that tape recorder ? Tracey: Oh Gail , never you mind that , did you kill Joe , I know you must need the insurance money ! Tracey: Right Gail , could you just speak up loud and clear into this mic !
I know corrie is not like the other soaps , its more of a comedy half hour but for god sake !

this does sound rather ridiculous must admit. why do they want Tracey back anyway? the shows done fine without her..
omg so Tracey murdered in cold blood and can get out after 3 years very realistic
If Tracey does get enough evidence to be released, that would mean Gail is going down for a long time. Since I don't think Gail is leaving Corrie, how would that work?
It's all very dubious, and not realistic as we were promised.
Its a total load of TOSH!!!

And you said it wasn't EE.. At least EE would have tried harder!!

Dont get me started about EE and realism

Seems corrie is going the same way with this.. letting out a cold bloodied killer just so they can nab someone for another "killing"... which it will be proved as an accident.. then what happens to Tracy.. does she get put back inside???

I agree with you. If this story is true then its totally unrealistic and unbelievable. As you say when its proved that Joe died as a result of an accident then what happens to Traceyluv the murderer and perjurer.
At the end of the day any evidence she would present would be hearsay at best and totally in admissable in court. So much for the promised realistic release of Traceyluv.
It just shows what soap writers think of the people who watch their programmes
INNOCENT Gail McIntyre is put in the frame for husband Joe's murder - because of a ROLLING PIN.
Scheming Tracy Barlow tells cops her new cellmate battered the Coronation Street kitchen fitter to death with the pin.
She comes up with the story to stitch up Gail in a bid to win early release from prison.
Tracy - serving 15 years for killing violent lover Charlie Stubbs in 2007 - pretends to befriend Gail, who is being held on remand after her husband Joe's mysterious death. The widow opens her heart about her last memories of Joe (Reece Dinsdale).
The newly-weds spent their final days together at a lakeside cottage.
Joe's body was later found in the lake with head injuries caused by being knocked out by the sail on a boat trip. But Gail was arrested on suspicion of his murder. Gail (Helen Worth) tells Tracy she wanted to stop terrible cook Joe baking his beloved potato pie so she hid the cottage's rolling pin on top of a wardrobe.
Cunning Tracy (Kate Ford) tells cops that Gail used the kitchen tool as a weapon - and then hid it up on top of the wardrobe.
When police find the "weapon" in its hiding place, they are sure they have got Gail bang to rights.
An insider at the ITV1 soap told TV Biz: "Gail is terrified. She has to find a way to prove Tracy is lying." The scenes will be screened in May

A rolling pin?
This is all even more unlikely than our fantasy script (See the "all-purpose soap storyline" thread). Perhaps alan and I should get a job with Corrie!

FFS what a load of crap (if true)
She hid a rolling pin to stop him baking a potato pie. What utter nonsense. Gail clubbed Joe with a rolling pin, wiped the hair, blood and DNA off it and put it on top of a wardrobe. Come on this isnt EE.
Usually the Sun are very good with their spoilers but I doubt someone has thought this was the first day of April rather than the first day of spring.
The whole premise that Traceyluv would get 12 yrs knocked off a murder sentence for giving hearsay evidence against Gail 'Anthea Turner Wig' Platt is just preposterous in the first place.
I know its only a soap but surely a realistic storyline should be expected from Britains best loved soap
Just what you need for a trip to the lakes a bloody rolling pin - great writing Corrie

:rotfl: I think we'll be getting a good few laughs out of this storyline :D
What a load of rubbish. So the fact that there is a rolling pin on top of the wardrobe is enough to make the CPS believe that a guilty verdict is likely????? Wouldn't it have been fairly obvious from the Post Mortem that Joe had been killed by blows from a rolling pin? Obviously it's not real, but it has to have some grounding in reality. Grrr, this has wound me up.
Another thing that puzzles me is that Gail is on remand and is therefore legally innocent. Why oh why would she be put in the same cell as a convicted Murderer who just happens to be a neighbour. It seems to me that
1. No thought was put into the realism of this storyline.
2. EE wins awards for its unlikely and improbable fantasy storylines so therefore Corrie thought this would be a good idea.

CORRIE murderer Tracy Barlow is left fighting for her life after lags give her a savage beating for framing Gail McIntyre.
Cunning Tracy helps cops falsify evidence against Gail in a bid to get her 15-year jail term for killing boyfriend Charlie Stubbs reduced.
Trusting ... Gail McIntyre
Viewers will see Tracy, played by Kate Ford, share a cell with Gail (Helen Worth) and gain her trust in a bid to make her lies more believable.
Tracy claims that Gail clubbed her new husband Joe (Reece Dinsdale) to death for life insurance cash after discovering he was in serious debt with a loan shark.
But when her fellow inmates realise that Tracy has been helping the police, they corner her in the showers.
She is mercilessly kicked and punched until unconscious - and is left on the brink of death.
A top source told TV Biz: "Tracy is horrified when she realises the girls have rumbled her twisted plan.
"She's brazen and never had any trouble in jail before, but this really shakes her.
"There is no way of escaping the angry mob and she takes the beating of a lifetime. It's touch-and-go whether she survives."
The storyline means more heartache for Tracy's onscreen mum Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) - who has just lost mother Blanche (Maggie Jones).
Heartache
And it has further ramifications, as Gail's son Nick squares up to Tracy's step-brother Peter over her vile actions.
A source said: "Tracy might be in jail, but she's still a massive character on the Street. It will really shake things up for the Barlows and the Platts."

mm. dont really know how shes going to get out of jail. Gail isnt going to go down for something she didnt do. But somehow Tracey is going to be released. Its a mystery.
Kate Ford makes her much-anticipated return to Coronation Street next month as murderous Tracy Barlow.
Currently serving time at Her Majesty's pleasure for killing her then-boyfriend Charlie Stubbs with an ornament, Tracy learns of her grandmother Blanche's death and begs the prison governor to grant her day release for the funeral.
Persuasive as ever, Tracy's granted permission to attend but the sight of Becky with Steve and daughter Amy tips her over the edge - and as a catfight ensues, Tracy's dragged back behind bars.
Having learned of Becky and Steve's plans to adopt, Tracy's mind is kicked into overdrive as she begins plotting ways in which to scupper their chances. On hearing that her once-neighbour Gail Platt is being held in custody pending her trial, a devilish plot quickly forms in Tracy's mind.
Settling on her most outrageous plan to date, Tracy turns to the police and makes them an offer that they can't refuse - she'll do everything she can to help convict Gail in return for an early release from prison.
Before long, Gail finds herself with a new friend and confidante when Tracy becomes her cellmate.
Little does Gail know, though, that Tracy's working against her in a bid to secure her own freedom.
Kate Ford has claimed that Tracy Barlow will be "worse and nastier" than ever before on her upcoming return to Coronation Street.
Tracy, who is currently imprisoned for the murder of boyfriend Charlie Stubbs, will make her comeback to the show after being freed for a day in order to attend the funeral of her grandmother Blanche Hunt.
Once back behind bars, she agrees a deal with authorities to attain early release in exchange for helping to convict fellow jailbird Gail McIntyre - who is awaiting trial for murdering her husband Joe.
Ford, who will be making her first appearance on the soap in three years, told PA of her alter ego: "She's got worse, nastier, if that's possible. If you're surrounded with people who are similar to you, you have to toughen up and Tracy's not really a tough person.
"She's manipulative and a bit messed up but not a fighter. It's made her a bit more cagey and bitter."
Coronation Street star Kate Ford has admitted that she lost confidence in her acting abilities during her break from television.
The 33-year-old put her TV career on hold in 2008 in order to concentrate on motherhood. She and husband Jon Connerty welcomed the arrival of their first child Otis in June of that year.
In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, Ford confessed that she was "absolutely terrified" when she ended her break last year to film an episode of BBC drama Missing. She has since signed up for a comeback as Weatherfield superbitch Tracy Barlow and beaten her nerves.
Ford explained: "When you've been at home with a baby, you lose your confidence a bit. Now I'm very excited to be back. I know everybody at Coronation Street - it was so familiar. That made it a lot easier."
She continued: "To be honest, I just love Coronation Street. I've watched it as a fan and I've thought, 'It's really good. People are good in this show'.
"I'm honoured to be part of that show. I grew up in Manchester, so it's always been in my life. I wrote my first letter to ITV when I was about 12, asking to be in Coronation Street. I wrote about ten letters to the casting director when I was a teenager. I can't actually believe I got to be in it."
Last month, it was revealed that Tracy has a dramatic plotline ahead as she is to become embroiled in former neighbour Gail McIntyre's (Helen Worth) prison nightmare.
I'm not looking forward to Tracy being back at all. It would help if she was coming back with a decent storyline.
I'm not looking forward to Tracy being back at all. It would help if she was coming back with a decent storyline.
I agree with you there. The purported storyline they have come up with is total crap. Convicted Murderer gets released because she commits perjury to convict an innocent woman who later fails to get convicted but the lying murderer is allowed to remain free because ???????????????????
:rotfl: I like your summary of the storyline. Somehow, I don't think the Corrie producers would have gone for it if it had been pitched that way.

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has admitted that she wants twisted Tracy Barlow to enjoy happier moments in the future.
The actress's jailed character has turbulent times ahead as she will soon be forced to deal with the loss of grandmother Blanche Hunt - before later launching a plot to win her freedom.
As revealed last month, Tracy is to make an attempt to frame Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth) for murder after being offered an early release deal in exchange for extracting a confession from her former neighbour. The pair end up sharing a prison cell together for the arrangement to go ahead.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Ford explained: "The thing that's quite sad is that Gail thinks she's quite nice - and I think Tracy does feel really bad. But not that bad that she can't do it!
"I think it would be nice if Tracy could find some sort of happiness, even for a short time. I think there is a side to her that's quite kind. And she loves her daughter. So she's not all bad."
However, Ford added that she is enjoying being part of the soap's more dramatic moments for the time being, confirming: "I absolutely love the storyline with Gail."

Even if she got a real confession that led to a conviction they still wouldn't let her out this soon. That's just not how it works.
There might be another twist to it, I hope so anyway
Even if she got a real confession that led to a conviction they still wouldn't let her out this soon. That's just not how it works.
You dont have to tell me mate. I think this storyline is ludicrous and I do know how the Criminal Justice system works having spent over 20 yrs of my life in it. Even if Tracyluv was an accomplice to a murder she wouldnt get her sentence reduced for grassing up someone else after already being sentenced. As it is the only evidence Tracyluv could give would be heresay and as such inadmissible in a real court. However as Galeforce didnt actually murder whatshisname then obviously Traceyluv is telling porkies and should therefore be done for Perjury. I know the Criminal Justice system is different in the East End of Walford where the Mitchell Bruvvas have the Old Bill, the CPS and ald the Judges in their pocket. I really expected better of Corrie but then when the producers favourite Kate Board is involved Im not at all surprised.
Kate Ford has revealed that she will not allow her young son to watch her Coronation Street return.
The actress will be back on screen as twisted Tracy Barlow next month after finalising a Weatherfield comeback deal at the beginning of the year.
Ford was last seen in the role of Tracy in 2007. Since then, she and husband Jon Connerty have welcomed the arrival of their first child Otis, who turns 2 in June.
Speaking to New magazine, the star explained: "When Jon's away and we Skype each other, Otis gets quite distressed afterwards and looks behind the computer.
"So [watching Tracy] might be confusing for him, especially if I'm screaming and shouting. That would be really disturbing, wouldn't it?"
Ford also played down the nerves she suffered as she prepared to make her return, commenting: "It's nothing new for me to be a nervous wreck, it really isn't. It's just varying degrees! I'm very excited to be back."

Its all a load of rubbish, i dont get how their managing to get away with it
I agree with you 100%.
Lets hope the spoilers are wrong and the scriptwriters come up with a PLAUSIBLE reason for Tracyluvs premature release from The Big House
Kate Ford has revealed that she decided to go back to Coronation Street in order to reunite with co-star Shobna Gulati.
The 32-year-old actress, who plays the murderous Tracy Barlow, said that working with her former best friend had been a big influence on her decision to return.
Gulati - who played Dev Alahan's wife Sunita until 2006 - also reprised her role in the serial last year.
Ford told TV Times: "Part of the pull of my going back was to be with Shobna. She used to pop in to see me when she was in London with her son, but we hadn't seen each other for a while."
She added: "Because I was there for so long and formed such strong bonds, it's like being reunited with good friends - you don't see them for a while but when you meet them again you just slip back into it."
Kate Ford has revealed that motherhood has helped her to feel a new affinity with her Coronation Street character Tracy Barlow.
The actress, who signed up for a Weatherfield comeback earlier this year, welcomed the arrival of her first child Otis in June 2008.
Ford's jailed alter-ego is granted day release from prison next month for the funeral of her grandmother Blanche. Her young daughter Amy also attends the event.
Speaking to All About Soap about parenthood, Ford explained: "It gives me a new empathy with [Tracy]. It doesn't change how I act in front of the camera, but it does alter how I feel inside.
"Filming the scenes where Tracy sees Amy at Blanche's funeral were really sad, especially when Amy tells Tracy the things that were familiar between them aren't the same now - I could connect to that."
Ford added: "She's handcuffed to a guard and is ashamed when she sees Amy. No child should have to see their mum in handcuffs."
The star recently said that she will not let her son watch her Coronation Street scenes.
So tonight we saw the start of Corries worst storyline to date. Traveyluv gets moved into Gale Forces cell. A convicted murderer sharing a cell with a remand prisoner who just happens to live in the same street. Stange that Traceyluv arrived with her two arms the one length. She brought NO posessions from her cell to Gails Cell. No clothes, no toothbrush, nothing. She didnt even bring a picture of Samey. The CRAP doesnt stop there. If the spoilers are to be believed then Traceyluv will give hearsay evidence against an innocent woman in an effort to get released from jail. What a huge pile of DUNG. Obviously the so called scriptwriters are living in cloud cuckoo land or else they have overdosed on the skinny lattes and the caffeine has pickled their tiny minds. Corrie was alway a realistic soap. However if it goes down this path I fear it will lose credibility and certainly I will lose interest in it.
Even worse, Tracy went from talking to her solicitor to sharing a cell with Gail in a couple of hours (if you go by the timelines of the other Corrie storylines). She would have had to convince the governor and the police about her plan in this time. Ridiculous. I agree with you, Alan, that this storyline is putting me off Corrie at the moment.

This storyline is absolute garbage. It could be the worst ever in the history of soaps - and that's saying something. Is there a prize at the annual soap awards for the worst story? Perhaps that's what they are going after.
It wouldn't surprise me if this storyline wasn't thought up by DS Carter to deflect attention away from The Adventures of Sun Hill CID (formerly known as The Bill).

Whell what a load of CRAP that was. This has to be the worst storyline in the history of soap. Its on a par with The cardboard funfair, the Return of Den and Kidneygate. It really is sh!te. Tracyluv was not even a decent actress when she left the cobbles. Im sure she hasnt improved.WTF is the point of ruining a good programme to bring a useless character back.

The producer/writers need to changed again, because this storyline is just stuipd. Tracey frames Gail for murder, why are they treating there viewers like idiots.

The lad has to be held back as he tries to launch a brick through the Barlows’ front window moments after discovering Gail (Helen Worth, 59) looks set to be jailed for a crime she did not commit.
Fans have seen Tracy (Kate Ford, 32) agree to get a “confession” from Gail in return for moving to an open prison so she can see more of her daughter.

I know its a soap , well can corrie be called a soap in the sense of Eastenders Emmerdale River City , its more a comic half hour. Done for the cold blooded murder of her boyfriend and jailed for 20 odd years, 2 years down the line they will move her to an open prison for getting the goods on Gail. Ripped apart in court , at the funeral the prison warders would have kept her well back from everyone , but no she DRAGS them to get at Becky , get real. Now as the story goes she is out for the 50th year show(s) that means Gail is found gulity, if not that means the court felt that she was lying to get moved to an open prison and would be sent back to prison. So Gail says NOT GUILTY and sent down awaiting trial , pleads the same I take it at trial but along comes Tracey and tells the court of yes she told me she did it.. I give up.
In the last 25 years or so , you'd be lucky if anyone has escaped from an non open Prison , but Tony Gordon will ...
But it is make-believe, ok, not too realistic this storyline but I think the scriptwriters do exaggerate certain bits to make it drama tv, not a documentary
Coronation Street star Helen Worth has revealed that she was keen to see Gail McIntyre escape a prison sentence when she filmed the character's trial scenes.
Next week, the actress's alter ego will take the stand in court in a bid to defend herself against accusations that she killed husband Joe. As viewers already know, Gail is not guilty of the charge.
Speaking to All About Soap about the tension-filled episodes, Worth confirmed that she wanted "justice to prevail" for the sake of her character.
She continued: "But we've filmed two different outcomes of the trial, just to keep the audience guessing. I hope viewers will be on the edge of their seats until the foreman of the jury stands up to deliver Gail's fate!"
Asked how Gail would cope with a long stint behind bars, Worth replied: "It would crush her at first, but she's such a strong character that I'm sure she would adjust in time.
"Whatever happens, though, there's plenty more drama in store for the Platt family - whether Gail's in prison or not. Don't expect a happy ending just yet."
Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd has hinted that his on-screen mother Gail will escape prison.
Speaking to TV Times, the 22-year-old actor - who plays the rebellious David Platt in the soap - said that his alter ego is perhaps rightly optimistic about the outcome of this week's trial.
He said: "It doesn't enter his mind for a minute that Gail's going down. Nick and Audrey are umming and aahing, but David's pretty positive and is like, 'This is going to be alright'.
Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh has admitted that she was made up to discover she was involved in the factory siege storyline.
The 40-year-old's character Hayley Cropper finds herself being held at gunpoint in Underworld during Tuesday evening's instalment, having been lured there by Tony Gordon's accomplice Robbie Sloan (James Fleet).
Seeing her boss Carla Connor (Alison King) bound and gagged to her desk chair, Hayley realises that something's amiss, but starts to panic when Robbie holds the barrel of a gun to her head.
Hayley and Carla's night soon takes a turn for the worse when Tony (Gray O'Brien) turns up at the factory, hell-bent on revenge.
Speaking of her involvement with the storyline, Hesmondhalgh told DS: "I was very excited to be involved in some kind of action drama because that's not my normal place in the show - I'm usually behind a knicker machine or serving butties - so yeah, it was great! I was excited about it but also a little apprehensive because it sounded like a big story, which means long hours, which means being tired... and we're all basically really, really lazy!
Teasing her character's fate, she added: "[Hayley] doesn't make it to the end, that's all I'll say. Whether that's because she escapes, is rescued or is murdered by one of the many psychopaths who are running around Weatherfield at this particular time... I can't reveal - but yes, she's not there to the bitter end."
CORRIE villain Gray O'Brien will rake in megabucks playing another baddie - when he pockets £180,000 from panto.
Gray, 41, who exits as Tony Gordon this week, will play nasty Abanazar in a Christmas production of Aladdin.
Britain's Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern will play the title role at Nottingham's Theatre Royal. A source said: "Gray loves panto. It's a chance to connect with the audience."

^ Alan what has these spoilers to do with Tracey and Gail - I think you posted in the wrong thread :p
I am tired of this Gail and Tracey storyline already
Is the Tracey storyline over then? I'm glad our worst fears weren't confirmed and Tracey wasn't released early for testifying against Gail.
As she is being released early from prison in a couple of months time, the story is only just starting :(

Oh no! :crying:
I was hoping we'd seen the last of Tracey.

I wonder what feeble and incredibly unbelievable storyline they will come up with to justify releasing not only a murderer but a perjurer as well

That's why I thought the Tracey storyline must be over. What reason could there possibly be for releasing her? The only thing I can think of is that the other prisoners attack her for being a grass, but surely they'd just put her in solitary if that was the problem.
Not content with trying to ruin Becky McDonald's life, Tracy Barlow is also set to cause hell for Gail McIntyre
Twisted Tracy, played by Kate Ford, manages to get out of jail this Christmas, following a botched attempt earlier this year to win freedom in return for stitching up Gail (Helen Worth).
According to the Daily Star, she will strut back onto the cobbles determined to get revenge on the widow - starting by stealing her job.
A show insider told the paper: "Tracy hears that Gail has gone for a job at Underworld so she decides to get in first.
"She gets the job, leaving Gail out in the cold.
"And there are plenty more sneaky tricks up her sleeve. Tracy is a ball of rage and Gail will get the brunt of it. She'll need eyes in the back of her head or she won't survive."
