2771: Gilly proposes to Jem
Airs on Monday, March 8 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Josh panics about his upcoming court appearance and can't help but fear the possibility of prison. Rhys attempts to cheer his brother up but Neville's arrival halts all joviality. Neville's insistence that Josh stay on the other side of the bar until his drink driving charge is resolved sends Josh into a fury. It's only the timely arrival of Gilly's return from Thailand that calms the warring family.

Surprised that Gilly's back from his travels, the Ashworths are eager to know why he's returned so soon. However, they insist that the gossip will come later - his first priority is to support Josh through his court appearance. Josh flounders when Gilly suggests that he should change his plea to not guilty - and it's clear that his words are having a profound effect. Talking to Rhys later, Gilly expresses his concerns about Josh. By Rhys's reaction and slight hesitation, though, Gilly senses that all's not what it seems.

Gilly's blown away by an excited Steph's appearance when she arrives at The Dog with Cheryl. However, her dreams are shattered when Gilly declares his love for Jem and asks her to marry him. Devastated by his public declaration, Steph flees with her world crumbling around her…

Meanwhile, Cheryl tries to keep Steph occupied but her over-exuberance results in a smoothie disaster just as Gilly arrives. Finding herself covered in bits of fruit, Steph's embarrassed by her appearance as she tentatively catches up with Gilly who's just returned from his travels.

With her emotions running high, Steph cautiously asks about Gilly's time in Barcelona. Insisting that he should get on with unpacking, Gilly suggests catching up later in The Dog and a buoyed Steph's heart soars at the prospect.

Turning up at Evissa to prepare for her 'date' with Gilly, Steph's hit by a wave of guilt about having fun while Holly's still missing. Frankie allays her fears and intuitively guesses that there's a man involved, before sitting her down and working her magic.

Later, Cheryl's back is immediately up when Jem arrives at the salon and mistakes her for staff. As the banter becomes personal, Jem makes a sharp exit, leaving a fuming Cheryl wondering who exactly she is…

Elsewhere, Dave and Charlotte's walk to the pub is interrupted by a wannabe mugger but a mystery girl saves the day, leaving them both awestruck.

In the SU, talk soon turns to the heroin of the hour, with both Dave and Charlotte fancying their chances with her. They're distracted, though, by an advert for a Student Warden and a debate soon ensues. It's up to India to decide who would be the best candidate for the role.

When talk turns to Josh and his court case, the friends find the subject difficult to deal with and wonder why he just can't admit what he did and face his responsibilities. Dave's attention, however, is diverted when the mystery girl arrives. Introducing himself, Josh is soon on the charm offensive and fills Jem in on Hollyoaks' lift. Suggesting that they potentially hook up, Jem evades the question when she notices Charlotte's interest in them.

Thinking that she's Dave's girlfriend, Josh is quick to mention that Charlotte's gay and as Jem leaves, India's thrilled to point out that Jem and Charlotte appear to be hitting it off. Competitive as ever, talk returns to the Student Warden position and India declares that she's put both their names down. Unsure whether to apply, the decision is made for them after hearing about the perks of the job…

2772: Josh decides to plead 'guilty'
Airs on Tuesday, March 9 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Rhys is worried about Josh's court case as he's wracked with guilt over the trouble he's caused. To make matters worse, Josh tells Rhys that he's decided to change his plea to 'guilty'. Rhys realises that Josh's change of heart could result in a longer stint in prison and begs him to stand by his original 'not guilty' plea. Josh mistakes Rhys's concern for doubt and fearing that he's now lost the support of his brother, leaves the house.

Later, when Gilly finds a downbeat Josh, he encourages him to be strong, promising him he has faith in him. Buoyed by Gilly's support, Josh realises what he needs to do and heads home. Back at the Ashworths', Rhys is surprised when he finds Josh packing a bag and immediately thinks that he's doing a bunk.

A calm Josh tells Rhys that he's decided to plead 'guilty' and is preparing for what he believes to be an inevitable custodial sentence.

Meanwhile, Steph's down in the dumps after her disastrous 'date' with Gilly. At MOBs, she unsuccessfully tries to hide from Jem. Surprised when Jem asks her for a drink, Steph struggles for an excuse, while Cheryl jumps in and takes up the offer instead. Cheryl's completely over the top with Jem but her friendly facade doesn't wash and when Steph turns up, Jem confides in her that she suspects Cheryl still loves Gilly.

Jem persuades a guilty Steph to meet her alone but as Steph awaits her arrival, Darren arrives and immediately susses Steph's man trouble. Darren's later amused when Steph reluctantly admits that she's in love with Gilly. He tells her that if it's what she wants, then she has to fight for it, knowing only too well how she feels. With that, Steph concocts a plan to get her man. Resolute on winning Gilly around, Steph tells Jem that Cheryl loves Gilly and that she wants him back.

Meanwhile, things are looking up for Ste and Amy, especially as Amy's made substantial progress with Leah and Lucas. After successfully settling the pair for a nap, Amy tells Ste that she'll make his favourite dinner.

As Amy leaves for work, Ste tidies the house and cleans himself up in a bid to further impress Amy. At Evissa, Amy confides in Michaela about how well things are going with Ste. A wary Michaela warns her not to get back together with him but Amy insists that they're simply good friends - and she's even thinking of moving on. Michaela's thrilled and immediately organises a night out in the hope of finding her a new man.

Back at home, Amy decides to break the news to Ste that she plans to start dating other people but he doesn't take it as well as she'd hoped and storms out. Later, as Michaela and Amy prepare for their night on the tiles, a much calmer Ste returns home.

Amy's cautious of Ste's mood but is grateful when he tells her that she looks nice. The pair share a smile and it's clear that all is forgiven.

Elsewhere, Dave and Charlotte are at loggerheads as they fill in their applications for the same job. India arrives late as she was hoping to meet Rhys but was rumbled by Darren. India quickly becomes fed up of Charlotte and Dave's childish behaviour and reminds them about Josh's impending court case.

They apologise to India for being insensitive but as soon as she leaves, Dave and Charlotte continue to argue.

2773: Josh appears in court
Airs on Wednesday, March 10 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

The Ashworths are anxious as Josh prepares to appear in court for drink driving - but there's nobody more anxious than Rhys who's about to let his brother take the rap for the car crash when he knows that he was to blame. Rhys battles with his conscience as the hearing draws near but will he come clean?

Hurt by his dad's lack of support, Josh goes to see India but he's gutted when she's not in. Dave's also cagey with him. India's traumatised by the memories of the car crash but turns up in court after a visit from Rhys. Josh's spirits are lifted when he sees her, assuming she's there to support him. He's unaware, though, that Rhys is the real reason that she's put in an appearance.

As the verdict's read out, Rhys breathes a huge sigh of relief as Josh avoids a custodial sentence. On a high after the verdict, a hopeful Josh goes to see India but he's brought down to earth with a bang when he realises that he's lost her and his friends.

Meanwhile, Steph's determined to win Gilly back. Despite the fact that she's made a pact with Cheryl to help her get close to him, Steph's slightly suspicious of her motives. Cheryl genuinely wants to help but she can't help swooning when Gilly arrives to thank them for making Jem feel so welcome.

Both girls are downbeat, though, when they realise that he has no interest in either of them. Steph sees an opportunity to rid herself of any potential threat from Cheryl and plants doubts in Jem's mind about Cheryl's intentions, purposely letting slip that she's with Gilly in The Dog.

Jem makes a point of warning Cheryl off but it soon becomes clear to Cheryl what Steph's done. With that, Cheryl declares war with Steph in a bid to win Gilly's affections.

Elsewhere, Michaela encourages Amy to get back on the dating scene but seeing her friend so despondent about the idea, she lies and tells her that she's already set her up on a blind date with someone who really fancies her.

Zak's left with the impossible task of finding someone when Michaela threatens to withdraw any sexual favours until he does. Amy and Michaela turn up at the SU Bar for their double date and are shocked to discover Amy's date for the night - Archie!

Archie's just as shocked as Amy but is persuaded to stay with the offer of cash. Archie turns on his charm and Amy can't help falling for it as Zak and Michaela watch on, gobsmacked to see them getting on so well. Amy's left humiliated, though, when she discovers that Zak paid Archie to attend…

2774: Josh decides to move out
Airs on Thursday, March 11 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Despite having escaped a custodial sentence, Josh is still downbeat. Rhys tries to make him see the positives, telling him he's free to move on but for Josh it's not enough as people still believe he's guilty. Feeling responsible, Rhys offers to take him to his alcohol awareness meeting. Before they can leave, though, the brothers are stopped by India and Meriel, a reporter from the Chester Herald.

Blanking Josh, India tells Rhys that the newspaper wants to do an interview with Rhys as he's a local hero. Suzanne quickly points out that Josh is their son, too, but Neville intervenes, insisting that Rhys should receive the recognition he deserves. It's all too much for Josh to bear and he hastily leaves for his meeting alone.

Encouraged by India, a reluctant Rhys answers Meriel's questions but as talk turns to how big the story could be, Rhys's ego is given a boost and he begins to enjoy his new-found hero status.

Josh stumbles home to find the cosy set up and clearly inebriated, he starts mouthing off. Rhys later finds Josh drinking alone and feeling worse than ever, he offers his brother some advice in the hope that he'll finally be able to get his life back on track.

When Josh returns home again, Suzanne's gutted to see he's drunk again but Neville's simply embarrassed by his youngest son. It's all too much for Josh and he lets rip at his parents. Unable to cope with being the family disappointment, Josh reveals that he's moving out.

Meanwhile, Steph continues with her plan to win Gilly around in the hope that he'll finally choose her over Jem and Cheryl. While leaving him a voicemail, Steph's interrupted by Cheryl who knows exactly what her love nemesis is up to. Steph smugly tells Cheryl that Gilly's offered to help her at the council hall but is left red-faced when a smug Cheryl catches her out, revealing that Gilly's working with her in The Dog.

Jem's perturbed when Gilly tells her he's working with Cheryl all day and she hastily offers to work the shift for him. Steph's made up that Gilly's spending the day helping her and goes all out to win him over. She casually gives him her raffle prize - a signed Man City shirt - knowing how much it'll mean to him and the pair enjoy their flirty banter.

Back at The Dog, the atmosphere's unbearable between Jem and Cheryl. Fed up, Cheryl finally breaks and persuades Jem to go for a drink to clear the air. The flirting continues with Steph and Gilly at MOBs - until Cheryl and Jem turn up. Steph's gutted and watches on in horror as Gilly hands over his prize shirt to Jem.

After her fake date with Archie, Sasha and Michaela visit Amy in an attempt to cheer her up. They're pleased when Amy informs them that her doctor's taking her off the anti-depressants but it's evident that Amy's unsure about the move. With that, the girls decide that there's only one thing for it - a party!

With Sasha's attack still on her mind, the girls settle on drinks at Amy's but there's no compromising on the glamour as they start getting ready. Nosey as ever, Michaela spots an unopened airmail letter from Mike. Taking a sneaky peak inside, Michaela's gobsmacked by its contents.

As the party gets going, Amy struggles to muster much enthusiasm. However, about to burst with excitement, Michaela insists that Amy open her letter from her dad. Amy's problems and troubles quickly vanish as she pulls out a cheque for £2,000….

Elsewhere, Dave's triumphant when he wins the warden job over Charlotte.

2775: The girls celebrate Sasha's birthday
Airs on Friday, March 12 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Worried about the letter she sent to Gilly while he was away, Steph confides in Darren. With that, Darren takes it upon himself to find out if he ever received it. Darren heads over to the council hall where Jem and Gilly are helping with the 'Find Holly' campaign. He's distracted, though, when he spots Cindy so distraught and desperately wants to comfort her.

Cindy's concerned that Holly's become yesterday's news, especially with Rhys's face plastered all over the paper - overshadowing the fact that Holly's still missing. With that, Darren snaps when he sees how insensitive Rhys is being.

Steph's relieved to hear that Gilly never received her letter but she can't help feeling jealous of the obvious bond between Jem and Tom. Seeing Cindy looking so sad without Holly, Tom gives her a Mother's Day card. Cindy's touched but when she starts crying, a jealous Steph blames Jem for encouraging Tom to be so insensitive.

Steph's gutted, however, when a furious Gilly defends Jem and accuses Steph of being too wrapped up in herself.

Meanwhile, Rhys feels bad about the 'Hollyoaks' Hero' article in the press but soon gets carried away by India's flattery and starts enjoying every moment of his fame. As Rhys and India laugh about his new-found hero status, Darren has a go at him for being so insensitive.

Feeling guilty, Rhys phones the paper asking for more coverage about Holly but they're not prepared to do any more. India's worried that she's messed things up with Rhys but is glad when he texts to say sorry.

Amy books a holiday with the girls, while Ste excitedly plans how he and Amy can spend Mike's money. Ste's also looking forward to some time away when Amy hints that she's thinking of going on a holiday. However, she can't muster up the courage to let him know that he's not invited.

Sasha's birthday doesn't get off to a good start but her spirits are lifted by the news that Amy's booked them all a holiday. They're thrilled but Michaela's less than impressed when she realises that the children will be joining them.

After spending the night on the McQueens' sofa, Josh finds himself homeless. Amy feels sorry for him and invites him to stay in her room while she's away. It's the first that Ste's heard about the girls-only holiday and he's fuming. The girls party for Sasha's birthday and prepare for their holiday, while an awkward Josh moves in.

Elsewhere, Charlotte's gutted that Dave landed the warden job over her and makes life difficult for him by advertising his services 24/7. Dave's curious as to how people have his number when he receives call after call. Charlotte, meanwhile, secretly revels in the pressure he's under.

By the end of his first day, Dave's had enough and quits.

I hope Gilly and Steph get together soon
