When Simon overhears George’s plans for him he makes a bid for freedom. With the 6 year old on the run the Barlows head to Blackpool as a frantic police search begins.

When a couple come forward to the police claiming they witnessed Joe and Gail’s last row, they wonder whether they’ve just found the final piece of the jigsaw.

John lies to Fiz as he heads out for an interview for the teaching job. But will his past come back to haunt him?

A major police search is underway in Blackpool as Peter desperately looks for Simon. But will he find his son before the night sets in?

When the police reveal they have witnesses who saw Gail arguing with Joe on board the boat Gail is forced to defend herself yet again.

Nick surprises Carla with a tempting business offer.

Coronation Street's Peter Barlow is arrested in a fortnight's time as he attempts to retrieve his son Simon from the care of grandparents George and Eve Wilson.

Having agreed to pick Simon up from school, Peter's furious to discover that George has picked him up early. Back on the Street, George turns up on Peter's doorstep and reveals that he's retaining custody of Simon for the foreseeable future until Peter's in a fit state to look after him.

Livid at George's actions, Peter races to the house and sees that Eve has locked herself in the car with Simon. Peter calls the police and while he argues with George, Simon emerges from the car. George tries to stop Peter getting to his son and a scuffle between the pair breaks out.

The police arrive just in time to stop the argument escalating further but in a blind rage, Peter lashes out at one of the policemen, prompting them to arrest him in front of Simon.



These scenes air on Monday, March 8 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV1.

Gail turns to Tina for help with Joe's funeral

When Peter arrives at George and Eve's house to take Simon to school, he's furious to hear that Eve's already gone with him. Peter insists he'll collect him from the school gate later that afternoon but when he turns up and realises that George already has him, Peter's had enough and demands to know what he's playing at.

Calling at Peter's flat without Simon, George states that he's keeping hold of Simon until he deems Peter fit enough to look after him. How will Peter react?

Meanwhile, speculation's rife about Gail's visit to the police station. Tina's confused by the recent turn of events but she's pacified when David insists they're just covering all angles.

Nick's also back on the Street, having received Gail's pleas for support. Nick's worried about his mother's story but when the police call to inform them Joe's body is to be released, it looks like Gail may be in the clear. A relieved Gail turns to Tina for help as the two grieving women plan Joe's funeral.

Elsewhere, Carla's amused when Trevor finally realises that she's Underworld's boss - not the cleaner! - and agrees to a drink with him. She's less than impressed, though, when Nick turns up asking her to reconsider his offer to buy into the business.

Also, when John helps Chesney with his homework, he realises just how much he misses teaching.



Peter's arrested after a scuffle with George

As Peter races to the Wilsons', he refuses to believe George's claims that Simon's out with Eve and breaks a window in a bid to locate his son. When Leanne and Ken catch up with them, George is ordering Peter to leave but incandescent with rage, Peter calls the police.

As they wait, Eve returns home with Simon but when George tries to stop Peter from getting to him, a scuffle ensues. Simon's confused as he watches the police intervene and arrest Peter. Will Peter ever get his son back?

Meanwhile, the Platts are uneasy when the return to the Street asking questions about Joe and Gail's tempestuous relationship. As they continue to build their case, Gail begins to fear that her nightmare will never end.

Elsewhere, when Kelly flirts with Nick he spies an opportunity. Turning on the charm he tells her he's considering buying a share of the factory and can see potential in her. Suitably charmed she agrees to a night out.

And John secretly applies for a job teaching evening classes.



George takes temporary custody of Simon

Peter's eventually released from police custody, having spent the night in the cells. George, meanwhile, wants to raise Simon's spirits and suggests a trip to Blackpool. Back on the Street, Peter and Leanne also have plans for Simon but when they discover that George called the school claiming that Simon's ill, they start to worry.

Peter's worst fears are soon confirmed when he's then served with court papers, which reveal that George has been awarded temporary custody of Simon while he applies for a permanent residence order.

In Blackpool, though, George tells a stunned Eve that he has no intention of returning to the Street.

Meanwhile, Nick's spent the night with Kelly and turning on the charm, he asks if she can acquire Underworld's accounts for him. Kelly refuses but Carla gives her a public dressing down when she broadcasts all about her night with Nick and his plans for the factory. Will Kelly have a change of heart?

Tina battles with her emotions after visiting her father's body at the chapel of rest with Gail. When Tina then returns to the Street, though, she sees Jason telling the police about Joe's money problems and it all becomes too much. With that, she lets rip at Jason.

Elsewhere, Janice is full of excitement when Trevor asks Janice to recommend a posh restaurant - she's sure that he's about to ask her out on a date.



Simon runs off in Blackpool

Eve's not happy that George has made such a big decision as to permanently take Simon away without consulting her and as they row about the need to keep Simon away from Peter, Simon overhears. Scared and confused about what's happening, Simon runs off when George isn't looking.

Back on the Street Leanne's doing her best to help Peter fight the urge to hit the bottle and when the Wilsons realise that Simon's missing, Eve secretly calls Peter to let him know what's happened. As Peter races to Blackpool, a frantic search for the six-year-old soon begins.

Meanwhile, Gail's emotionally drained after her visit to the chapel of rest. When Audrey suggests that Gail should visit Sarah in Milan after the funeral, Gail agrees that a break is probably what she needs.

Unbeknown to Gail, though, the police are still suspicious about her and when a couple come forward claiming they witnessed Joe and Gail's final row, the detectives wonder whether they've just found the final piece of the jigsaw.

John lies to Fiz as he heads out for an interview for the teaching job. When questioned about the gap on his CV, John lies that he's been travelling - but will his past come back to haunt him?

And as Carla sets off on her date with Trevor, Kelly searches the Underworld office for the accounts.



The search for Simon continues

As the police search for Simon begins in Blackpool, a frantic Peter and Leanne arrive. George is shame-faced by what's happened but Peter manages to control his anger as he's much more concerned about finding his son.

The search for Simon mounts and everyone begins to panic when they hear that there have been no reported sightings. The police issue flyers featuring Simon's photograph, while a desperate Peter, George and Ken scour the streets as night falls.

Meanwhile, as the police interview their new Lake District witnesses, they're surprised to hear more details about Gail and Joe's final argument aboard the boat.

Armed with the latest information, Glynn and Carr return to the street to question Gail, who insists that she disembarked the boat before Joe sailed away alone. It's clear, though, that their suspicions are growing - as are Tina's.

Gail tries to defend herself but Tina's had enough of Gail's lies and orders her to stay away from Joe's funeral.

As Carla enjoys her date with Trevor, Kelly lets Nick into the factory to go through the Underworld accounts. Armed with the figures he needs, Nick heads to The Rovers where he surprises Carla with a tempting business offer. Carla agrees to give it some thought.

Elsewhere, John confides in Fiz about his job interview. But how will she react when she discovers that he didn't declare his criminal record and was offered the job?


Looks like Kelly's exit is being prepared
