ANGRY detectives have slammed EastEnders over the portrayal of the police in its "Who killed Archie Mitchell?" storyline.
Fans saw cops on the soap chat to locals about the case, take bribes and even chase murder suspect Bradley Branning on to a roof before he fell.

Det Insp Alan Kalbfell, of the City of London Police, said the scenes could make the public see them as "unprofessional".

He said: "Viewers will think this is how detectives operate. This is damaging to our profession."

Seventeen million saw Stacey Branning - played by Lacey Turner, 21 - confess to killing Archie in last Friday's live show.

An EastEnders spokeswoman said the soap had a police consultant. But she added: "It might not always represent real life."

I cant really say I blame the police. The way Police Officers are portrayed in soaps especially Eastenders is terrible. EE glorifies crime and shows that it is acceptable. If I was the police consultant on EE I would be looking for a proper job. EE scriptwriters are more interested in sensationalist storylines and to hell with accuracy

I totally agree with you Alan, but at the same time wonder why the police are taking it so seriously. Surely no one is so stupid as the think EE is anything like real life?

I dunno. There are plenty of people out there who do. Look at the number of Shannis Threads there were and the number of members with I love Denis Rickman as their user names. True the people on here are not as bad as the EE obsessed tweenies on DS though.

Ha ha, very true. That's why I love this forum - the people here love soaps but are pretty sane at the same time :D

I've tried going on DS and found it unbearable.
