Fortnightly soap magazine All About Soap has announced the nominations for its ninth annual Bubble Awards.
The awards celebrate the lighter side of soap and showcase noms from the Big Four British serial dramas - as well as both key Australian dramas.
For the second year running, Corrie and EastEnders racked up ten nominations, while Emmerdale and Hollyoaks took six and four respectively.
Aussie shows Neighbours and Home and Away have one nod each across the eight categories.
As exclusively revealed in the Daily Star Sunday, Corrie's Tony Gordon, Walford's Lucas Johnson and Emmerdale's Nathan Wylde stand alongside Chester's Calvin Valentine in the 'Smooth Criminal' stakes. Carla Connor and Janine Butcher are nominated for the 'Femme Fatale' gong.
Christian and Syed's clandestine relationship in Albert Square heads up the 'Fatal Attraction' category with Hollyoaks' Calvin and Mercedes.
The 'Baby Drama' category includes Heather's 'Who's The Daddy?' plot and Susan's surrogacy in Neighbours, and EastEnders' tragic heroine Ronnie Mitchell is pitted against Emmerdale's Laurel Thomas for the 'I'm A Survivor' trophy.
The remaining two categories are 'Bride And Doom' and 'Killer Secret'.
Speaking to DS about the awards, magazine editor Johnathan Hughes said: "We love doing the Bubbles every year because they're a fun look at the last 12 months in soapland. There’s a huge interest in soaps right now, what with EastEnders and Corrie both celebrating landmark anniversaries in 2010."
He added: "The Bubbles are the first soap awards of the year so it will be interesting to see how the voting goes."
Voting opens from Tuesday, February 16. Click here to vote or pick up a copy of the latest issue of All About Soap from Tuesday. Voting closes on Monday, March 1.
