Former EastEnders actor Adam Croasdell has landed a role in hit American drama Supernatural, Digital Spy can reveal.

The 29-year-old, currently best known for his part as Walford's Dr Al Jenkins, is to play Baldur, the Norse god of light on the CW series.

News of Croasdell's casting comes just a few days after his final EastEnders scenes aired on BBC One. He had been out in Los Angeles for only a week when he secured his new part.

Speaking of the role, Croasdell told DS: "It's fantastic being a part of such a popular show and exciting to be in the American arena. I'm looking forward to the challenge."

The soap star had previously confirmed talks for new projects by revealing that he had "a couple of nice things on the boil", but kept tight-lipped over the details at the time.

As well as EastEnders, Croasdell has appeared in The Chase and Holby City. Meanwhile, last November, he revealed that he had taken on the role of James Bond for Activision's latest game.

Supernatural's current fifth season is expected to be its last, though creator Eric Kripke has suggested that there is room for another season if the show is recommissioned.

Former EastEnders star Adam Croasdell has revealed that he would be willing to return to the soap in the future.

The actor bowed out from his role as Dr Al Jenkins last year and was seen on screen in the BBC show for the final time last month.

Croasdell later landed a guest part on hit American drama Supernatural and will soon be seen playing Norse god of light Baldur on the programme.

In an interview with DS, the 29-year-old confirmed that he would make a Walford comeback if producers allowed Al to be more edgy like Supernatural's characters.

Describing an EastEnders return as a "group decision", Croasdell commented: "I guess management have to want it, and I have to want it. I think I would probably come back, sure.

"I would love it if Al had a little bit more to do, and wasn't quite so nice! I think one of the hardest things to do is play the nice guy. It's very hard to make a nice guy interesting.

"The Americans have dealt with that very well, because every nice guy they create has a few anti-heroic qualities to root him in reality. Al needed a bit more of that, a bit more punch. If we rethought him slightly then I would definitely say yes!"
