Producers of Celebrity Big Brother vowed last night to make a new series after this year's show won a dramatic increase in viewers.

Alex Reid's victory was watched by 4.4million - nearly a million more than when Ulrika Jonsson won last year. The production company Endemol need a new home for the show after C4 refused to commission a fresh series.

But Five's controller Richard Woolf confirmed he is interested. Endemol's Charlie Gardener said: "We firmly believe this show has a future."

VANESSA Feltz must be a sucker for punishment - because she's going back on Big Brother.

Vanessa, 48, had a meltdown on the first Celeb BB in 2001 when she scrawled nonsense on the dining table. But the show's bosses are letting her back in to ensure the series "ends with a bang".

She is set to return for the Ultimate Housemate, along with other former BB oddballs desperate to boost their bank balances.

They include Coolio, Preston, Nadia Almada, Brian Dowling, Makosi Musambasi and "Nasty" Nick Bateman, plus other faces from past shows.

The winner of this year's BB will also be chucked in for the final flurry with the last one left named Ultimate Housemate.

A show source said: "We want the final couple of weeks to be memorable TV and also a celebration of some of the show's biggest characters.

"You don't get more memorable than Vanessa Feltz - her on-screen meltdown was TV gold."

Vanessa still calls herself a BB fan despite her ordeal, which saw her crack up after just days in the house.

Eventual winner Jack Dee summed it up when he said: "Vanessa's completely lost it."

After she was evicted Vanessa said: "I think reality TV programmes do a lot of damage.

"Nothing prepares you for scrutiny and incarceration and worrying what people might think of you."

Jenny Frost and Jeff Brazier have landed jobs at OK!TV fronting the Big Brother coverage for the magazine show.

Brazier - who has two children with the late Big Brother star Jade Goody - and ex-Atomic Kitten singer Frost will host regular slots on the teatime Channel 5 series, updating viewers on the latest developments from the Big Brother house.

It is not clear whether the pair will be presenting the whole show instead of Kate Walsh and Matt Johnson, or if it will just be a segment.

"I can't wait to present OK!TV. What a dream job!" Frost told the Daily Star.

Brazier and Frost will begin their stint on Monday, ahead of the Celebrity Big Brother launch on Thursday, August 18.

Brian Dowling and Emma Willis are the news hosts of the revamped Big Brother and spinoff series Bit On The Side.

EastEnders actor Sid Owen is hotly-tipped to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house next week.

Owen, who is currently on a break from the BBC One soap, is expected to join a rumoured lineup of Tara Reid, Pamela Anderson, Amy Childs and Jedward.

Big Fat Gypsy Weddings star Paddy Doherty, Sally Bercow and Steve Strange are also likely to be on the Channel 5 reality series.

Owen's previous reality TV experience includes a stint on I'm A Celebrity, where he finished third behind Carol Thatcher and Sheree Murphy.

The soap actor also famously had a brief pop career when he recorded a cover of Sugar Minott's 'Good Thing Going' in 2000. Despite reaching number 14 in the charts, his recorded follow-up was never released.

Celebrity Big Brother launches on Thursday, August 18 at 9pm on Channel 5.

Channel 5 has put up billboards around the UK with the wrong start date for Celebrity Big Brother.

In preparation for the reality show's launch on the channel next week, the broadcaster has erected posters with the famous Big Brother eye, the slogan "Biggest Brother Ever" and the date Wednesday, August 17.

However, Celebrity Big Brother will actually start on August 18 at 9pm on Channel 5.

It is believed that the error occurred because of a last minute change in the schedules. Channel 5 is rumoured to have switched the launch date to avoid a clash with Channel 4's movie premiere of Twilight.

Celebrity Big Brother will now be up against dramas The Killing, Torchwood and Single-Handed on the terrestrial channels.

Kerry Katona, Bobby Sabel and Sally Bercow are the first housemates to be nominated for eviction from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The Coming Clean star was the first of the trio to be placed on the chopping block after failing her secret task to become Big Brother's biggest ever diva. She was then instructed to nominate the two people who would face the public vote with her.

As her fellow housemates watched Katona receive the bombshell in the Diary Room, the I'm A Celebrity winner dropped her head into her hands and declared: "This is awful. How can I compete as a diva when I'm with John and Edward (Jedward). This is so unfair… I can't do this."

After being pressed for a response by Big Brother, Katona finally named fashion model Sabel, explaining: "Only because I don't really know him and he won't open up to me."

However, she quickly clarified: "He's a really nice person and he's really great looking. I just cant talk to him properly yet."

Katona appeared to be even more challenged by her second nomination, but eventually picked Bercow, citing her as the person she didn't have "anything in common with".

Although Katona then quickly expressed an interest in removing the speaker's wife from the chopping block due to her being a fellow mother, Big Brother decided instead to draw a line under the nomination process and confirmed Bercow as the third potential evictee.

Either Katona, Sabel or Bercow will be evicted from the house next Friday after a public vote.

Host Brian Dowling also revealed that viewers this year will vote for the celebrity that they want to save, instead of phoning in to evict their least favourite celebrity housemate.

Mohamed Al-Fayed will reportedly enter the Celebrity Big Brother house today in order to confront Darryn Lyons over the death of his son Dodi and Princess Diana.

Al-Fayed accuses paparazzi photographers such as Lyons of invading the couple's privacy and playing a part in their fatal car crash in 1997.

The 82-year-old business tycoon told the Daily Star: "I'm going into the Big Brother house to serve up quite a few surprises."

Meanwhile, a source said: "This will be a real shocker, another Fright Night. Darryn may have many celebrity friends in the world but he also has a lot of enemies.

"Let's just say that Al-Fayed knows of him, what he has done and isn't his biggest admirer."

Al-Fayed's appearance will be shown tomorrow at 10pm on Channel 5, while tonight's highlights show airs at 9.15pm.

Marco Pierre White is set to cook up a storm in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
The Hell's Kitchen star will make a cameo appearance on the Channel 5 reality show on Saturday to set the celebrities a task, The Sun reports.
Chef Marco, 49, is apparently a fan of the show and will be expecting the housemates to impress by making some tasty treats in the kitchen.
Former Harrods boss Mohammed Al Fayed made a surprise appearance in the house last weekend to judge an Egyptian themed task and more cameos are expected.
Baywatch star Pamela Anderson - who has already appeared in Australian Big Brother in 2008 and the Indian version of the show Big Boss last year - is rumoured to be visiting the house.
The reality TV show, which was axed by Channel 4 last year, drew in viewing figures of six million on launch night, but these have now settled to an average audience of 2.5 million.

Sally Bercow has become the first person to be evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The Speaker's wife was booted out of the Elstree compound after receiving fewer viewer votes than fellow nominees Bobby Sabel and Kerry Katona.

Upon hearing the news, Bercow nodded knowingly and hugged her fellow housemates.

The crowd had been cheering for Sabel to be evicted after he was shown to have made Darryn Lyons drink sweat in yesterday's show.

Bercow exited the house to the sound of Emeli Sande's 'Heaven' and a mixed reception from the crowd.

She confided in host Brian Dowling that she was "embarrassed" to be Celebrity Big Brother's first evictee and joked that viewers were "bonkers" for sending her home.

Dowling confirmed after Bercow's exit that celebrity chef Marco Pierre White will be entering the house this weekend and teased that another star will be booted next Wednesday in a "secret" eviction.

Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Sally Bercow has revealed that she would love to take part in reality television show Wife Swap.

The 41-year-old Speaker's wife, who was evicted from Celebrity Big Brother on Friday night, said that she would like to take part in the partner-swapping series with former housemate and My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty.

Bercow told the Daily Express that her husband would probably not be quite as keen as her to take part in Wife Swap, saying: "I don't think John would be up for that."

She also admitted that her decision to enter the Celebrity Big Brother house caused "the biggest fight" of her marriage, but insisted that any divorce rumours are "total rubbish".

Bercow explained: "Me and John are solid as a rock. My husband really wasn't in favour and a lot of the establishment weren't. I am sad I wasn't supported by my husband going in, but all's well in the end."

The aspiring politician recently revealed that she was considering an appearance in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, but has now said that the fee for the show is "not comparable" to the charity donations that other programmes offer.

However, Bercow said that she would still consider joining Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing on Ice.

Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff has become the second contestant to be evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The actress was ejected from the Elstree compound after fellow nominee Darryn Lyons received more public votes to save than her.

Bach-Hasselhoff responded to the news by cheering and hugging the other contestants to say farewell.

"I love you all," Bach-Hasselhoff told the rest of the housemates as she exited. Amy Childs said: "We'll miss you. We love you."

The Celebrity Big Brother house was at the centre of a bomb scare on Friday night.

Police were called to Elstree Studios in Borehamwood at around 10pm after a guest, thought to have been an audience member on Big Brother's Bit On The Side, told a barmaid he had a bomb in his bag.

Celebrities involved in the drama included Bit On The Side guest Vanessa Feltz, former housemate Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff and The Only Way Is Essex star Harry Derbidge, the Daily Star Sunday reports.

"Everyone was terrified," a witness said. "For all we knew he was being deadly serious and we could have all died. Moments after the man told staff he had a bomb everyone ran out of the bar. The celebrities in the house had no idea they were just feet away from a very real bomb scare."

The barmaid jammed her arm in the bar's shutters as she tried to secure the area after being told of the threat, shortly after Tara Reid became the third housemate to be evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house.

The barmaid said: "We were all absolutely terrified. He looked at me and said he had a bomb in his bag. I was so scared. I pulled down the shutter and hurt my arm. But my main concern was to get everyone out of the bar to keep people safe."

A Big Brother spokeswoman confirmed: "Police dealt with an incident at Elstree Studios on Friday in which a man was arrested. Police inquiries are currently ongoing."

A 48-year-old man from Croydon, South London, was last night being questioned by police over the incident.

Paddy Doherty wins Celebrity Big Brother

The Gypsy Weddings star was voted the champion ahead of runner-up Kerry Katona.

Doherty left the house to a massively positive reaction from the crowd and Kelly Rowland's 'What a Feeling'.

He told host Brian Dowling: "Thanks very much. God bless every one of you."

On whether he predicted that he would win the series, he replied: "I swear to God. One week, that's all I thought. I didn't think I'd get this far.

"I had no gameplan, I was just myself. I thought Jedward was going to do it. Pair of sausages."

Speaking about how he found life in the house, he said: "I'm not used to mixing in that way. You're like a fish out of water. It surprised me, and I'm very grateful to the public for voting for me."

He named Darryn Lyons as a "proper gentleman" and described Jedward as "a nightmare".

An emotional Doherty was later joined by his "woman", with Dowling declaring that he had done his community "proud".

Model Bobby Sabel was the first evictee of the night, followed by 'Mr Paparazzi' Darryn Lyons, actor Lucien Laviscount, and The Only Way is Essex star Amy Childs.

Irish twins Jedward finished in third place, while reality star Kerry Katona finished as runner-up to Doherty.
