Sam's efforts in the kitchen didn't meet universal approval from the Housemates, with foodie Derek losing it in disgust.

"It's a complete waste of chicken thighs," Derek fumed. "It's awful. Nobody's got any concept of organising anything. Couldn't run a p***-up in a brewery. She's put half a can of salt in the *******ing thing."

But Kemal appealed for calm, telling them, "She's tried so hard."

Roberto said, "I think I would be the worst person to say anything about the food," as he'd already been accused of dominating the kitchen. But Sam asked Roberto to taste the potatoes. The worried-looking Italian told her the spuds were done, but the sauce "seems to be slightly salty," and suggested ways to reduce it.

"No, I like it," insisted Sam. "Thank you, that's fine, you can go now."

Derek, who was standing nearby in horror, took umbrage and went into one of his inexplicable tempers.

"Don't say you can go now! What a stupid thing to say. Go now! Go where?" he barked.

Sam said she only meant she was going to dish up.

"Don't worry. I'll stand and watch. This space belongs to us all," Derek insisted. Sam asked if he was joking.

"Jokes are not my suit!" he spat.

When the dish was finally served up, hungry Housemates made an effort to get it down, but Kemal, Craig and Vanessa went to the Diary Room to complain.

"That was vile," said Vanessa. "I ate it because she tried so hard. I feel like I'm going to throw up."

"I'm going to puke. It tastes like pure *******e," said Kemal. "No one ate it. They're all [trying to] bulimic themselves in the toilet."

Looks like Sam's got off cooking duties for the rest of her stay. Nice move.
