Comedian Dara O'Briain has been confirmed as host of the 2010 British Academy Video Game Awards after he successfully fronted the event last year.

The Mock The Week presenter, who is also an avid gamer, will present the ceremony on March 19 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Nominations for the awards will be announced on February 26, with Activision's Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare taking home the prestigious 'Game Of The Year' prize in 2009.

"I am delighted to have been asked back to host the GAME BAFTA's for the second year running," said O'Briain, who recently appeared on Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe programme.

"It's an honour to acclaim the very real people whose creativity, innovation and wit produce such amazing virtual worlds."

Video Games Committee chairman Ray Maguire added: "It is fantastic to have Dara hosting again this year. It makes a huge difference when a host understands games and Dara does. He is also brilliantly funny!"

For the first time ever, the awards ceremony in 2010 will be streamed live on the BAFTA website and a dedicated BAFTA Game Awards site.
