As Gail and Joe set off for the Lake District Rick arrives on the Street to try and collect the rest of his money. Meanwhile Joe reveals his plan to solve their financial problems to a stunned Gail!

Gail desperately tries to contact Joe but gets no reply. In desperation she calls David who agrees to come to the Lakes - once there he insists they call the police but will Gail see sense?

Peter promises to try and sort himself out but a sceptical Leanne and Ken know his only chance is rehab - but will they get him to agree?

Sunita tells Dev her aged aunts are coming to stay and they have no idea they are divorced. Dev agrees to play happy families to help out.

David and Gail prepare to leave the Lake District without Joe - convinced he has gone ahead with his plan to fake his own death and unaware he has actually drowned!

Gail and David arrive home having concocted a story about Joe staying in the Lakes to do some work, but they are shocked to discover that Nick has also come home, this time to stay.

Tina is stunned when Jason presents her with his divorce papers and pops the question.

Peter finally admits that he needs help after Simon refuses to go home with him.

For the sake of the twins they will get back together again.

They live happilly ever after

Desperate Gail Platt struggles with hubby Joe to try to thwart his plan to fake his death.

So when Gail jumps on to the boat to try to stop him sailing into the night they have a huge row.

They end up fighting before Joe throws Gail off the vessel.

She does her best to convince him to stay but he has none of it.

And the troubled dad-of-one sails away alone, leaving Gail in pieces at the edge of the water.

She heads home from the Lake District alone to carry out her side of the plan –just like real-life canoe couple John and Ann
Darwin – before reporting him missing to the police. Gail then has to convince all her friends and family she has no idea what happened to her man.

A Weatherfield insider said: “Gail is completely shocked when Joe tells her of his plan.

“She begs him not to go through with it but he truly believes that it’s the only way out of his debts.
“He tells her what she must do once he’s gone. Gail is in hysterics by the time he sets off.

“She does everything she can to stop him but fails.

“Joe sets off into the night, never to be seen again, and she’s left to face everyone on her own.

“She knows she has to hold it together for Joe’s plan to work but she thinks it’s a crazy idea.

“This should be the happiest time of Gail’s life but instead she’s been forced to deceive the police, her friends and family. It doesn’t sit comfortably with her at all.”

Fans of the hit ITV1 soap will be able to watch all the action as Gail tries to stop Joe from faking his own death a week tomorrow.

Coronation Street heads to the Lakes in a fortnight's time, where Joe's plans to wriggle out of his mounting debt problems takes a sinister turn.

Gail can't believe what she's hearing when Joe reveals his plans to fake his own death so she can claim on his life insurance. Understandably, Gail wants nothing to do with the fraud plot and outrightly refuses to be a part of it - and she's not prepared to let Joe set sail.

Joe rushes out onto the jetty and a blazing row between the pair ensues. Hellbent on setting sail, Joe jumps aboard the boat and Gail tries her best to stop him from setting sail by jumping aboard, too. However, after a tussle on deck, Joe manages to push Gail back onto dry land, allowing him to set sail alone.

Will Gail see Joe alive again?

IT’S romance on the cobbles as Jason Grimshaw hands Tina McIntyre an engagement ring.
