A star-studded lineup is to be featured on the Canadian telethon for Haiti relief.

According to UPI, Canada for Haiti will be broadcast tonight on all three major Canadian television networks - Global, CTV and CBC - an hour before the US telethon Hope for Haiti Now hits the airwaves on CTV, MTV Canada and Muchmusic.

The Canadian fundraising effort for Haitian earthquake relief will be hosted by the country's foremost entertainment news show presenters Ben Mulroney, Cheryl Hickey and George Stromboulopoulos.

The show will feature performances from The Tragically Hip, K'naan, Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Sarah McLachlan, Barenaked Ladies, Simple Plan, David Foster, Chantal Kreviazuk and Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida.

High-profile countrymen from movies, television and sports such as Wayne Gretzky, James Cameron, William Shatner, Michael J. Fox and Up in the Air director Jason Reitman will also be soliciting donations.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Haitian-born governor general Michaelle Jean will further be lending their endorsement.

All proceeds for the night will go towards a coalition of Canadian charities currently aiding the people of Haiti. These include Oxfam Canada, World Vision Canada, UNICEF Canada and Free the Children, along with a host of others.

The special will air exclusively in Canada at 7pm.

The Hope For Haiti: A Global Benefit For Earthquake Relief telethon has so far raised over $57m (£36m).

According to People, the star-studded event, which aired on over 50 networks in America on Friday night, has broken the record for the most money raised in a disaster appeal.

Furthermore, the Hope For Haiti Now album, which features performances from the evening, brought the biggest single-day album pre-order sales in iTunes history.

However, the figure raised is below the $150m (£93m) expected from the televised concert.

The charity event, fronted by Hollywood star George Clooney, was watched by a collective total of over 13m viewers.

The 'Hope For Haiti Now' album is on course to top the US album chart, according to reports.

The 20-track record, which features performances from last Friday's charity telethon, has sold close to 150,000 downloads and is expected to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 on January 27.

The album will also become the first digital-only release to top the chart in its 54-year history, Billboard reports.

Susan Boyle's debut I Dreamed A Dream had originally been tipped to return to No.1, however the 'Hope For Haiti Now' record quickly overtook the Scot when it reached digital distributors over the weekend.

The 'Hope For Haiti Now' event has so far raised over $57m (£36m) to help the island in the wake of the devastating earthquake earlier this month.
