Tea maker Typhoo has signed up as Coronation Street's third 50th anniversary brand partner.

Typhoo joins the 'Best of British' ranks alongside bread brand Warburtons and soap manufacturer Imperial Leather.

As part of the deal, each brand partner is afforded the use of Corrie's official 50th anniversary artwork on all advertising platforms.

ITV's director of promotions and new business Corine Pouvreau Miles said: "We are delighted to welcome Typhoo onboard as a promotional partner for the Coronation Street 50th anniversary 'Best of British' campaign - a collaboration which offers the perfect blend of two national treasures.... Together with our other brand partners Harveys, Warburtons and Imperial Leather, we are anticipating a spectacular and memorable calendar of activity in 2010.”

Kate Willoughby, Typhoo's marketing manager: "We are very proud to partner with one of the UK’s most loved TV shows on this landmark 50th anniversary campaign. A good cup of tea is fundamental to everything we Brits do and I can only imagine the number of dramatic storylines and revelations that have unfolded over the last 50 years when the Coronation Street characters have sat down for a cuppa! We are planning a number of innovative promotions which will offer unique opportunities for Typhoo and Corrie fans alike to enjoy the perfect partnership."

Official show sponsor Harveys will "remain at the centre of all activities" for the duration.

Coronation Street celebrates its 50th anniversary on Thursday, December 9.
