2736: Gilly proposes to Cheryl
Airs on Monday, January 18 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Zoe prepares to film Hannah in hospital, although she's still not convinced that it's a good idea. Nancy arrives and the girls start chatting about old times. It's quite a relaxed atmosphere, but as Hannah's food arrives, the mood quickly changes. Zoe leaves to take a call and returns to a very edgy Hannah who, even with the distraction of her friends, can't bring herself to eat a single mouthful.

In frustration, Hannah lets rip at a clearly shaken Zoe until she flees the room, followed by Nancy. While outside, Zoe reveals that the call was to let her know that Lydia has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Returning to Hannah's room, they find a much calmer Hannah with an empty plate, having eaten her dinner.

Zoe and Nancy are pleased for her, but as Zoe tries to rewind the tape that's been filming, Hannah rages and destroys it. Zoe and Nancy leave a guilty Hannah alone. Will she find the strength to overcome her demons?

After embarking on an unlikely relationship, Lauren and Gaz cause a stir by sharing a kiss in the common room. Anita's jaw nearly hits the floor as she witnesses the encounter between her best friend and enemy and confronts her about it. Theresa reminds Lauren that Gaz is a racist thug who tried to attack her but Lauren quickly reminds Anita that she attacked Gaz and almost killed him.

In her anger, Anita tells Lauren that she thinks she's pathetic for hiding behind her emo look when everyone else has moved on. Lauren's given food for thought. Later, Lauren tells Gaz that she's thinking of changing her image but he tells her that she should just be herself. Later, Lauren thanks Gaz for giving her a wake up call - she's finally ready to reveal the real Lauren Valentine.

Meanwhile, still furious over Gilly's accusations, Cheryl rants to anyone who'll listen as she's adamant that she won't take him back. Having had her ear chewed throughout the day, Steph can't help but think that Cheryl's over-reacting. When Gilly arrives to apologise, she refuses to listen and tells him to leave. As Gilly tries to impress Cheryl, Steph's heart melts. To her, Gilly is the perfect, romantic boyfriend but Cheryl remains frosty. Gilly eventually leaves, disheartened by Cheryl's rejection.

In a last ditch attempt to win his girl around, Gilly stands on top of the archway and declares his love through a loud speaker. Will this romantic gesture be enough to win Cheryl's around? And what will Cheryl say when Gilly proposes?

Elsewhere, despite Cindy using his money for her new boutique, Tony's certain that she'll soon get bored. Cindy, however, is determined to make her business a success and with India's help, she has the shop looking amazing. In Il Gnosh, Dominic can't understand why Tony's being so negative - it's like he wants her to fail. Dom's clearly hit the nail on the head and Tony's left to question his own motives.

The boutique's a success from the start and the money begins rolling in, much to Cindy's delight. Fed up, Dom tells Tony that he's being pathetic when Tony berates him for shopping at the boutique. With that, Tony's forced to admit his fears that Cindy won't need him any longer now that she's earning her own money.

2737: Rhys and Josh come to blows
Airs on Tuesday, January 19 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

With business booming at the boutique, Cindy's joy is overshadowed by Tony's lack of support. When he hears that Cindy's meeting with a supplier, his jealousy gets the better of him and he sets out to teach Cindy a lesson. Tony secretly watches an excitable Cindy leave for her appointment and lets himself into the boutique.

Later, as he's serving in Il Gnosh, Cindy rushes in to ask for his help - she can't turn the alarm off. Tony relishes the opportunity to point out exactly how much she relies on him and agrees to reset the alarm for her. Tony's satisfaction is short-lived, though, as Cindy expresses her frustration about his attitude towards her.

With that, Tony reveals his concerns, before confessing to meddling with the alarm. He goes on to admits that he wants her to need him, prompting a guilt-ridden Cindy to declare her love for him.

Happily assured that she doesn't want to leave him, Tony reciprocates and presents his wife with a surprise gift. Cindy's delighted with her new sign for 'Cincerity' and the newfound support of her loving husband.

Meanwhile, Cheryl's suffering with a hangover but her excitement over her engagement is unmistakeable. In order to honour their decision to keep the news quiet for the time being, Cheryl makes every effort to keep everyone in the dark but happily admits that she and Gilly are back together.

Leo and Carmel, however, incorrectly arrive at the conclusion that Cheryl's secrecy is down to the fact that she's pregnant! Leo tries to congratulate her but thinking that he's sussed the engagement, Cheryl swears him to secrecy.

Following Hannah's outburst, Zoe's unsure that she should continue to film the family but Josh is determined not to give up now. A nervous Darren turns up to visit Hannah but is relieved when Hannah's clearly glad to see him. She assures him that she's doing well and goes on to reveal that she could be discharged tomorrow. Darren, however, is doubtful.

At The Dog, an angry Rhys walks in on Suzanne, Neville and Josh in front of the camera. Refusing to join in, Rhys is resolute that Hannah wants to die and sees no point in showing her any support. Josh accuses him of being a coward and the brothers start to fight, before being pulled apart by Neville. Rhys finally crumbles as the devastation over Hannah's condition becomes too much.

Rhys watches the footage on Zoe's camera and the realisation that she is genuinely ill hits him. He turns up at the hospital and offers Hannah an apology but she's too hurt to forgive him. With that, Hannah orders Rhys to leave - and as the reality of her brother's betrayal hits her, she begins to break down.

Elsewhere, Elliot's dissatisfied with his essay mark and resolves to devote his full attention to his studies. Zak, however, disturbs him with the TV and refuses to turn the volume down. Unable to come to an agreement, Zak's incredulous when Carmel shows up, informing him of a noise complaint and he has no choice but to concede. Zak plots to exact his revenge and Elliot's surprised when Sheila turns up.

When Elliot declines to break from his work, Sheila reveals her sadness over the death of her cat and admits that when she heard he wanted to see her, it was a comfort to. Elliot smells a rat and realises that Zak's to blame for her arrival but he surrenders and reluctantly prepares himself for a night off from his studies.

2738: Gilly learns of Cheryl's 'pregnancy'
Airs on Wednesday, January 20 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Rhys is frustrated when he hears of Neville's plans to free up some cash to pay for Hannah's treatment. When Gilly arrives and announces that he's engaged to Cheryl, the mood's lightened. However, Rhys' pleasure is dampened when he realises that Gilly wants both him and Josh as joint best men. While having a pint with Leo, Gilly's surprised when he offers him his congratulations and tells him that Cheryl let slip their good news - that he's going to be a dad!

Announcing that he knows nothing about a baby, a panicked Leo suggests that Cheryl may be waiting for the right moment to tell him. Just then, Cheryl arrives with Tom in tow and tells Gilly that he's on babysitting duty! Heading to the park, Gilly's calmed by Tom's outlook on life but he's sadden to hear that they're moving to Spain as soon as the wedding is over.

Gilly confides in Rhys about his impending fatherhood but Rhys is full of doom and gloom. We soon sense a shift in Gilly's outlook, though. Attempting to discuss fatherhood with Cheryl causes more harm than good, though, and with wires well and truly crossed, Gilly finds himself on the end of a tongue lashing from Cheryl when she tells him that he's not fit to be a dad…

Hannah's apprehensive about the day ahead and her possible release from hospital - so long as she's put weight on, the outlook is good. While Zoe continues to film her ordeal, Suzanne, Neville and Josh arrive and the meeting begins.

Thrilled to hear that she's gained body weight, Hannah's buoyed by the news and admits that she wants a future without an eating disorder. This time, Hannah feels she's strong enough to start living again and is made up when she's given the all clear to go home.

Meanwhile, Cheryl's keen to hear what Neville and Suzanne will say about their wedding but Gilly's not sure it's such a good idea to tell them with Hannah being in hospital. Cheryl can't help but tell Steph her news and Gilly realises their engagement can longer be kept a secret. Unable to contain her excitement, Cheryl tells Fernando, who's in the process of organising a meeting with the priest for his and Steph's ceremony.

Guilt-ridden, Steph peeps at Fernando's self-penned vows and reluctantly admits that she hasn't had time to start her own. Fernando calms her, insisting that as long as the words come from her heart, that's all that matters. When Tom grows upset about the move to Spain, Steph attempts to allay his fears but Steph herself is struggling with the enormity of the change - in her heart she has massive doubts.

Elsewhere, Elliot's frustrations towards Sheila grow as he struggles to balance his studies alongside her company. Still upset at the loss of her cat, Sheila's looking for some TLC but realises that Elliot's far too preoccupied with revision. With that, she decides to draw up a schedule which incorporates study time and Sheila time.

Elliot's totally freaked out by Sheila's intervention and cruelly lashes out. Deciding enough is enough, an upset Sheila admonishes Elliot and tells him exactly what she

2739: The Ashworths reunite
Airs on Thursday, January 21 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Neville and Suzanne plan a day at the beach to celebrate Hannah's homecoming from hospital. However, not all the Ashworths are as keen as it gradually dawns on Hannah that Rhys won't be attending because of her. Duncan's disappointed not to be included in the family fun, while Rhys is firm that he's not going.

The day out takes its toll on Hannah as she stubbornly stays in the car, while Josh, Neville and Suzanne head down to the beach. At The Dog, Gilly accuses Rhys of not caring about his family and after an angry exchange, Gilly walks out, leaving a pensive Rhys thinking.

At the beach, Hannah finally joins her family and heads down to the beach. Neville, however, suddenly realises that he's left the sandcastle equipment at home and everyone's spirits are dampened - until Rhys makes a surprise appearance with the buckets and spades. With a sandcastle of the Dog left on the beach, the Ashworths head home and Rhys finally reconciles with Hannah.

Celebrating the day, everyone's on top form and as they prepare to toast the family, Hannah has another agenda. With that, Hannah announces that she wants to move away from Hollyoaks to make her recovery. Realising that her move is the only way Hannah can control her own destiny, Rhys gives his blessing - and one by one, so do the rest of her family. For Hannah, this is the start of her journey on her own terms…

Meanwhile, Gilly feigns pleasure and offers his congratulations when Fernando shows him photos of his villa in Spain. However, showing Steph the contract for Villa Rosa doesn't have the effect Fernando thought it would. Expressing her fears that it all feels a little rushed sends Steph into a panic and she suggests that she should pop out for some wine. As she does, Fernando's left bemused by her outburst.

Bumping into Gilly, it's clear that their relationships are playing heavy on their hearts and suggesting a drink, Steph follows Gilly into The Dog. Listening to wedding arrangements does nothing to dispel each other's unease about the future - and to top it all, Steph's left reeling when she discovers that Cheryl's apparently pregnant.

Asking her to keep the baby news a secret, Gilly admits the one thing he's terrified about is his first dance at the wedding. Agreeing to help him, Steph hauls him to his feet and they soon find themselves gliding in perfect harmony, gazing into each other's eyes. The spell is broken, though, by Hannah's arrival and Steph makes her excuses and leaves, clearly rattled by the encounter.

Malachy encourages Mercedes to throw a sickie and in no rush to see Calvin, she complies with his wishes. With the offer of breakfast in bed and her favourite movie on TV, Mercedes snuggles up with Malachy, - all thoughts of Calvin and The Loft a million miles away. Enjoying spending quality time together, Malachy takes a moment to tell Mercedes that he's been saving up so they can buy their own house.

A guilty Mercedes struggles to give him the enthusiasm he needs and once more, doubts over their relationship begin to swamp Malachy's mind.

2740: The graduates discuss going travelling
Airs on Friday, January 22 2010 at 18:30 GMT on Channel 4

Wedding pressure begins to get to Steph and she begins to panic about her impending nuptials. Unaware of how down Steph is feeling, Cheryl witters on about her own wedding arrangements and as talk turns to honeymoons, Steph's quick to tell Cheryl what sort of honeymoon Gilly would like. Taking umbrage, Cheryl flounces off.

Growing increasingly confused by Steph's behaviour, Cheryl's surprised when she congratulates her on her 'good news'. Heading to see Gilly, a furious Cheryl calls his bluff and tells him that she's pregnant to gauge his reaction. Aware that he's lying, Cheryl cross-examines him and asks how he knew about the baby. Mentioning Leo, it's clear that there's been a huge misunderstanding and that he's been talking to Steph about parenthood.

Suggesting they meet to discuss the situation further, Gilly's gutted by her parting words when she reveals him she's not actually pregnant. Cheryl, meanwhile, realises that whenever Steph's name is mentioned, Gilly bumbles his words. Convinced that there's something going on between them, Cheryl asks him how he feels about Steph. Unable to answer, a devastated Cheryl reaches the only conclusion - Gilly's in love with Steph. With that, a distraught but defiant Cheryl calls an immediate halt to their relationship.

Running into Steph and Frankie, Cheryl confesses that she's split up with Gilly and that she's not pregnant. Frankie's intrigued to know the gossip but Steph's in no mood and storms off in search of Fernando. Facing her feelings, Steph braces herself and tells Fernando that she can't marry him - she doesn't love him in the right way. His world crumbling around him, a gracious Fernando accepts her words and vows to continue what he does best - to keep dancing.

Meanwhile, Hannah and Zoe catch up with Kris. Hannah takes the opportunity to tell her friends about her plans for the future and her imminent departure from Hollyoaks. As Kris and Zoe listen, they soon become caught in the excitement of travelling and before they realise, they've decided to join Hannah for the adventure.

With emotions running high, the friends look over a map of the world and exotic destinations are bandied around. The moment comes to an abrupt halt, though, when Nancy returns from school. Blaming Zoe for inciting Kris's excitement over travelling, Nancy thanks them for highlighting how boring her life is - stuck in Hollyoaks with a child for the rest of her life…

Elsewhere, Mercedes and Malachy show up at The Loft, refreshed from their sickie yesterday. Calvin's eager for them to get stuck in and wastes no time in issuing duties. Mercedes' suspicions are aroused, though, when Carmel drops in looking for Calvin - but all Mercedes can do is pass on a message.

Later, Calvin's surprised to find Carmel on his doorstep and he's shocked to see that their divorce papers have come through. Genuinely upset that their marriage is over, both struggle to confess how they really feel.

Calvin's true feelings only become apparent, though, when Carmel leaves - his pains is clearly etched across his face. Finding a distraught Cheryl at The Loft, Calvin does what any friend would do and offers her a shoulder to cry on. A tipsy Cheryl, however, takes it one step further and on their walk home, friendship turns to passion and they share a kiss…
