Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has offered to become the new owner of an abandoned dog.

The 33-year-old actress, best known for playing Michelle Connor on the Weatherfield soap, called This Morning today after the programme showed a number of dogs who needed new homes.

Among the pooches brought on to the show by the RSPCA and Battersea Dogs Home was 10-week-old Oliver, a retriever cross puppy who was left in a box outside a pet shop at the weekend.

RSPCA representative Simon Osbourne told viewers: "Fortunately he was spotted by a member of the public as anything could've happened to him in this weather in that box. He's now looking for a home - being a puppy he needs to go to an appropriate home and to someone who is prepared to put in the time and effort to puppy train and deal with the associated costs."

Minutes later, mother-of-two Marsh contacted the morning show to volunteer herself as a suitable candidate.

Host Phillip Schofield said: "We can't obviously just give Olly away, even to Kym, but we are putting her in touch with the RSPCA and they can hopefully sort it out between the two of them. So we may have homed one of our dogs already!"

IT'S been a case of puppy love for newly-engaged couple Kym Marsh and Jamie Lomas this week.
They've adopted a three-month-old abandoned retriever-cross called Oliver after a charity appeal on ITV1's This Morning.

Corrie star Kym said: "He just melted our hearts."

CORRIE star Kym Marsh has given up the rescue dog she adopted just weeks ago after seeing him on This Morning.

The actress, 33, handed labrador retriever cross Oliver to a family friend after deciding she did not have enough time to devote to him.

A pal said: "It wasn't working out. Oliver was a proper handful.

"Because he'd had a difficult background he needed some serious training."

Kym, who plays Rovers Return barmaid Michelle, adopted the pup in January after watching a This Morning feature about abandoned dogs.

 They would have know about his training requirement and Kym and Jamie should have made sure they had the time to dedicate to the puppy

A dog is for life not just for a bit of publicity. If you can't take care of an animal don't adopt it in the first place... :/
