Unaware of the hurt that she's caused her daughter, Kathleen insists that she's only there to borrow the money Theresa's father left for her 18th birthday as she needs it to help her get to Spain. An unconscious Zoe finally come to and the events preceding her attack are fresh in her mind as Lydia's face looms before her. Meanwhile, it's New Year's Eve and Frankie suggests a night out at The Dog to celebrate and asks Steph and Fernando along. Arriving at the pub, they're greeted by a drunk Rhys who's on a mission to live like it's his last day on earth. Before long, Rhys passes out and Gilly's heart sinks when Fernando shows him the ring he's bought for Steph, before revealing his plans to propose to her.

Frankie tells Cheryl that Gilly has admitted he's in love with her and thrilled, Cheryl quickly reciprocates her feelings for him. Realising that Fernando's proposal is imminent, Gilly panics and manages to stop him in his tracks.

Mike lambastes Charlotte for keeping her knowledge a secret, before heading home to confront Lydia. However, back at the Barnes', they discover Lydia's suicide note. Mike and Dave realise that Zoe's in grave peril…
