Despite Freddie Mercury being dead for 20 years, Queen are enjoying something of a renaissance in 2009. The band's iconic and spectacularly gifted singer was this week honoured with a commemorative star on the streets of Feltham, where he was raised. Meanwhile, earlier this month, Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared on the "X-Factor" to mentor the competition's contestants and lead them through a version of "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Which is perhaps what inspired the real Muppets to have a crack at one of rock's greatest tracks. Because Jim Henson's band of colourful characters, including Gonzo, Animal, Fozzie Bear, Scooter and Beaker, are currently taking the internet by storm with their version, which had close to a million hits in its first 24 hours of going online. The final word, save for a brief Kermit cameo, has to go to Miss Piggy, who steals the show with her line: "Nothing really matters...but MOI". As the ultimate showman, Freddie would surely have had it no other way.
