Craig Kelly has announced that he would not rule out a future return to Coronation Street.

The actor, who was voted off BBC reality show Strictly Come Dancing earlier this month, confirmed that he enjoyed the experience of playing bad boy Luke Strong on the soap because it was a unique experience in his career.

Underworld boss Luke left Weatherfield last month after conning Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan) out of her new-found fortune. In real life, Kelly had decided to quit his role after less than a year.

The 39-year-old has now told the Blackpool Citizen: "I had a great time playing a rogue. Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie, is an absolute sweetheart but Rosie as a character is a bit mouthy. She had it coming, I think.

"I don't get chance to play those sort of roles. They are juicier. So I'd never say never to going back."

On his dancing stint, he added: "I'm not missing Strictly at all. It's a great relief to not have to train every day. I've been really chilling out and catching up on things that I'd had to put on hold. I'm reading a few new scripts for some plays at the moment. I've worked solidly for over a year, so I need a bit of a break."

Kelly was recently seen playing Jeffrey Rampton in five-part drama Collision.

Why would he want to return? He should leave the character the way he left it- it made a better ending!

Did he decide to leave or was his character written out. If the decision to leave Corrie was his then he shouldn't get the chance to return.

I think it could make for an interesting time if he returned. He was much better than Carla. There could be good storylines from his return.

I found him a little uneasy in his acting and behaviour
I am not missing him and I am pleased that he got one up on Rosie!

Former Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones has ruled out a return to the Weatherfield soap for its 50th anniversary.

The 30-year-old, who played Karen McDonald between 2000 and 2004, was rumoured to be interested in reprising her role in time for the ITV soap's golden anniversary next December.

She subsequently branded a return 'unlikely' and has now completely ruled out the possibility.

She told the Lancaster and Morecambe Citizen: "I wouldn't go back to Corrie. I think you should move on. I'm even reluctant to say 'never say never' because I definitely don't want to."

She added: "I love Coronation Street and the people but I don't miss it. I like the variety I can do now. I am a bit greedy like that."

Earlier this month, Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts) claimed to have discussed a potential return with show bosses, while former Street star Angela Griffin (Fiona Middleton) recently reaffirmed her interest in being part of the anniversary.

The Queen has also been linked to the show's 50th celebrations.

Basically, they were mates years ago. Paul Connor was the guy who took Luke under his wing. Luke's history has more than likely seen him in trouble with the police or in prison - that was the wake up call for him and on his release, he resolved to turn his life around. He's kind of a bad boy gone good in a strange way. He got his break through Paul, who taught him so well. Luke became better at the job that Paul, which caused a rift. Carla's not seen Luke for about five to seven years. Despite that, what's intriguing is that she calls on Luke to take on Tony and unsettle him. Luke's a strong character and Tony doesn't like him in the slightest. He can't quite work him out."

No, he's not a good actor. He seems very self-conscious, especially on SCD.

He was very unsure of himself as though he was emabarrased to be seen dancing or something
