EASTENDERS' childhood sweethearts Ricky Butcher and Bianca Jackson are to get engaged this Christmas.
The long-divorced pair get their happy ending from show bosses looking to spread a little love over the festive season.

They will also be the focus of a special DVD to mark the soap's 25th anniversary in February.

The spin-off - EastEnders: Last Tango In Walford - will chart the lead up to their big day. It sees daughter Tiffany set out to find Bianca's estranged mum Carol and the rest of the family.

Bianca - famed for bawling RICKYYYYY at her ex - gets her man when his latest squeeze - and first wife - Sam Mitchell (Danniella Westbrook), quits the Square.

The stage has been set for a Ricky and Bianca reunion since actors Sid Owen and Patsy Palmer returned to the soap last year.

A show spokesman said: "They'll get engaged around Christmas. Then there will be a spin-off DVD looking at the preparation for their wedding."

The DVD will also look back over their rocky relationship.

Archive footage will chart their first date to first marriage in 1997. It is also set to feature their eventual split after Bianca's fling with her mum's boyfriend.

Fans who buy the DVD - Last Tango In Walford - will see them attempt the legendary dance. And they will be treated to the cast performing a Girls Aloud number

Will have to buy this. It seems that Tiffany is told that Ricky is her dad then; I was wondering if that would happen as Whitney wouldn't be left without any real family now she has Ryan.

As you've probably already read, EastEnders' favourite couple Ricky (Sid Owen) and Bianca (Patsy Palmer) are to tie the knot again in a Valentine's Day storyline that coincides with the BBC soap's 25th anniversary.

To tie in with the nuptials of the Square's childhood sweethearts - and to mark the silver anniversary - BBC DVD will be releasing a special DVD titled EastEnders: Last Tango In Walford.

The straight-to-DVD feature focuses on Bianca's children Tiffany (Maisie Smith) and Liam (James Forde) as they capture footage for a video diary in the run-up to their mother's big day.

Tiffany's task is shrouded in mystery, though, when she's faced with the challenge of tracking down her grandmother - Bianca's mum - Carol (Lindsey Coulson). Not one to be beaten by circumstance, Tiffany makes it her mission to find Carol and discover the truth behind her animosity with Bianca.

The video diary will also feature interviews from Pat (Pam St Clement), Ian (Adam Woodyatt), Janine (Charlie Brooks) and Phil (Steve McFadden) as well as a hoard of archive footage which is pieced together to document Ricky and Bianca's love story right from the beginning.

Ricky and Bianca will also feature heavily as they reminisce about their highs and lows during a lonely stroll through the deserted streets of Walford. The title of the DVD is then borne out when the pair show off their tango skills!

And there's also a special cast performance of a Girls Aloud song which is apparently amazing.

More on that as and when I can!

EastEnders: Last Tango In Walford is due to be released on Monday, February 8.

Hopefully the title of the DVD isn't significant in the continuation of the storyline in the main show...

I say Ricky might adopt Whitney and Morgan - he is very close to all the kids
