View Full Version : Miranda
Starting on BBC Two on Monday 9 November 2009 at 8:30pm
Miranda is a forthcoming British television series written by and starring comedenne Miranda Hart. It will premier on BBC Two on Monday 9 November 2009.
Hart recorded the pilot episode of Miranda for BBC Two in 2008, which was then developed into a sitcom for radio. Based on her semi-autobiographical writing, the series aired as Miranda Hart's Joke Shop on BBC Radio 2. A television series was later commissioned, and was picked as one of the top 10 forthcoming TV shows for Autumn 2009 by The Sunday Times.

Popular sitcom Miranda is to move from BBC Two to BBC One when it returns for a third series, the BBC has announced.
The sitcom, which sees Miranda Hart playing an exaggerated version of herself, earned three prizes at last month's British Comedy awards.
Hart, who also writes the show, said it was like "renting a swish apartment that I hope I don't look out of place in or break all the furniture".
The TV comedy followed her Radio 2 show, Miranda Hart's Joke Shop.
"I am very grateful to BBC Two for supporting and nurturing me, and trusting my vision for the show," Hart said.
The 38-year-old was named best actress at the British Comedy awards, while her shoe was voted best new TV comedy.
George Entwhistle of BBC Vision said: "Miranda's been a tremendous hit with audiences on BBC Two.
"I'm very glad she's let us persuade her to move to BBC One, where we believe we can build an even bigger following."

The BBC has suggested that Miranda will not be returning any time soon.
The show, written by and starring Miranda Hart, has proved a huge hit with viewers and made the move from BBC Two to BBC One for its third series.
However, BBC executive Shane Allen admitted at a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch: "She is doing a live tour and then has film plans.
"The fourth series will probably be a long way off."
Hart recently laughed off polls naming her as viewers' favourite choice for a female Doctor on Doctor Who.
"Really? Who, me? Are you serious? That's hilarious," she said.
"I'm just surprised constantly by [my] popularity, let alone the fact [people] want me to be Doctor Who."

Miranda will come to an end with two Christmas specials.
The sitcom's star Miranda Hart confirmed the news during an interview to promote a new book about the series.
When asked by BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright why she had chosen to release The Best of Miranda, the award-winning comic actress explained: "Well, [it's] because I'm actually coming to the end of the whole sitcom.
"This is the first time I'm saying it out loud, so it's a bit weird!"
Hart continued by saying: "So I'm doing two Christmas specials, but they are going to be the finale of the show, full stop. So I wanted to do a book to celebrate the series and celebrate all the people who have supported it and watched it, so they get to see the scripts and some backstage gossip and all that sort of thing."
Miranda debuted on BBC Two in 2009, moving to BBC One for its third series in late 2012 and early 2013.
Starring Hart as a version of herself, Sarah Hadland, Patricia Hodge, Tom Ellis and Sally Phillips also feature among the ensemble cast.
Speaking last year, Ellis had hinted that the show would return to television, saying that he felt the story - including his character Gary's on-off relationship with Miranda - needed a conclusion.
"I think there's certainly some more of the story to be told. I can't say when [another series is] going to happen, but I think it's not going to go away."
The Best of Miranda is out now.
