A controversial new TV drama will show Gary Glitter being hanged for sex crimes against children.
In real life the singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was jailed in 1999 after downloading pornographic images of youngsters.
The 90-minute Channel 4 film is set in an imaginary Britain where the death penalty has been re-introduced.
It portrays a public backlash after a wave of child abuse cases.
And first to be tried under new capital punishment legislation is the 70s glam rock star.
Channel 4 say they have contacted Gadd to inform him of the film, The Execution of Gary Glitter, which will be shown on November 9.
Head of documentaries Hamish Mykura says: “High profile crimes against children often prompt calls for the death penalty. This drama confronts the public with what many say they want.”
To launch the drama, Channel 4 commissioned a survey in which 70% said the death penalty should be brought back for certain crimes.
