SCOTS singing sensation Susan Boyle is all set to be a real Christmas cracker this year - as the star of a festive telly spectacular.

The 48-year-old will perform live in front of a galaxy of stars for ITV's An Audience With Susan Boyle.

The spinster - who was runner- up on Britain's Got Talent - will sing hits from her debut album on the hour-long glitzy telly extravaganza.

And the show is already being tipped as ITV's biggest weapon to take on the BBC in the Christmas ratings war.

A TV source said: "Susan started her career on ITV so it is only right it should properly take off on ITV as well.

"Already people are calling it the jewel in ITV's crown this Christmas. The show could be screened across the globe and be one of ITV's biggest ever ratings successes.

"Britain's Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden will definitely want to be there but producers are considering inviting celeb fans like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher."

SuBo, from Blackburn, West Lothian, pulled in 20million US viewers when she sang debut single Wild Horses on America's Got Talent.

Her album I Dreamed A Dream is released on November 23 and will be a smash on both sides of the Atlantic.

The source added: "Susan's show will be the must-watch programme over the festive period."

Sharon Osbourne has claimed that Susan Boyle looks like a "slapped a**e".

The America's Got Talent judge made the remark in a US radio interview along with a number of other insults about Boyle's appearance.

Speaking about Boyle's success on Sirius XM Radio, Osbourne commented: "I like everybody to do well. Even somebody that looks like a slapped a**e. God bless her. It's like, 'You go girl'. She does look like a hairy a**ehole."

Osbourne went on to describe the overnight sensation as a "lovely lady" who needs a "Gillette razor".

She continued: "[God] gave her the talent. Yes he did. [And] he hit her with a f**king ugly stick."

Footage of the star's interview has since been uploaded onto YouTube, where it has attracted a largely negative response.

Osbourne's attack comes less than two months after she was seen applauding and blowing a kiss at Boyle following her performance on the America's Got Talent final.

What a bitch!

Sharon Osborne is a plastic representation of a real woman. She has totally remade herself because she was insecure with her looks.

She should be ashamed of herself for putting down another woman in such an unpleasant manner.

Simon Cowell led tributes tonight as Susan Boyle made chart history by soaring straight to No 1 with her debut album.

I Dreamed A Dream shifted more than 410,000 copies - the best first week's sale for a debut album since records began.

The 48-year-old Britain's Got Talent finalist smashed efforts from JLS, Black Eyed Peas and Queen, whose latest efforts were forced to settle for second, third and fourth spots respectively.

Her cover of the Rolling Stones classic Wild Horses entered the singles charts in ninth place.

Cowell, the pop mogul who masterminded her rise from obscurity, said: "I'm incredibly proud of Susan as well as being delighted for her. The success could not not have happened to a lovelier person. She did it her way and made a dream come true.

"In Britain's Got Talent she opened her mouth and the world fell in love with her, which is why her album has been the fastest selling of any woman making her debut. She's amazing."

Martin Talbot, of the Official Charts Company, said: "Susan Boyle's achievement is quite phenomenal. After all of the excitement surrounding her appearance on Britain's Got Talent, everyone expected her to make a big impact when she released her first music - but to arrive with such a bang is exceptional."

Ex-reality stars continue to figure strongly in the Official UK Charts Company album figures. Last week's No 1, Leona Lewis' Echo was in fifth.

Michael Buble's Crazy Love record was confirmed as sixth while Lady Gaga's The Fame was seventh. Snow Patrol, Robbie Williams and Will Young completed the top ten.

In the singles charts, The Official BBC Children in Need Medley by Peter Kay's Animated All Stars, beat another charity effort, You Are Not Alone by the X Factor finalists, to top spot.

Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo finished third, Black Eyed Peas' Meet Me Halfway was fourth, Lady Gaga's Bad Romance climbed to fifth while Rihanna's new release Russian Roulette finished surprisingly low at six.

Tik Tok by Kesha, Fight For This Love by Cheryl Cole, Boyle and Leona Lewis' Happy completed the top 10.

SUSAN BOYLE's debut album I Dreamed A Dream continues to sell like oat cakes all over the world.
It's difficult to explain the scale of how well the Scottish lassie with the big hits and hairy chassis is doing.

Last week SuBo clocked up 1,195,820 sales in just a week - 411,820 copies in the UK and 784,000 in the USA.

Nothing is going to budge her broad bottom off that top spot for a while yet.

No other female has scored as big a debut in American or UK music history.

The only debut album to sell better in its first week in the US was SNOOP DOGG's 1993 album which sold 803,000.

Experts say SuBo, back home in Blackburn, West Lothian, with cat Pebbles, will shift another two million copies this week.

When the royalties start rolling in she will be a millionaire many times over. The current worldwide shipment of I Dreamed is 3,361,000 - and bosses at her label are making urgent arrangements to manufacture more.

So far the album has been at No1 in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

It is No2 in Holland and Argentina and No5 in Switzerland.

But what do the Swiss know about music?

The way SuBo's going, though, she might want to tap up their banking skills.

Susan Boyle dreamed a dream and now she's breaking records on the Billboard album chart.

I Dreamed a Dream is debuting at No. 1 with 701,000 copies sold in the U.S., breaking the record for highest single-week sales for an album in 2009, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It also now stands as the best-selling debut album from a female artist since tracking began in 1991.

The former Britain's Got Talent contestant and YouTube phenomenon's first-week sales stateside come just two days after Boyle broke records across the pond. In her native United Kingdom, the Scottish singer's album sold 410,000 copies to become the best-selling debut album by a singer.

The name of the record stems from Boyle's cover of the Les Miserables tune, which first shot her to stardom in the United Kingdom and across the world.

Boyle's rise to fame will be documented in her own hourlong special on the TV Guide Network. I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story will feature a sit-down with Boyle herself as well as friends and fans.

Susan Boyle may have enjoyed a year to remember during 2009 but the first four weeks of 2010 look like being a month she would sooner forget. In the middle of January, the "Britain's Got Talent" runner-up and global singing sensation was reprimanded by BA staff at Heathrow Airport after being "disruptive" with a mop.

Yesterday, news broke that she been confronted by an intruder at her home in Scotland, prompting her brother to admit he fears she could be assassinated like John Lennon. But perhaps the revelation that will hurt the most stems from comments made by her idol Elaine Paige, who has dismissed her success with some scathing comments.

"I don't particularly feel any pride for her," admitted Paige in a new interview. "I'm sure she is proud of what she has done. It's all about turning someone into an immediate celebrity at the expense of longevity and working hard and experience," said the 61-year-old West End star, who puts Boyle's success down to the modern phenomenon of reality TV stars rather than natural ability.

Her thoughts are sure to come as major blow to Boyle, who only last month shared a stage with her idol Paige. They sang a rendition of "I Know Him So Well" on national TV, prompting the following comments from a thrilled Boyle: "I never thought I would see myself standing on the same stage with such an icon from West End theatre, let alone singing with her as an equal." It looks like Elaine Paige thinks some singers are more equal than others.

Susan Boyle's idol Elaine Paige has apologised after she labelled the Scottish singer "a virus that swept the world."

The I Dreamed A Dream hitmaker became an overnight success last year after a clip of her Britain's Got Talent audition spread across the internet and gained her legions of fans worldwide.

She has since sold millions of copies of her debut album, also titled I Dreamed A Dream, and was given the chance to duet with Paige for a TV special.

But Paige appeared to have turned on Boyle after she made a series of unflattering comments about her, calling her a "virus" and suggesting the singer had not earned her place in the music industry as she had forfeited years of "working hard and experience."

However, Paige is adamant she did not mean to cause offence - as she is one of Boyle's biggest fans.

She says, "I wasn’t referring to Susan herself (when I called her a virus); I was referring to the speed of her fame spreading as fast as a worldwide viral marketing campaign. I am a huge supporter of Susan Boyle and admire what she has achieved.

"I have always said it’s very hard for someone to be fast-tracked to stardom without any prior experience - I know this as it happened to me when Evita (the musical) opened and I found it extremely difficult in the beginning.

"Today, of course, it’s much harder with the phenomenon of the internet - Facebook, YouTube etc - it seems it only takes minutes for fame to spread around the world - and that’s why I used the word ‘virus’."

a lot of jealousy as Susan is doing so well

Susan Boyle collapsed at Heathrow Airport while waiting for a flight to France earlier this week.

The Britain's Got Talent star fainted in the British Airways Club Lounge after becoming overheated, her representatives have confirmed.

It is understood that Boyle received medical attention before being given the green light to board her flight as planned. After arriving in Nice, the singer made a trip across the border to Italy, where she performed at the 60th San Remo Festival.

An onlooker who witnessed Boyle's collapse told the Daily Mail: "It was very dramatic. Susan's legs just gave way under her and she went down."

A spokesman for the star said: "Susan did faint at Heathrow as she overheated in the lounge because it was so warm. However, she is fine now and gave a fantastic performance at the festival."

Last month, reports suggested that Boyle had been asked to calm down by British Airways staff after allegedly causing a disturbance at Heathrow's Terminal 5.

Internet retailer Amazon has tipped Susan Boyle's second album to top this year's Christmas chart.

The online store has already received two million requests for the follow-up to Boyle's debut disc I Dreamed A Dream, according to The Mirror.

An industry source told the newspaper: "We haven't seen this before. It's seven months ahead of the release and already people are putting in requests for pre-sales. It's an incredible achievement already."

An Amazon spokesman said: "We are certain it will make the Christmas number one spot. It's not often you can say that in April."

I Dreamed A Dream secured last year's festive top spot and had strong sales internationally. Boyle is expected to start work on its sequel in two weeks' time.

Susan Boyle's debut album has been confirmed to be the world's best-selling record of 2009.

Despite I Dreamed A Dream only being released in November, the singer was named as Britain's top-selling release last year, narrowly losing out to Taylor Swift's Fearless in the US.

However, new figures released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) show that Boyle has nevertheless scored the world number one, shifting more copies of her debut LP in the last five weeks of 2009 than any other artist or band managed across the entire 12 months.

Boyle took the title with 8.3 million in total sales.

Susan Boyle was driven to tears after a group of fellow train passengers mocked and taunted the singer, according to sources.

Boyle, who was sitting alone on her 30-minute journey home from Edinburgh to Blackburn, West Lothian on Sunday afternoon, rounded on commuters who began laughing at her, reports The Sun.

She reportedly said: "I'm normally patient but I am about to greet, greet, greet. I don't normally get angry with people. I'm ashamed of you all - shut up. I'm warning you, it's not funny. You wouldn't like it."

An onlooker revealed that a tearful Boyle was visibly upset as the taunts continued.

They said: "Susan was minding her own business on the train. Some people were taking pictures. There were people laughing at her - it was not nice. People noticed she was sobbing. Something was upsetting her.

"She then turned to the people sitting opposite her and told them off. Susan certainly put them in their place - and good for her. It can't be easy dealing with the fame she has but she handled it well."

Susan Boyle has performed for Pope Benedict XVI in Glasgow, during the UK state visit of the leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Britain's Got Talent runner-up performed hymn 'How Great Thou Art' and the title song from her debut album I Dreamed A Dream in front of a crowd of 65,000 worshippers at Bellahouston Park.

Speaking to the BBC's Reporting Scotland prior to the event, Boyle said: "It's hard to describe it. It's hard to put into words, really.

“But it will be a very humbling experience, a very indescribable experience. It's beyond my imagination, beyond my wildest dreams."

The 49-year-old from West Lothian sang before and after the Pope's sermon this afternoon. Former Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus also performed.

Susan Boyle has secured three entries in the Guinness World Records book, following the success of her debut album I Dreamed A Dream.

The album, which topped the UK chart on its release last November, has won the 'fastest-selling debut album by a UK female' and 'the best first-week sales of a UK debut album' accolades.

Boyle, 49, has also been named the 'oldest person to reach number one with a debut album'.

The singer, from West Lothian, Scotland, said that the titles were "a real honour", adding: "I used to read this book as a wee girl. I never dreamt that one day I would actually appear in the Guinness Book Of Records.

"I only ever wanted to sing and perform. This is truly fantastic."

The Britain's Got Talent star has become the first female artist to ever simultaneously hold both the US and UK number one spots twice in under 12 months, The Sun reports.

After reaching the top spot with I Dreamed A Dream, Boyle's latest achievement makes her the third act in history to secure the feat.

The Gift has also been named the fastest-selling holiday album in both the UK and US since records began.

Susan Boyle is to star in a stage musical of her own life, it has been reported.

The 'Perfect Day' singer said that she is excited to be appearing in the project, which tells the entire story of Boyle's life from her early years growing up in Blackburn, West Lothian, to her breakthrough performance on Britain's Got Talent and beyond.

The 49-year-old said: "I'm definitely going to be on stage. I'd rather that than having to sit watching people up there looking like me.

"I want to be doing the music parts, so I'll be coming in and out of the show. I'm looking forward to doing some live work. It'll be really nice to see so many of the people who have supported me in person."

An insider also told The Sun: "Susan has incredibly loyal fans. People will be travelling from all over the world to see her perform in her own musical. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them book tickets to watch it five nights in a row."

The production is expected to go on a UK nationwide tour next year.
