While Denise is at the Car Lot, Darren turns up and she starts moaning at him about asking for Owen's permission to marry Libby. Annoyed by all the hassle, Darren slouches into his chair and finds a load of missed calls from Libby. Over at The Vic, Chelsea and Amira walk in and after cross words with Chelsea, Darren leaves. Having ignored Libby for most of the day, Darren finally answers his phone and he suggests that she speak to her mum as Denise is going out of her mind. Darren heads over to see Denise and stands up to her, much to the shock of Lucas, Chelsea and Patrick.

Back at home, Manda and Dr Al stop by to see Heather and baby George. Shirley walks in with a second-hand cot and claims to have sorted Heather's shifts at the Launderette. Later, Heather's asleep and when baby George starts crying, Shirley hesitantly picks him up and he settles down. With that, Shirley tells George that she'll always be there for him.

Meanwhile, Syed's forced to hide the 'Bad Boy' blackmail note when Zainab walks into the room. Tamwar then enters, prompting Zainab to vent about someone spiking his drink the previous night. With Tamwar at the café, Syed leaves his brother a message on his phone claiming that they need to talk. At Christian's flat, Syed hands over the 'Bad Boy' note but Christian laughs it off. Syed thinks Tamwar sent it but Christian disagrees. Lucy points Tamwar out to Syed who's looking for his brother, convinced he knows about Christian. Tamwar quickly leaves when Zainab starts moaning about her 'alcoholic son'. Later in the café, Tamwar realises that Lucy was the one who spiked his drink.

At the Masala Queen unit, Syed tells Christian that he has to tell Amira about them, just as Amira enters with Tamwar. Amira says: "She already knows."

Elsewhere, Lucas tells Libby that Owen deserves a second chance but she should also consider Deinse's feelings; Janine spies on Archie and Jack; Ian returns from America; Denise tells Libby that she wants to see Darren; Janine warns Archie about Jack; Ian finds an adoption leaflet and asks Lucy to take Bobby out for a while; Libby tells Denise that she wants both her and Owen to attend her wedding, but Denise insists if that's the case, she won't be going; Ryan mocks Janine and points out that she's losing her grip on the situation; Patrick suggests that Denise listen to what Owen has to say for himself; and Libby's pleased when Denise agrees to meet with Owen.

Standing in front of Syed at the Masala Queen unit, Amira demands that Syed be honest, before asking Christian to leave. Thinking that Amira knows the truth about him and Chrsitian, Syed starts to apologise until Amira reveals that she's talking about the fact Syed embezzled a load of money from her family. Syed admits that he was at an all-time low and before Amira heads off to work, she says that they're sharing everything. On the Square, Syed confronts Tamwar over why he told Amira about his shady past and Tamwar insists that he's fed up of his older brother being the favourite son. Syed then receives a mystery text and when he calls the number back, he looks across the street and sees Ian answer.

Later in the café, Syed receives another text message after seeing Ian fiddling with his phone. Syed confronts the café owner, but an inebriated Ian waffles on about Jane. Misreading the situation, Syed presumes by Ian's insinuation that Christian is the one sending the texts. Christian, however, turns up at the café and is confronted by Syed. Syed receives another text, though, with Christian sat right in front of him. Syed's further perplexed by the sender's identity.

Meanwhile, Denise is fretting about meeting Owen. Lucas attempts to calm her down but she can only think of the bad things that happened to Libby. Their meeting doesn't go too well and results in Denise asking Owen to leave her family alone. Owen asks her to meet in the park again later, but she refuses. Lucas then turns up and introduces himself. Denise confides in Lucas that she wants to forgive Owen but isn't sure that he'll ever change. She soon relents and heads to the park to see Owen. When she turns up, a heavy-looking man arrives, too. With that, Denise has second thoughts. Later, Owen introduces the man 'Frankie' to his daughter Libby.

Later, Denise is rushing around looking for Libby and when Ricky mentions that he saw her earlier with two men, Denise panics. Denise eventually finds Libby in the café and Libby explains that Frankie is Owen's AA sponsor. Denise agrees to meet Owen again and is pleased to hear that he's stopped drinking. They reminisce about good times, but the conversation turns when Denise mentions Owen's abusive nature. Owen says he regrets his actions but Denise leaves. Returning home, Denise tells Lucas that she'll struggle to forgive Owen for all he's done.

Elsewhere, Jack invites Sam out on a date; with the adoption leaflet in hand, Ian calls Jane and suggests a romantic meal; Sam goes to The Vic to get ready for her romantic meal with Ricky; Ian and Jane discuss the future and Ian hands over an envelope to his wife; Ricky has no idea how to cook pheasant; Jane tells Ian that she wants to adopt; Christian confides in Lucy about his dilemma, without mentioning Syed's name; Ian tells Jane that they can't afford another child; Lucy looks coyly at her phone; and Jane tells Ian that she's signed them both up to a pre-adoption course.

Ricky turns up at Janine's flat with a birthday present and mystery card for his sister. When Ricky leaves, Janine emerges from her room, insisting that she doesn't do birthdays. Janine opens the card and smiles, seemingly cheered up by the message inside. Ryan sneakily looks inside and asks how Archie knew it was her birthday. Ronnie calls, offering Ryan a shift at The Vic and even though Ronnie hangs up, he continues to 'flirt with Ronnie' to make Janine jealous. At the Car Lot, Janine flirts with Archie and insists that she's still interested in taking The Vic from the Mitchells, but their conversation is put on hold by Jack's arrival. Archie then teases her about her birthday present.

At the flat, Janine and Ryan set challenges - even though they clearly fancy each other, Janine has to sleep with Archie and Ryan has to sleep with Ronnie. Archie, meanwhile, talks with Jack and it's suggested that Jack run away with Sam to cause the Mitchell's financial strife. Jack, however, isn't made up about the idea but agrees to try. Jack attempts to lure Sam out on a date again but she declines as it's Janine's birthday. Returning to Archie, Jack insists that he can't go through with the plan. Archie, however, tells him again to get on with it. Later in The Vic, Jack manages to change Sam's mind about going to Janine's birthday drinks.

As Sam preens herself upstairs in The Vic, Jack offers Ricky some advice on women. Jack and Sam soon end up in bed together ignoring their phones, while Ricky sits alone in the pub.

Meanwhile, Syed and Christian discuss the mystery text messages in the café. Lucy's working in there and is fiddling with her phone, just as Syed receives another message. Lucy checks her phone again later and mutters, 'Fine, if that's how you want to play it'. She then responds and sends a message back, demanding £300. Christian, however, suggests that Syed calls the blackmailer's bluff…

Elsewhere, Libby tells Denise that she's made up that she gave Owen another chance; Ronnie tells Ryan to back off and steer well clear; and Lucas spots a photo of Trina on the side stand.

Lucas bumps into Owen outside the Minute Mart and reminds him that although Libby's cooking them all lunch, not to expect anything more than that. Owen later tells his mother that his stay in Walford's not working out as he'd expected but he's managed to broker peace with Libby and at least speak to Denise. Liz, however, suggests that Owen shouldn't be intimidated by Lucas and commends him for dealing with a difficult situation in a calm and adult manner. Meanwhile, Libby excitedly prepares for dinner and while Denise asks Chelsea to be civil with Owen, Lucas reassures them that Owen won't be a permanent fixture. Owen eventually turns up and over dinner, he proposes a toast to Libby's cooking skills. Denise and Owen then begin to reminisce about one of her cooking disasters, while Lucas watches on seething at the connection Denise has with her ex.

Afterwards, Libby returns to Oxford and Denise congratulates Owen on his new job at Earls Court. Lucas then asks Owen to go for a walk with him. Frustrated by Owen's presence in his family's lives, Lucas tells him that he can't be trusted, before punching him in the stomach and instructing him to repent his sins. Spouting biblical quotes at Owen and claiming that Denise is now 'his', Lucas tells him to leave Walford for good and never return. Owen, however, manages to escape Lucas's clutches and turn the tables on his attacked, pinning the pastor against the wall. Owen's adamant that he's staying where he is and won't be driven away…

Meanwhile, Sam walks into Jack's bedroom with a breakfast tray and states that she loves his flat. She quickly reminds him, though, that she's engaged. Jack later answers a call from Archie and Jack answers his question with a simple 'yes', before agreeing to meet him later to discuss the finer details. As arranged, Jack meets with Archie and states that he wants nothing more to do with his plan to set up Sam. Archie, however, suggests he take the day to think about his decision. Ricky soon confronts Sam over the fact she was incommunicado the previous night but she lies that her phone's broken and that she went to meet an old school friend. Hearing Jack compare Bianca and Sam's bedroom antics, Jack cuts him short and it's the final straw when he sees Sam kiss Ricky. Later, Sam asks Jack if he wants to end their affair, but Jack insists that he's never been one to make a sensible decision, before kissing her.

Elsewhere, Syed tells Christian that he's not heard from their blackmailer but Lucy overhears their conversation; and Syed receives a text calling him a 'silly boy' and revealing that 'there's a letter in the post to mummy'.
