Thursday 15 October [1]

Vincent (Antony Byrne) arrives in the village early for his meeting with Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and waits for her at the pub. However, when Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) spots him and quips that Sally (Sian Reeves) is taking advantage of the Thomas’ good will by staying at Mulberry Cottage. Furios that Ashley (John Middleton) lied to him, Vincent storms over to Mulberry. As Douglas (Duncan Preston)does his best to try and shepherd Vincent out, Sally returns. As an argument breaks out between the estranged couple, Doug goes to find Ashley, who arrives back to find Vincent being very aggressive towards a vulnerable Sally. Laurel spots the commotion and races in behind her husband to witness an irate Vincent bearing down on his wife. Outnumbered and incensed, Vincent squares up to Ashley, leaving Laurel feeling terrible for doubting Sally. Was Sally telling the truth about Vincent?

Meanwhile, the impending dinner with her son’s new beau has Faye (Kim Thomson) on edge, so she goes to the Woolpack for a quick drink to settle her nerves. The conversation at the bar is quick to turn to Katie (Sammy Winward) and Ryan’s (James Sutton) blossoming romance and Bob (Tony Audenshaw) reveals a few of Katie’s skeletons to a concerned Faye. Later, after Katie receives a barrage of pointed questions from Faye over dinner, Katie soon becomes wise to her motives. Fed up of her prying, Katie angrily reels off details of her chequered past before making her excuses and leaving. Furious with his mother, Ryan follows in quick pursuit, leaving Faye clearly uncomfortable. Will Katie’s past spoil her future with Ryan?

Elsewhere in the village, Natasha (Amanda Donohoe) is livid with Mark (Maxwell Caulfield) for showing a vested interest in Katie’s meal with Ryan and Faye, biting that his focus should remain on his family closer to home. Taking Natasha’s comments on board, Mark tracks down Nathan (Lyndon Ogbourne) in the Woolpack. Offering him an olive branch Mark tells Nathan that he’s booked them a game of golf and that he would like him to come to a family dinner later on that evening. Thursday 15 October [2]

Vincent (Antony Byrne) lunges towards Ashley (John Middleton) sending him off balance. Regaining his composure, Ashley makes his own rush towards Vincent aiming to propel him out of the door. Confused by Sally’s (Sian Reeves) self-pity, Vincent refuses to leave without her and thumps Ashley on the nose. Playing the martyr, Sally claims that this is what she has had to put up with for years. Dejected and bemused at his wife’s comments, a beaten Vincent walks away, leaving Ashley consoling a weeping Sally on the doorstep. Feeling guilt-ridden Laurel confesses all to a furious Ashley in private, before admitting her actions to Doug (Duncan Preston) and Sally. The atmosphere is tense in the house as Sally appears on the stairs with her suitcase. Will Laurel apologise for her misjudgement and ask Sally to stay?
Meanwhile, as Katie (Sammy Winward) is attempting to justify her past to Ryan (James Sutton), Mark (Maxwell Caulfield) approaches them both, curious as to why they aren’t enjoying their dinner with Faye (Kim Thomson). Ryan explains that things didn’t quite go according to plan and on impulse, Mark heads over to Tenants Cottage. Mark questions a perplexed Faye on the evening’s antics and invites himself in for a drink. Sensing there is more to the visit than meets the eye, Faye uses the opportunity to get close and starts to talk about their early days together. Deep in conversation, Faye holds Mark’s gaze and for a moment, he takes her hand before pulling away. Faye continues to reel Mark in by telling him all about her and Ryan’s life together in his absence before he leaves. Is Mark starting to fall for Faye?

Elsewhere, Pollard (Chris Chittell) accepts a lead for a new cleaning contract from Nathan (Lyndon Ogbourne) on behalf of a reluctant David (Matthew Wolfenden). Dressed to the nines, Faye (Kim Thomson) is glad to have the excuse of paying Katie (Sammy Winward) a visit at Home Farm to apologise for her behaviour. Faye is pleased to see that her presence has clearly rattled both Nathan (Lyndon Ogbourne) and Natasha (Amanda Donohoe). Livid at Faye’s impromptu visit , Natasha later tells Mark (Maxwell Caulfield) that she was blatantly hoping to bump into him. Later Mark is thrown when he arrives to confront Faye and she answers the door looking stunning. Teasing that he can’t stay away, they both go inside and a pacing Mark lets his façade slip ranting that Faye has been using Cain (Jeff Hordley) to make him jealous. Coolly registering his torment, a moment passes between them before Faye shows Mark the door leaving him desperately fighting his feelings and her struggling to keep a check on her own emotions. Will Mark continue to play such a dangerous game?

Elsewhere, the Bishop (Peter Cartwright) pays Ashley (John Middleton) a visit to question his interference in Vincent (Antony Byrne) and Sally’s (Sian Reeves) marriage. He insists that he is not the person to be meddling in their relationship. Sally appears and is instructed by the Bishop to seek help by professionals. Under duress she agrees and Ashley is left infuriated that Sally is being forced to return to an unhappy marriage.

At the farm shop, David (Matthew Wolfenden) grudgingly agrees when Leyla (Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi) praises Nathan for securing him a lucrative cleaning contract. Moments later, Nathan interrupts them and David reluctantly thanks him for his efforts. Pleased to have the upper hand, Nathan offers to buy David a drink to celebrate but he awkwardly insists he's too busy to accept.

Nikhil (Rik Makarem) is furious at Jai’s (Christopher Bisson) underhand buy-out of their fathers business and hands in his notice

Also, Holly (Sophie Powles) finally agrees to go for a drink with Aaron (Danny Miller)

I thought Natasha was leaving, sure I read this a couple of months ago. Perhaps this will be her exit if Mark goes with Faye - what about the kids, do they stay with Mark or go with Natasha

I think I read she was unsure how long her contract would be extended for when her character had a romance with Tony Gordon.

I think you are in the wrong soap .. heardki is on about Natasha Wylde, who will not be having a romance with Tony Gordon, unless she moves from Emmerdale to Weatherfield or he moves from Weatherfield to Emmerdale

Over in Emmerdale Ashley Thomas (John Middleton) gets a smack in the face when Sally Spode's (Siân Reeves) husband Vincent (Antony Byrne) reappears in the village.

Turning up to meet Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), Vincent waits in The Woolpack for her and while he's there, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) lambasts him for his wife taking advantage of Ashley and Laurel's hospitality.

With that, Vincent storms around to Mulberry Cottage and finds Douglas (Duncan Preston) inside with Gabby (Annelise Manojlovic) and Arthur (Ben Vernon). Sally soon turns up and an argument ensues between husband and wife. As they bicker, Doug goes to fetch Ashley from the church and the pair rush back to the cottage.

On Ashley's arrival, he finds Vincent acting violently towards Sally and spotting the ruckus from across the way, Laurel rushes towards it in the hope of defusing their heightened argument.

Pushed to the edge, Vincent lunges at Sally but he ends up punching Ashley in the face. As Vincent rushes away, Sally breaks down in tears, while Laurel's left feeling guilty for not believing Sally's claims about Vincent.

Vincent Spode squares up to clergyman Ashley Thomas after a bust-up with his estranged missus.

Irate Vincent storms into Ashley’s home, Mulberry Cottage, demanding to see his wife Sally, who has been a guest there.

But realising she’s not in he storms out – just as she returns.

And it doesn’t take Vincent long to start verbally attacking Sally for leaving him.

Ashley has no choice but to insist Vincent gets out of his home.

But Vincent doesn’t appreciate Ashley’s involvement and attempts to fight him.

An Emmerdale insider said: “Ashley’s wife Laurel has spent the last few weeks doubting Sally’s tales of a troubled marriage.

“So when she witnesses first hand just how overbearing Vincent can be she feels awful.

“But there’s no denying that while Sally continues to live with Ashley and Laurel she is going to drive a wedge between them.

“There’s going to be three of them in the marriage for a little while yet.”
