Alexandra Burke has been approached as a last-minute replacement for Sugababes at the MOBO Awards, a report claims.

According to Metro, current bandmember Amelle Berrabah and axed singer Keisha Buchanan both pulled out of the ceremony due to respective fears that the other would attend.

It is thought that X Factor winner Burke will now fill the gap by flying in from the US hours before the ceremony on Wednesday. She is expected to take Buchanan's place by handing out an award.

A source said: "This will be her first official public appearance since the X Factor win."

Berrabah, who was expected to perform 'Never Leave You' with Tinchy Stryder at the event, reportedly had a number of rows with Buchanan before Sugababes announced their third lineup change last week.

Pop trio N-Dubz scooped two awards at the Mobos in Glasgow winning best UK act and best album.

But group JLS also picked up a pair of awards for best song and best newcomer.

Keri Hilson was awarded best R&B/soul act while best hip hop act was won by rapper Chipmunk who had had four nominations on the night.

Yolanda Brown won best jazz artist; best gospel act was Victizzle; best African went to Nneka while best DJ was won by Trevor Nelson.

Best international act and best video were won by Beyonce and Sean Paul was named best reggae artist.

Accepting the award for best song for "Beat again", JLS's Marvin Humes said: "The band's success would have been inconceivable just a year ago.

"I just want to say thank you to all our supporters who are here tonight."

"I never thought we would be here. I never thought we'd get nominated, and I never thought we would win two awards."

This year's ceremony paid tribute to Michael Jackson, with Latoya introducing her brother Jermaine who performed on stage in memory of their brother.

Jermaine said: "My brother was everything to me. He was a wonderful artist and a wonderful human being.

"I'm here to do what I can, it is part of our responsibility as a family to continue his legacy and keep it alive."

The awards were co-hosted by Radio 1's Reggie Yates and US R'n'B act Keri Hilson, with the winners chosen by public vote.

I wonder if the new sugababes may perform there now Kesiha is no longer in the group? It could be the ideal place for them to launch the new group line up

There was a lot on the radio here about Glasgow not being black enough to host the MOBOs, apparently it is also too far from London for some urban acts to perform.

What a lot of rot.

I know people who commute to work in London from Glasgow!
