If you found someone's wallet, would your first thought be to take it to a pub on the off chance the owner might be there?

eileen's new man jan not a good chap
Why can't they just do a normal storyline with Jan as a hard working immigrant who genuinely wants to make a better life for himself? Sadly, things like this do happen in real life but it's not a very positive portrayal of East Europeans.
....and why is it always Eileen, she's only just buried her last ex? (who turned out to be a serial killer)
Two questions...
1. Why did Peter not search the house instead of just accepting the squatter's word for it that Carla was no longer there? The way he was acting and behaving I think it is very unrealistic to think he would not have searched.
2. Why does Ken leave a bottle of whisky out in full view on his dresser with Peter living in the house?
Why are soaps so bad at stunts, the contrived bike crash with Jan and Mary was so badly done. Jan came round the corner and instead of steering round the van was pointing straight into the back of it then tried to miss it at the last moment. Instead of using the brakes and stopping he then swings out at the last minute and falls off, no lays the bike down and jumps off, while Mary throws her bouquet away and hurls herself into the back of the van instead of just talking a step back. The whole thing was contrived just to bring them together and let Moira have have a heart fluttering moment.
