Geoff scuppers Alya's plans to take Yasmeen for a massage, telling Yasmeen that Emma is not available to be his assistant for Tianna's birthday party later. He forces a reluctant and claustrophobic Yasmeen to rehearse his 'crushed in a box' trick.
When the trick doesn't go to plan at the party and Yasmeen panics, Geoff paints on a smile for the audience but makes it clear to Yasmeen that he is less than pleased.
Meanwhile, Maria explains to Liam she has lost the baby, but she is upset when Gary tells Liam he will have a brother or sister.
Elsewhere, the Book Club gathers in the Rovers. Steve and Tracy are bored stiff and when Steve quietly reveals he has booked a night at a posh hotel, they make their excuses and hurry out.
Also, a dishevelled Nina calls in the cafe. Roy is pleased to see her, while Carla is concerned.
Finally, Daniel is uneasy when he wakes up on the sofa to find Bethany asleep beside him, still in Sinead's dressing gown.

Geoff is furious with Yasmeen for making him a 'laughing stock' and when he discovers a video of the act going wrong has been uploaded and is online, he cruelly points a camera phone in her face, filming and goading her.
Geoff also has a go at Tim, who is surprised to see his dad can't see the funny side
Meanwhile, Ike calls in the furniture shop and begs Gary to lend him £300, explaining that he's desperate. Gary refuses and pushes him out of the shop. Gary assures Maria that he wants to be with her, baby or not. Maria is relieved.
Elsewhere, Steve and Tracy are disappointed to discover their posh hotel room is anything but posh. Steve and Tracy agree that tiptoeing round each other isn't working and it's time to be honest with each other. Will they see eye to eye?
Also, when Bethany reveals that she spent the night at Daniel's, Sarah warns her to tread very carefully as he's clearly still grieving for his wife. Daniel explains to Bethany that he's not ready for a relationship. Bethany assures him she's prepared to wait.
Finally, Nina calls at the cafe again and admits she's starving and short of money. Roy offers to help her out, but Nina refuses to take his money. At the same time, keen to see more of his daughter, Michael makes Grace promise to keep in regular touch.

Geoff continues to give Yasmeen a hard time, refusing to eat the breakfast she has made him and threatening to post videos of her online to show how 'pathetic' she is. He tells her has had some inquiries about his act and she can make amends by doing some rehearsals.
When Yasmeen gets in the box, Geoff gets his keys. Leaving her locked in the box, he heads out to the pub. Will a terrified Yasmeen get out of the box?
Meanwhile, Roy spots the fact that Nina has her big rucksack with her, but she disappears before he can quiz her further. Beth says that she caught Nina going through the factory bins. Roy is perplexed.
Elsewhere, when Ray asks Alya and Bethany to be extra nice to some investors, Bethany feels exploited and serves one of them with childish ice cream. Ray is quietly furious.
Also, Tim tries to worm his way back in with Sally by playing the track from their first wedding dance through the letterbox. Sally sends him away with a flea in his ear.

Geoff returns to find Tim with Yasmeen. He insists he left the box open, but Tim is not sure and Yasmeen tells Eileen that Geoff deliberately locked her in.
Eileen quizzes Brian and Cathy about Yasmeen's supposed drink problem. Fearing he is losing the upper hand, Geoff starts telling her about his ex-wife who abused him. Has he won her round again?
Meanwhile, Nina settles down in a doorway but is frightened off by a gang calling her names. Roy and Carla are worried to discover she moved out of her flat weeks ago. They are thrilled to find her at the cafe and she explains she has been homeless. She accepts his offer of the sofa to sleep on.
Elsewhere, Daniel has every faith in Bethany.
Also, Sally looks over Tim's divorce papers and is then bemused to find a mock-up wedding invitation, inviting her to her own wedding.

Hour-long episode
In this hour-long episode which marks the 10,000th episode of the world's longest-running soap opera, the residents of Coronation Street take a trip down memory lane as they head for Blackpool on a very special mission.
Rita is surprised when a parcel arrives containing Dennis's ashes and a note requesting she scatter them in Blackpool. Taking in the sad news of Dennis's death, she confides in Ken, who agrees to go with her.
Deciding a day trip is something everyone would enjoy, Jenny books a coach and invites lots of the residents to join them. Amy, Audrey, Carla, Eileen, Emma, Evelyn, Gail, Jenny, Ken, Mary, Nina, Sean, Tracy, Sally, Yasmeen and Rita, clutching Dennis's urn, set off for Blackpool.
The trip is not without incident, and as it starts to look as though they won't make it to Blackpool before nightfall, tensions rise.
By the end of the trip, lives will have changed and one resident realises the time has come to leave the cobbles for pastures new.

I wonder who will decide to leave at the end of the Friday episode? Bethany and Liz are due to leave fairly soon but they're not going on this coach trip. I was thinking it might be Rita, which would tie into her loneliness/depression storyline at Christmas?
Also, it looks like Yasmeen is going to Blackpool without Geoff which he won't be happy about...
It has been confirmed that Eileen wont be the one leaving - she will appear in scenes the week after which she her competing with Alina for a job at Underworld.
I am actually starting to doubt that the exit will be permanent, or even happen at all, potentially someone will consider leaving but ultimately change their mind.
emerald (02-02-2020)
Out of that list of characters Sean, Mary or Rita look the most likely to consider leaving. Everyone else is either in a relationship so won't consider leaving alone, or else they're involved in a storyline right now (Evelyn for example)
Or it could be a completely different character, someone who isn't on the coach trip at all...
I think it is Bethany that realises there is nothing holding her in Weatherfield ...
why does bethany not give daniel space instead of stalking him
Brucie (07-02-2020)
did they even make it to blackpool, anyone else expecting alan ghost and a tram
why did rita give amy her rings instead of jenny sally or even gemma
