Coronation Street is lining up a love interest for Gemma Winter – but she'll get a shock when she realises who he really is.

Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) is about to fall head over heels for her posh new boyfriend – completely unaware of just how posh he really is.

When an excited Gemma starts to introduce him to her Weatherfield friends, she gets a big surprise when Liz McDonald recognises him.

The Daily Star reports that Gemma will be thrown when Liz informs her that her beau is actually Cecil Newton's grandson – meaning he'll be heir to the Newton and Ridley fortune.

Long-term Corrie viewers may remember Cecil from his reoccurring appearances between 1987 and 2003.

Cecil was one of the top directors of brewery Newton & Ridley, and his authority within the company meant he had the final say in their operations – even after he retired.

Fans will have to wait and see if Gemma's budding new romance with Cecil's grandson goes the distance, but it certainly looks like things are looking up for her at last.

Coronation Street pays homage to Cinderella next week as a new romantic storyline begins for Gemma Winter.

Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) has never been too lucky in love, but that could all be about to change when she impulsively decides to crash a posh house party.

Never shy around strangers, Gemma quickly makes her presence felt at the gathering and is delighted when she gets chatted up by charming newcomer Henry Newton (George Banks).

These new pictures show Gemma and Henry looking very cosy as they get to know each other better, but their time together is cruelly cut short when the police raid the party.

Deciding it's time to get straight out of there, Gemma quickly does a runner but accidentally leaves behind her sparkly shoe, giving her an unexpected Cinderella moment.

Henry is Corrie's answer to Prince Charming as he picks up the shoe and is clearly gutted over Gemma's departure, but we have a sneaking suspicion that it won't be the last time they see each other.

News of Gemma's romance plot first leaked in the papers two months ago, when it was revealed that she'd ultimately introduce the Street's residents to her posh new boyfriend.

Henry is the grandson of past Corrie character Cecil Newton and is the heir to the Newton & Ridley brewery fortune, so does this mean that things are looking up for Gemma at last?

Coronation Street will air fresh heartbreak for Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) next week as she discovers just who her new boyfriend really is.

The ITV soap is kicking off Gemma's romantic storyline this week by paying homage to Cinderella, but as always in Soapland, her new-found happiness won't be lasting long.

Upcoming scenes will see Gemma immediately hit it off with Henry when they meet at a party, but their time together is cruelly cut short when the police raid the place.

A Cinderella moment soon follows when Gemma leaves her shoe behind – leaving her Prince Charming (aka Henry) unsure whether he will see her again.

Thankfully, the pair are reunited next week (surprise surprise!), after Henry calls into the Kabin in a bid to find 'Jemima' following their previous encounter.

With Norris's help, Henry finds Gemma in the Rovers and leaves her thrilled by promising that he'll be in touch again.

With Gemma on cloud nine at the prospect of a new romance with Henry, Liz inadvertently unsettles her by commenting that she's certainly landed on her feet given his fortune.

Gemma is stunned to learn from Liz that Henry is the grandson of past Corrie character Cecil Newton and is the heir to the Newton & Ridley brewery fortune.

Viewers were shocked when last Friday's Corrie double bill revealed that Henry is only dating Gemma for a bet, despite early hopes that Gemma could have finally found her Mr Right.

In next week's episodes, Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) is still oblivious to Henry's ulterior motive as she goes to great effort to plan a birthday party for him.

Gemma throws a surprise Newton & Ridley-themed gathering for Henry at the Rovers Return, which is a nod to the pub's long history with the brewery.

When the scenes air, viewers are sure to speculate over whether Henry could grow to like Gemma for real, despite his original nasty intentions.

Could Gemma's kind gesture lead to Henry seeing her in a whole new light, or will he continue to use her as a pawn in his shameful bet?
