Ronnie begins to panic about the insurance

Airs on Monday, May 10 2010 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Following the fire damage at R&R, Billy bolts for cover when he sees Ronnie, while Max informs Jack about the incident - and they're both surprised as to why Ronnie didn't mention it. Later, Ronnie stops by the hospital where Jack asks if she started the fire herself in the hope of cashing in on the insurance. They're soon distracted when they receive the news that Jack's secured a place at the private clinic. Later, Roxy tries to reassure her sister over the club's finances and is about to offer help when Danny wanders in. With Ronnie soon out of the way, Danny sets to work convincing Roxy that she shouldn't be helping her sister with money.

Max is frustrated when Darren insinuates that Ronnie probably started the fire on purpose. While Darren learns that Billy carried out electrical work in the club on the night of the fire, Max confronts Ronnie about the incident. Ronnie insists that the electronics weren't fixed by anybody, prompting Max to agree to sort out the insurance. Roxy overhears Max on the phone to the insurers and reveals that Ronnie did have someone in to fix the electrics. At that moment, Max receives a text from Darren about the fire - he knows who started it. Stunned that Ronnie would hire Billy for large-scale electrical work, Max and Darren presume that she paid him to torch the club instead. Billy denies setting fire to R&R but admits that he did change a circuit board.

Armed with the evidence he needs, Max tracks down Ronnie and firmly states that if the insurance company discover that Billy tampered with the electrics, they won't pay out - and Jack will lose the club and his place at the clinic.

Meanwhile, Zainab's cooking Syed's favourite meal but Tamwar's disappointed when he realises that it's not for his brother, it's for Bushra and her husband Nadim. The dinner goes well and Masood's delighted when Nadim invites him to mosque, while Zainab's put out to learn that she's been snubbed for a friend's wedding due to recent events. Ignoring Syed in the café, Masood walks out with a concerned Jane in tow. Masood's frosty with her, which leads Jane to admit that, with hindsight, she should have told him about Syed and Christian before the wedding. Back at home, Tamwar's becoming further frustrated with his mother's bossy ways and turns to Syed for advice. Upset about the family situation, Tamwar scans the family photo and cuts out Syed and Amira, before revealing to Zainab that he's no longer working at Masala Queen.

Elsewhere, Ben steals a bottle of whiskey from The Vic in a bid to prove himself to Jordan and Abi; Heather suggests that she and Billy pay their rent with the money he received from Ronnie; Ian tries to prevent Jane from finding out about Lucy's abortion and lies that her book club has cancelled; Billy's defensive when a suspicious Heather asks if he'll be getting any more work from Ronnie; and determined to keep Lucy's secret just that, Ian books Jane a ticket to see her mother in Florida.

Masood reminds Jane about their kiss

Airs on Tuesday, May 11 2010 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Frustrated by the state of his family, Masood heads to the café where it's evident that there's still tension between with Jane, too. Before long, the pair settle down for a heart-to-heart. Masood admits that he's missed their friendship, before expressing his sadness over his family woes. Resolving to make amends with Zainab, Masood heads home where they hug, but she refuses to talk about Syed. The mood changes, though, when Lucas asks if they'll cater for Lucas's bhangra workshop at the community centre. Zainab's put out when Masood asks Jane for help, insisting that there's no reason why they can't work with her and Ian - after all, they're their business partners.

Having seen Masood laughing and joking at the community centre, Zainab flees and later breaks down, confiding in her husband about what she saw. Masood tries to allay her fears and suggests that she's reading way too much into their friendship - and that she's simply just trying to split up their business relationship with the Beales. Masood later finds an emotional Jane in the Square and they discuss their respective family problems. With that, Masood takes Jane by the hand and reminds her about their kiss, before announcing that he wants to go to America with her…

Meanwhile, Ronnie breathes a sigh of relief when the insurance man finally leaves the club. Calling Jack, she reveals that the claim will be absolutely fine. They're shocked when Max reveals that as the insurers put the fire down to faulty electronics, they'll only have a valid claim if they can prove they hired a qualified electrician - or someone who claimed to be qualified.

Elsewhere, Syed and Tamwar discuss the family problems; Syed asks Janine for a job at the bookies but she declines; Peter's still furious with Lucy and Ian for not telling Jane about the abortion; Ben takes the bottle of whiskey they stole from The Vic to the puppetry workshop; Syed turns to Mr Lister in the hope he'll agree to a mobile phone stall on the market; Lucy worries that Peter will tell Jane the truth, while Ian worries why she's so reluctant to go to Florida; Jordan's surprised when he sees that Ben has a bottle of alcohol in his bag; Tamwar breaks down and admits to Syed that he misses him; Ian's relieved to find Jane packing for America following a chat with Lucy; Jordan takes the blame when Lucas catches him and Ben swigging from the bottle of whiskey; and Roxy scuppers Syed's chances for a pitch on the market.

    Syed tries to commit suicide

Airs on Thursday, May 13 2010 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Syed turns up at the mosque, much to the shock of the men inside. Two males block his path but Bushra's husband Nadim demands that they step aside and let them through. Inside, Syed prays but is unsettled by the looks he's getting from the other men. Nadim apologises for the others' behaviour but subtly hints that he should find a different mosque. Downbeat by the suggestion, Syed heads home and sees that Tamwar's sent him some money and a photo of them both when they were younger. At the end of his tether, Syed goes to the Minute Mart and buys a bottle of vodka. Across the Square, Masood sees the family photo Tamwar edited the previous day. He's distracted, though, when Zainab claims that she still intends to see their solicitor about Masala Queen and their business relationship with the Beales. Seething, Masood smashes the picture in rage.

Meanwhile, Roxy struggles to reconnect with Christian following his recent ordeal and decides that the only way she can sort his life out is by visiting Syed. Turning up at his flat, Roxy's surprised to find Syed drinking. Syed's taken aback by Roxy's motives for visiting - instead of trying to negotiate peace with Christian, she asks him to leave
Walford. Furious at her suggestion, Syed throws Roxy out, before taking some pills and swilling them down with vodka. When Christian hears of Roxy's visit to Syed, he rushes to see if he's okay. Tamwar, meanwhile, attempts to bring a sense of calm to the household, but he's puzzled by his mother's icy reaction when she sees Masood packing to leave.

The reality of the situation soon hits home for Zainab who begins to have a panic attack, while Tamwar breaks down in tears. As Masood's about to walk out, Zainab cries out for him to stay, before proclaiming her love for him. At that moment, imam Ali arrives to inform them of Syed's run-in with the men at mosque earlier in the day. Worried about his son, Masood rushes to Syed's flat to check on him. Inside, Masood finds Syed on his back with vomit around his mouth. With no phone in the flat, Masood's forced to drag him out onto the street in the hope that somebody will help. Mid-argument with Peter, Ian wanders out to see Masood struggling with Syed. Spurred into action, Ian bolts for his car to transport them to the hospital.

As Ian and Masood discuss their family lives, Zainab turns up with Tamwar and baby Kamil. She doesn't react too kindly on hearing that Syed had been drinking, but Masood insists that he'll stand by his son no matter what. Having spoken to the doctors, Tamwar reveals that Syed will be okay and that there's no lasting damage. Masood's relieved by the prognosis and agrees that he'll move home with Syed, too. Zainab reluctantly nods but her smile turns to a frown when she sees Syed's phone ringing - it's Christian. Syed wakes momentarily and sees Zainab next to him. Staring with disgust, Zainab venomously whispers that she wishes Syed was dead. Unbeknown to her, though, Masood and Tamwar have heard her…

Elsewhere, Jane reads a letter from Bobby, begging her not to go away; Jane rejects Masoods' offer to leave for America with her; Peter's still upset with Lucy for sending Jane to Florida without telling her the truth about the abortion; and Ian confides in Lucy that he'll get Jane a baby.

Zainab sets fire to Syed's belongings

Airs on Friday, May 14 2010 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Masood's seething, having heard Zainab wish that their son Syed had died. Ordering Zainab out of the hospital, Masood tries to comfort Syed, before heading back to the Square himself. At the house, Zainab protests her concern about what Bushra will think of Syed's drinking and lambastes Masood for suggesting that they stand by Syed after all that's happened. Sticking the knife in further, Zainab goes on to suggest that Masood's the reason Syed's gay, having abandoned him all those years ago. Sticking by his guns, Masood's firm - Syed's will return home when he's been discharged from hospital. As Masood returns to the hospital, Zainab frantically begins throwing all of Syed's belongings into black bin liners.

Later, having heard that Syed's been hospitalised, Christian rushes to the hospital. Hearing Syed and Tamwar having a laugh together, Christian resolves not to go inside. On the Square, Christian sees Zainab throwing Syed's belongings onto the street, prompting him to confront her. After humiliating Zainab in public, Christian heads out for the evening with his new friend Alex. Masood arrives to take a reluctant Syed home. As they turn up, Syed's upset to see Christian with Alex. His evening, however, takes a further turn for the worse when he sees Zainab setting fire to his belongings…

Meanwhile, Billy's happy on hearing the news that Honey is ready to leave the hospital. Ronnie, however, is unsure whether to frame Billy for the fire damage at the club but Ronnie's adamant that she wants Jack at the private clinic as soon as humanly possible. Visiting Billy, she reveals that she needs to give the insurers the name of the person responsible for the electrical repairs, before trying to bribe him with a job afterwards. Billy, however, suggests that she's following in Archie's footsteps. Later, a guilt-ridden Ronnie decidedly rips up the insurance papers. Billy's delighted when Ian hands him his job back on the stall but is concerned when he discovers that he'll have to send Honey more maintenance money. Desperate for more cash, Billy reaches for his stash of drugs.

Elsewhere, Roxy's surprised to hear from Max that Ronnie and Jack are having financial problems; Jordan insists that Ben owes him for lying to Lucas about the whiskey; Christian's cold with Roxy following their argument but insists that he's over Syed; Ronnie turns up at the hospital to find that Jack's not there; Phil's concerned when Ben reveals that he's had a fight with Jordan; Roxy reveals that she's paid for Jack's treatment in the private clinic; Ian's thoughtful as he ponders what would have been Kathy's 60th birthday; Ronnie offers to work a shift in The Vic to show her appreciation to Roxy; Roxy challenges Christian to prove that he's over Syed when a good-looking man called Alex wanders into the pub; Ben threatens Louise again if she dares reveal the truth to Phil; and Ronnie confronts Danny, who produces a statement showing that Roxy is £200 in credit.

There's something seriously the matter with Zainab - wishing Syed dead and burning his clothes. She sounds more like a betrayed lover than mother.

At least one of Syed's parents is glad he is alive.
