Christine Tremarco has joined the cast of ITV?s Emmerdale and is due to make her debut on screen later this month.

Christine will be playing the character of Rose, who is known to Kim Tate?s husband, Will, played by Dean Andrews.

Bolshy and boisterous, Rose has recently been living in Benidorm and her arrival is sure to cause a stir when Will fails to mention her to Kim, played by Claire King.

Emmerdale kicks off a big new storyline for Will Taylor and Kim Tate next week. Will finds himself keeping secrets from his wife after meeting up with a face from his past.

Next week's episodes open with Will and Kim trying to keep the peace at Home Farm following Billy Fletcher's decision to restart his personal training business.

As Billy has less time on his hands, Will and Kim agree that they'll help him out with his childcare commitments more often.

Shortly afterwards, Will mysteriously slips off following an unexpected phone call.

Will turns up at the hospital and knows exactly what room to enter when he recognises a familiar voice.

Newcomer Rose is chatting to the nurses, until Will pops in for a chat.

Later, when Will returns home, Kim has questions over where he has been. Will stays quiet, clearly determined to keep Rose a secret from Kim.

Last week, Emmerdale bosses announced that former Casualty and Waterloo Road star Christine Tremarco had been cast in the role of Rose.

Billed as "bolshy and boisterous", Rose has arrived in town following time away living in Benidorm.

Christine commented: "I am thrilled to be joining Emmerdale. To be working with such a wonderful cast and crew along with the brilliant writing and production team is an absolute joy. Rose is so much fun to play. She is free spirited, boisterous and totally mischievous with a steely edge and a big heart."

Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw added: "We are massively delighted to welcome Christine Tremarco to the Emmerdale family. Christine brings a wealth of experience and talent and playing the character of Rose, a true free spirit with an exuberant outlook on life, she certainly promises to cause a real storm for some of our villagers."

Emmerdale has hinted at newcomer Rose Jackson having a secret agenda for reconnecting with daughter Dawn.

Rose had a seemingly chance reunion with her ex-husband Will Taylor at the hospital a few weeks ago, decades after walking out on her family when Dawn was young girl.

Dawn was initially resistant to getting to know her mum, but has started to lean on her for support following baby son Evan's leukaemia diagnosis.

In Wednesday's special 10,000th episode of Emmerdale, Will and Kim were discussing Rose taking on an increasingly active role at Home Farm.

While Will admitted he was impressed by Rose's rapport with the children, Kim pointed out that they still had good reason to be suspicious.

"She looked after the kids for one day and wasn't drunk," Kim sneered. "Oh yeah, it's like she's out of a fairytale."

Will suspected that Kim might be jealous of Rose stealing her thunder as "the fun one" with the grandkids, though Kim played it off like nothing could be further from the truth.

"I don't do jealousy," Kim insisted. "And she's not the fun one."

Kim's rapport with the kids was suddenly put to the test, as she was coerced into helping Isaac Dingle look for his missing lamb.

The soap then cut to an intriguing scene in the Woolpack where Rose was huddled in a corner whispering to someone on the phone.

She bragged about how she'd been making progress in getting closer to the kids, then said: "They're starting to accept me, but let's take our time on this. No point in rushing."

There will be more suspicious scenes to come when Ethan Anderson observes Rose in a secretive conversation with Ruby Fox-Miligan, though his recent health woes may prevent him from filling Dawn in.
