Neighbours has addressed the recasting of Nell Rebecchi and Hugo Somers ahead of its big return.

While plenty of cast members are coming back for the Australian soap's revival on Amazon Freevee, producers have taken the opportunity to recast Toadie's kids.

In a photo shared on the official Neighbours Instagram account, we get an introduction to the new actors. The snap shows them alongside Toadie actor Ryan Moloney, with the caption reading: "With new episodes of #Neighbours jumping two years ahead, our Nelly and Hugo have grown up too.

"Introducing the wonderful Ayisha Salem-Towner & Tanner Ellis-Anderson who we know you will fall in love with in just two weeks time!"

Nell and Hugo aren't the only characters who have been recast, as former Big Brother Australia contestant Xavier Molyneux will be playing Byron Stone instead of Joe Klocek for a storyline involving a romance with a new character played by The OC's Mischa Barton.

"We're very excited to announce that Xavier Molyneux will be taking on the role of Byron Stone," a tweet read.

"The son of Jane Harris, Byron will be thrust into the heart of the Ramsay Street drama when Neighbours returns this September."

Another new character, Haz Devkar, will have a romance story with Mackenzie Hargreaves, while Jane Harris and Mike Young's recently rekindled relationship might be hitting the rocks in the new episodes (which makes sense, as Guy Pearce is coming back only for a short stint).

Neighbours returns on September 18, with new episodes streaming Mondays - Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. Network 10 will retain first-run rights in Australia for the new series.

Neighbours schoolgirl Nell Rebecchi has resumed her ruthless plan to sabotage her father Toadie's new marriage.

Nell is refusing to accept Toadie's decision to tie the knot with Terese Willis, still believing that they're not right for each other.

Last week, Terese discovered that Nell had been leaving out significant reminders of Toadie's ex-wife Melanie Pearson to unsettle the newlyweds.

Terese agreed to keep quiet about the revelation, but she hoped that Nell would return the favour by putting a stop to her game-playing.

In Wednesday's visit to Ramsay Street, Terese continued to make an effort with Nell and was pleased when this seemed to be working.

This coincided with another milestone day for the Rebecchi family, as Toadie officially sold his old home of Number 30 to the Varga-Murphys.

The house sale brought back memories of Toadie's late wife Sonya, as the Ramsay Street favourite reflected on how he'd expected Number 30 to be their family's "forever home".

Toadie and Nell also paid a visit to Sonya's mural, wanting to feel close to her at such an important moment.

Nell's thoughts turned back to Melanie when she discovered that Toadie was still in possession of her goodbye note.

Toadie had previously claimed to have disposed of the letter, so Nell used this situation to her advantage as she cleverly engineered a situation for Terese to find it.

Quick to draw attention to the letter, Nell 'innocently' asked: "I thought dad burned it or something?"

Clearly unhappy, Terese replied: "So did I. I mean, he told me he had?"

Could there be trouble in paradise for Toadie and Terese already?

Last month, Toadie recalled details of Melanie's sudden departure, including how she'd walked out on their family because she didn't feel comfortable as a stepmum to Nell and Hugo.

With Melanie due to return to Ramsay Street later in the season, some fans have speculated that there's more to her departure than meets the eye.

"Never say never, okay. He will chew on a bone until nothing is left," he began. "As will be revealed, he's been up to no good. Something quite devastating happened to him, which put him on a collision course with oblivion."

"It's nothing like what you think," he previously said about the storyline. "The one thing that we can tell you is that even though it looks like Paul was being his typical ruthless self, and a selfish person by shunning Terese at the altar ? he actually did it for Terese."

Over the past few weeks, Nell has caused trouble for Toadie's new wife Terese by making her feel unwelcome in the family.

Neighbours aired sad scenes for Nell and Hugo Rebecchi on Thursday as they finally discovered the truth about Melanie Pearson's departure from Erinsborough.

Nell expressed regret over her treatment of her new stepmum Terese after learning the real reason that Melanie walked out on the Rebecchis.

Fan favourite Toadie Rebecchi decided that it was time to be honest with his children following the revelation that Nell has been trying to sabotage his marriage to Terese.

Nell had even sent a desperate message to Melanie, begging her to return to Erinsborough to reunite with Toadie.

With Nell's unease out in the open, the troubled schoolgirl was forced to come clean to Toadie about all of her recent scheming.

Terese urged Toadie to go easy on Nell, pointing out how much she was struggling.

After giving the situation some thought, Toadie told Nell about the letter that Melanie wrote before she fled from Erinsborough.

Toadie explained: "There was a reason I didn't let you read it. She didn't just have a change of heart about being married to me ? she decided that she wasn't cut out to be a stepmum to you and Hugo.

"She's been a stepmum before, so it's not like she didn't have anything to base it on. I never wanted you to know, because I knew how much it would hurt you. Melanie is gone and I'm glad, because I hate how much she has hurt all of us."

Toadie also spoke separately to Hugo and was saddened when the young boy started to blame himself for Melanie's departure.

In the fallout, Nell finally accepted that Mel has gone for good, leading to a thaw in relations between her and Terese.

With Melanie due to return to Neighbours later this year, it's only a matter of time before we hear her side of the story.

It?s great that they aged the character , but NELLY lacks any depth.

Its 100% all about MELANIE. Has been since day 1 of the reboot.

Melanie returned to Erinsborough in Neighbours' recent Flashback Week, which explained why she'd walked out on her marriage to Toadie so abruptly.

More recently, Melanie was injured during the Erinsborough High school protest and Terese arranged for her to move in with Karl and Susan Kennedy while she recovers.

Next week, Toadie's daughter Nell is centre of attention as she celebrates her 15th birthday.

Terese has been worried that Nell won't like the custom wrestling T-shirt she had made for her, fearing that it looks impersonal compared to Melanie's present.

Prior to the big day, Melanie gifts Nell with a framed ticket of her favourite wrestling match, which goes down brilliantly.

Fortunately, Terese is relieved when Nell loves her gift just as much, which cements the pair growing closer.

The celebratory mood turns sour when a power outage strikes Ramsay Street, which ruins plans for Nell's party.

Nell's loved ones hastily arrange a change of venue, but this causes unexpected contact between Toadie, Terese and Melanie.

This comes just a few days after Toadie has been reminiscing about his wedding to Melanie, which brings up powerful memories from the past.

Can the trio put their awkwardness aside for Nell's sake, or will we see more hints of trouble for Toadie and Terese's marriage?

I think we all know that TOADIE wont be able to fight his feelings for MELANIE forever. Same with TERESE and PAUL. Only question is - who cheats first????
