Casualty is getting ready for a bit of a shake-up in the coming weeks due to Wimbledon airing on the BBC.

Fans of BBC One's long-standing medical drama will have to wait patiently to get the chance to enjoy the next episodes. Of course, the disruption is only temporary, but it will affect the second weekend of July.

Casualty won't be on in its usual slot on Saturday, July 8, with a recap of the day's action from Wimbledon airing in its place from 9.15pm instead.

In upcoming scenes, the medical drama will treat viewers to some huge twists, including a dramatic resolution to newcomer Jodie and Max Cristie's rumoured affair.

After weeks of speculation circulating the hospital, Jodie feels pushed to breaking point, ultimately deciding to resign.

Max's attempts to change her mind amount to very little as she chooses not to be defined by him. But the truth is more complicated than it seems, as Max insists Jodie told everyone what is really going on between them.

Viewers previously learned Jodie is Max's estranged daughter. She made it very clear she wants nothing to do with him, but the tension at work was palpable and led to people talking, assuming the romantic nature of their relationship.

So much, in fact, that Max is to receive a warning from Dylan, who reminds him to keep his personal and private life separate.

Speaking with Digital Spy about the father-daughter dysfunctional dynamic, Jodie actress Anna Chell said there's more to be explored.

"Max and Jodie navigate their way through work battling a huge mix of emotions/feelings. There?s so much under the surface that hasn't been addressed," she said.

"Deep down she longs for a father figure to look after her, but is her ego too big to let him in? Is she too hurt? Does she know the history of Max and her mum?"

These questions will be answered in due course, just not during Wimbledon.
