    Casualty 12/13 Sept Spoilers

    Saturday 12 September
    8.10-9.00pm BBC ONE

It is Adam's first day as clinical lead and he's determined to continue the legacy of success left by Jordan, as a new series of the popular medical drama begins. Eight new juniors arrive and Adam jumps at the chance to do some team building. However, some recruits are more enthusiastic than others.

Eager to impress on their first day, the newcomers are keen to go on a call with Adam, but Heather is the one who secures her place. As they head out, Yuki, May and Lenny are left behind. In their eagerness to impress, they cause chaos and are ordered out.

Meanwhile, Adam and Heather arrive at a deserted shopping centre where they are directed to a woman named Ella by security guard Lee. Ella is trapped in an industrial-sized fan.

Adam, Heather, Ella and her boyfriend, Dans, are in more danger than they know. Mr Tweedie, the centre owner, believes the place is deserted and has set up an explosive device to destroy the building.

The team hears a rumble and a fireball engulfs them...

Adam is played by Tristan Gemmill, Ruth by Georgia Taylor, Heather by Georgia Moffett, Yuki by Will Sharpe, May by Laura Aikman and Lenny by Steven Miller.

Guest artists include Katie Griffiths as Ella, Luke Pasqualino as Dans, Clive Wood as Mr Tweedie and Brendan Mackey as Sherb.

As members of the group trapped in the shopping centre start to regain consciousness, Jeff and Polly lead them to safety, in the second part of the explosive series-opener of the medical drama. However, Adam is worried when he can't find Heather and insists on staying behind to search for her. He eventually frees Heather from some rubble but soon realises that he, Ella and Heather are trapped; he doesn't know the way out.

Jeff and Lee slip back into the building, without Dixie and Polly noticing. Jeff wants to rescue the remaining three. Lee has been injured during their escape, though, leaving Adam, Heather and Ella to tend to him while Jeff tries to find help. Jeff, however, collapses on his way out. When no help comes Lee realises that their only chance is to try to climb up the lift shaft to safety. A petrified Heather, though, is too slow, and Adam can only dive for cover when flames engulf her...

Back at the Emergency Department (ED), Jessica is fraught when she realises Adam is trapped inside and sets about organising the F2s, who are overwhelmed by the volume of casualties.

As Adam arrives back at the ED he is inconsolable; it's his first day as clinical lead and he feels as if he has failed at the first hurdle.

Jeff is played by Matt Bardock, Polly by Sophia DiMartino, Adam by Tristan Gemmill, Heather by Georgia Moffett and Jessica by Gillian Kearney.

Guest artists this week include Katie Griffiths, who plays Ella, Anthony Flanagan, who plays Lee, Clive Wood, who plays Mr Tweedie, Joe McFadden, who plays Alistair and Brendan Mackey, who plays Sherb.

Who thinks a few of the F2's are going to be killed off.
Peter: So how many are there? Is it bad? Olivia: Did you eat? Peter: Yeah. Olivia: Well, that's unfortunate.

I thought Casualty was coming back earlier than the 13th

Eight new doctors? I reckon there are going to be some deaths and firings in the first few weeks.

This storyline sounds remarkably similar to one they did not so long ago in a university hall of residence when there was an explosion

It also sounds like the one they had at the beginning of last series, when they were in a block of flats and everyone got trapped because of a fire.

Sounds like a really good start to the series though

    :
That's the one I was thinking of. Where Adam and a few others got trapped on the stairs with a patient.

Having watched that preview clip on the bbc website a few times my favourite moment is so when Jay goes "Mrs Bassey that is NOT nice" after she clubs Charlie over the head.

So excited for the new series!

    From RadioTimes:

    Pick of the day: Casualty
New series, new clinical lead at the Holby ED. And being in charge does strange things to Adam. From the grumpy hunk we’re used to, he turns into a bouncy, team-building twit. He’s like an alpha gorilla on Red Bull. “Feel the force!” he keeps yelling, when he’s not quoting Roy Castle on dedication or shouting “Let’s rock ‘n’ roll!” at the staff. He doesn’t actually beat his chest at them, but it’s only a matter of time. Unless, of course, something brings him crashing down to earth first. Which, knowing the Casualty writers, it surely will, following the unwritten rule that He Who Is Happy Shall Be Laid Low by the Sorrows of the Earth. With Adam and Jess bathed in a contended glow (they walk into work holding hands, for heaven’s sake), he might as well have a sign pinned to his chest saying “Affix grim storyline here”. we get an inkling of what that might be in tonight’s first half of a rattling two-parter than concludes tomorrow. There’s a topical theme to abandoned shopping centre hit by the recession and an ex-Army security guard. There are nasty action sequences to wince at and some nice comic touches, too: the summer break has clearly done Casualty good.
Peter: So how many are there? Is it bad? Olivia: Did you eat? Peter: Yeah. Olivia: Well, that's unfortunate.
